What If a Dirty Bomb Had Exploded In This Country?

What If a Dirty Bomb Had Exploded In This Country?

Hurricane Katrina has taught us (I hope), that America is still not yet ready to deal with a very large or horrendous disaster.

If it took one week or six days for the National Guard, to move vehicles through flooded streets, to rescue stranded citizens that had remained, or was caught there after the hurricane.

How will they respond to a terrorist attack upon any city with a Dirty Bomb, or even the sabotage of one of those LEVIES, that protects New Orleans from the Mississippi river?

It seems like the Homeland Security agencies, The State & Local authorities all failed to make the necessary preparations, that would have allowed them to respond with the imagination and expediency, that was necessary in such situations.

Furthermore, it took the President Of The United States, three days to personally visit the disaster regions. Imagine that! He is alleged to have said that he cut short his vacation by two days, in order to attend to this crisis. Now this comment bothers me, because what we have here is someone who was elected by the people, to attend to all of the people's needs in times like this. But President George W. Bush gives me the impression, that he was just OBLIGING Americans, by responding so soon!

I hope that all Americans will never forget this moment, or this disaster, and the people who were most affected by this disaster, and how their elected officials responded to them, in their time of dire need!

Some Serious Flaws With The Current Iraqi Constutional Draft-2005:

The Current Draft Constitution-2005 Of Iraq & Some Of It's Flaws:

Article 2:

* Stipulates that The Constitution must adhere to the Principles Of Democracy & Islamic Laws:

* All decisions must be Democratic: Rule Of Law, and in keeping with Islamic interpretation of justice:

* It also stipulates the creation of A Federal System of Government Of Individual States under the Constitution.

* The Sunni minority advisors to the drafting of this constitution has not endorsed this draft, and has rejected it in it's entirety, because they feel that Iraq must be Administered by Islamic Laws, with a Central Government at the helm.

* The Sunni advisors to the drafting of the constitution, also rejects the clause giving Kurdistan full autonomy:

* The Sunni's fear that if this present draft is accepted by Iraqis come October-2005 referendum, then the Sunnis will have little or no control over their future as a people, or a religious sect. Nor would they enjoy equity in the distribution of Iraqi's resources. For example, oil and other much needed infrastructure etc. Because the Shiite majority in power, will be in a position to discriminate against them.

A Necessary Provision:

* Who will decide in A Court Of Law, under this present constitution what is justice, in keeping with the principles of Islam or Democracy?

* Will there be A Supreme Court Of Justice: An Appellate Court: or Ombudsman?

* How many Justices will comprise the Supreme Court, and will it be dual gender?

* What criteria would The Supreme Court Justices use, as reference or guidance for making decisions.

* How long will a Supreme Court Judge have to serve in that capacity?

* And will these justices be appointed by the Political Administration in power, or by the President of Iraq?

Gays In The Military & Terrorism!

November 15/2002

Gays In The Military & Terrorism!

Foreword:

Ever since former president Bill Clinton signed the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Bill into law in 1996-97, the military has been dismissing individuals whom they perceive as Homosexual, Bi-sexual or Lesbian, from its’ ranks. I venture to highlight a recent dismissal of nine linguists who self-identified as Gay when asked; in light of the dire need for people fluent in Arabic; French Parse & other languages, in the war against terrorism.

Is This For Real?

CNN reported today (Nov/15/2002) that nine men were dismissed from the military for self-identifying as ‘Gay.’ This should come as no surprise; when you consider the need for recruits who are proficient in Arabic & other languages, which will be advantageous for intelligence, work in the military. The reasons are obvious; considering The National Christian self-righteous views, that Gays in the military is bad for morality in this institution.

The military institution of Britain & other countries of Europe have outlawed this institutional prejudice years ago, but America has not yet awakened to the light & reality of this ridiculous policy. America expects her people to show Patriotism at this time for the War on terrorism; but discriminates on the question of (sexuality & sexual preferences), when it comes to recruitment. It is time that The Pentagon realizes that (The Gay/Lesbian community) can do without the military! Nor do we care for its’ many wars abroad. But as Americans; we feel obligated to serve our country & its’ armed forces like every American should, (in times of war).

