You could use huge ugly watermarks so no-one will even bother to look at them.

It's the internet, people will take what they want no matter what you do.

Yes you're right it's the internet.By the way the watermark idea is not so bad if you use it in a small size I guess:up:
Oh my god, I wonder if I am some kinda paranoiac doh

If you put a small note in a corner and people want to present your photos as their own, they will crop it down and maybe even put their own name on them. There are professional tools out there to employ digital watermarks, but there's nothing you can do that cannot be reversed or worked around. You just have to deal with it.

Just to get you to calm down a little: Most web hosting services have a clause in their Terms of Service that disallows publicizing anything that has copyright restrictions. In those cases, writing the service provider a friendly letter and some kind of proof that you're the original author will get your material removed from the offending site.

Edit: However, a Creative Commons license is something to be considered. It's gaining popularity by the day since the couple of years it has been announced for. The thing with CC is that you actually encourage people to share your work, but with the restriction that they have to give you credit if they choose to publicize it. For an outsider, this "hey, feel free to use my work if you give me credit" attitude is much more appealing than an image with a huge "f*ck you if you want to share this" watermark on it. They get to use your pretty (? wink) photos on their blogs/site/newspaper/whatever, and you get the benefit of them popularizing you and your work by stating your name.

If you have Photo shop simply stamp your photos.. Just make sure you make copies before stamping..