I implore The Pentagon to wake up and ‘Get Real’ & The United States House & Senate to Repeal/revamp this ridiculous & discriminatory law from its’ Statutes. Terrorists do not discriminate against Gays; Blacks; Whites; Asians, or anyone. Nor does “Weapons Of Mass Destruction.”

The individual who was caught with his lover on the military campus; & whose name is Mr. Allister Gamble did not admit to anything when questioned by the military authorities. When they carried out a search on his barrack room; they discovered pictures of himself & his lover together, (but non-sexual in nature). This led them to assume that he was Gay, & was subsequently/officially dismissed.

Om Shanti!

The Clinton Foundation-revisited:

July 28-2005.

The Clinton Foundation-revisited:

Even though I admire the efforts that former president Bill Clinton is doing for humanity lately, I still cannot ignore the time when thousands were dying en-mass in Rwanda and the United States did not intervene to end the mass slaughter there. That was under his watch!

When AIDS was ravishing millions in the continent of Africa, Bill Clinton did not aggressively inject money or medication to help alleviate the pain, suffering and death of those desperately poor and un-developed states in Africa, that was reeking under this pandemic.

It was under his watch that The Immigration Laws that were introduced in 1996-97 that inhibited legal residence, eg P.R.U.C.O.L. (Persons Residing Under Color Of Law): Many of whom for various reasons, overstayed their time here in America, and was now seeking permanent resident status. His signing of that law, debarred most of them from ever gaining that legal status without having to return to their home countries, and risk death, poverty, shame or worse!

It was under Bill Clinton's presidency that the 'Don't Ask-Don't Tell" Act. became statute, resulting in several deaths & beatings of Gay men, and several dis-honourable discharges of Homosexuals from the US military. Even though historically, closeted homosexual military personnel have been dreadfully injured in World war 2, The Korean War, The Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and possibly the wars in Afghanistan & Iraq currently. So Bill Clinton is no good legacy for the Gay community, and least of all, The Communities Of Color!

The only illegals eligible for legal residence in the USA, that manage to float in, sail in, drop in, or reach the shores of America, are the Cubans, and they are entitled to Automatic Legal Residence Status? This kind of differential treatment of humans, coupled with political convenience, bothers me greatly. And I wonder if it is only after Bill Clinton left the White House, that he became human again!

Are you Over 50 Years of Age & Still looking for Love Or Companionship?

* Are you over 50 years of age and at PEACE with yourself?

* Are you still trying to accumulate the basics for the home. No skills or education, still trying to find companionship or love, and is depressed because of these factors?

Many of us over fifty Gay & Bisexual men, or some time thereafter have to come to terms with these issues. They say life begins at forty, but I never accepted or subscribed to that assumption! So many of us men and women over fifty are still trying to make ends meet financially. Still trying to get the basic essentials in the home for comfort or convenience. And still have not been able to make any true friendships, find love, or companionship.

This is a period in every one's life when you are expected to become mellow or matured enough to accept all that life has thrown at you. Make amends for past animosities with people, forgive wrongs done to you, (perceived or actual), and find peace within yourself. If you are still grappling with all of the above, chances are you will not be able to achieve much at this stage in your life.

Some people feel that being over fifty is a time for abstinence from sexual activities. I say, when you are over fifty, you should at least understand what sex is all about. And be able to differentiate between a one night stand, or a trick. Expecting true love from anyone under fifty at this stage of your physical & emotional development, has to be contemplated very carefully.

The possibility of finding true love at this stage in your life is possible, but not all of us seniors will ever do at this stage. However, friendships based on sincerity, companionship, mentoring, and good buddies, is possible. But be on guard for those who feel that older men or women are to be exploited, because they are most vulnerable at this stage.

There are predators who seek out men and women at this time in their life for exploitation. Especially if they know of perceive that you are financially well grounded. As for those seniors who need personal assistance to do certain household chores, like shopping, or a personal Home Health Aide. Be very careful when you seek out these services.

Make every effort to research credentials, work history, personal credibility, and criminal history. If you use Home Health Agencies for these services, always ensure that they are certified to provide such services in your State.

Finally, maintain good health at all cost. Exercise as often as you are physically able to, and seek advice before from your Doctor, about the risks involved before doing such exercises at your age. A personal nutritionist is a must, especially if you prepare your own meals. Some men and women look very good physically at fifty and over. If you eat well, sleep well, exercise regularly, maintain good nutrition, and does not smoke cigarettes.

Chances are, you will be around for a long time!

The New York Subway System Today-2005!

A new law has been passed that will prohibit the drinking of coffee, or eating on the subway trains. This law also prohibits passengers from moving from one carriage to another while the train is in motion.
Anyone found doing any of the above, can get a ticket or charged for these violations.

Imagine, New York City. A place where foreigners come to experience the Big Apple, spend their money, visit our museums, and theaters, and have to comply with these ridiculous regulations on our transportation systems.

First it was the X Rated Video Stores or Book-Shops that were legally shut down. Then the National Parks & The Piers came into focus for sanitization. Then the streets are now policed day and night, by over zealous cops, harassing Black & Latino youths mostly, for standing in groups, walking with a bottle that may be construed as having alcohol, and being FRISKED on a regular basis on the grounds of suspicion.

Even the New York City Greenwich Village Piers have their own Police/Security guards that harass our youths every day. They claim that the youths are 'making too much noise while there
As for the bathroom facilities, you have spies watching you all the time while you are relieving yourself there too!

What next are we going to experience in the so called FREE LAND OF America?

Stem Cell Research In It's Entirety:

Part 1.

December 12, 2001

"Embryonic Stem Cell Research"

This is based on the theory that in time, Clinical Science will be able to isolate 'cells' from a human embryo, in the pursuit of a cure for many diseases., eg cancer, alzheimers; heart; bone marrow, etc. Thus far, this is only a theory; the technology is still decades away.

Stem Cell Research & Human Cloning:

There is a possibility presently; for Clinical science to use Stem Cells from The Male; implant them into the Ovary of a Female; and produce "a precise Duplicate Of the Donor. This research is still in its' embryonic stage; but may be perfected in the not too distant future. Some Medical scientists believe that this break-through can be positively beneficial to the Medical community, for repairs or replacement of organs in the Human Body.

Some also fear that if this procedure is not monitored scruplously; their is a possibility that "Human Cloning" would be done in the future. The President and The US Senate strongly oppose this type of research at this time (Nov/26/2001)., for fear of what is likely to happen in the future. Incidentally, this Bill was unanimously passed in the House of Representatives, and is now left up to the Senate to debate and conclude on it.

Wednesday, January 02, 2002 (Part 2)

"Current Developments On The Above"

The BBC reported today (Dec/02/2002), that there has been a new breakthrough in Stem Cell Research. A litter of 'Piglets' have been successfully cloned; providing the "Genesis" for Useable or (non-rejected) organs for the Human Organism. It is the view in the Medical community; that this animal is best suited for the transfer of Organs to the Human Body, without rejection. Personally, I think that it is only a 'matter of time' before we hear of much more developments in this regard. I also believe that this is a good start in the right direction; because if we as Humans; use Pigs for food consumption, why not use it for Organ Replacement. (I think that this would be more beneficial) when used in this way.

I am also eager to hear what Vegetarians; Hindus, and Animal Preservationists have to say about this.

January 30, 2002 (Part 3).

The Bundestag or (German Parliament):

Today in the German Parliament; there was some heated debates on the issue of 'Whether Germany Should Indulge In Experiments On Human Stem Cells or Not; following this was the contention of the 'Ethical commission' in Germany that such experiments should not be taken lightly; considering our infamous history of Nazi clinical experiments on Jews, in an effort to support their view that The Aryan Race was superior. Thus far; importing Male Stem cells are only allowed to The Scientific Community; with familiar or specific lines; and are strickly monitored, and used for scientific research. However, scientists are still unable to produce skin tissue from this source, at this time.

Human Stem Cell Research (per se) is strictly prohibited in Germany.

Up-date:
Today (Dec/27/2002), CNN & the local news media reported that ‘A New Born Baby’ was successfully delivered via cloning. This revelation was given by an international ‘cult organization’ who are involved in this revolutionary genetic engineering technology.

House Approves a Stem Cell Research Bill Opposed by Bush

By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

WASHINGTON, May 24 - The House passed a bill on Tuesday to expand federal financing for embryonic stem cell research, defying a veto threat from President Bush, who appeared at the White House with babies and toddlers born of test-tube embryos and warned the measure "would take us across a critical ethical line."

The vote, 238 to 194 with 50 Republicans in favor, fell far short of the two-thirds majority required to overturn a presidential veto, setting up a possible showdown between Congress and Mr. Bush, who has never exercised his veto power. An identical bill has broad bipartisan support in the Senate; moments after the House vote, the Senate sponsors wrote to the Republican leader, Bill Frist, urging him to put it on the agenda.

The House action is the first vote on embryonic stem cell research since August 2001, when Mr. Bush opened the door to taxpayer financing for the studies, but only with strict limits. The new bill permits the government to pay for studies involving human embryos that are in frozen storage at fertility clinics, so long as couples conceiving the embryos certified that they had made a decision to discard them.

"The White House cannot ignore this vote," said the bill's chief Republican backer, Representative Michael N. Castle of Delaware, adding, "I'm elated."

But opponents also said they were elated. Representative Joseph R. Pitts, Republican of Pennsylvania, said: "I hate to lose, but I feel pretty good about this vote. We beat a veto-proof margin by 50 votes."

The big question now is what will happen in the Senate. Dr. Frist, a heart surgeon from Tennessee who supports the existing policy, is already facing intense pressure from conservatives over the issue of Mr. Bush's judicial nominees and does not seem eager to schedule a vote on stem cell research. He said last week that he wanted to check with his colleagues before doing so.

The House vote followed an impassioned lobbying campaign by advocates for patients, including Nancy Reagan. Mrs. Reagan, who became a strong backer of stem cell research as her husband struggled with Alzheimer's disease, telephoned fellow Republicans this week urging a yes vote, Mr. Castle said.

But Mr. Bush countered with a powerful one-two punch, throwing the full weight of the White House behind the opposition. On Friday, he issued a rare threat to veto the Castle bill. On Tuesday, just hours before the vote, he appeared in the East Room of the White House with families created by a rare but growing practice in which one couple donates its frozen embryos to another.

"The children here today remind us that there is no such thing as a spare embryo," Mr. Bush said, amid the squeals and coos of babies cradled in their mothers' arms. "Every embryo is unique and genetically complete, like every other human being. And each of us started out our life this way. These lives are not raw material to be exploited, but gifts."

The parents, who worked through a Christian adoption agency, applauded enthusiastically. When Mr. Bush said that "every human life is a precious gift of matchless love," a mother behind him on stage mouthed the word "Amen."

The White House event, on what conservative Christians and the president call an important "culture of life" issue, demonstrated just how far Mr. Bush is willing to assert himself on policy that goes to what he considers the moral heart of his presidency. In another sign of how important the issue is to conservatives, the House Republican leader, Tom DeLay of Texas, managed the opposition to the bill, also casting it in stark moral terms.

"An embryo is a person, a distinct internally directed, self-integrating human organism," Mr. DeLay said, adding, "We were all at one time embryos ourselves. So was Abraham. So was Muhammad. So was Jesus of Nazareth."

He went on: "The choice to protect a human embryo from federally funded destruction is not, ultimately, about the human embryo. It is about us, and our rejection of the treacherous notion that while all human lives are sacred, some are more sacred than others."

Human embryonic stem cells, isolated from human embryos for the first time in 1998, have the potential to grow into any cell or tissue in the body, and so hold great promise for treatment of disease. But the embryos are destroyed when the cells are extracted. So Mr. Bush, intending to discourage further embryo destruction, insisted in 2001 that federal financing be limited to studies of those stem cell colonies, or lines, that had already been created.

Instead, Mr. Bush is promoting research on adult stem cells, which are drawn from bone marrow and blood, including umbilical cord blood, and have narrower implications for medicine than embryonic stem cells. On Tuesday, the House voted 431 to 1 to approve a measure that would create umbilical cord blood banks to advance adult stem cell research.

But it was the embryonic stem cell debate that inflamed the passions of the House, sounding at various times like a lesson in cell biology, a theological discourse and a personal confessional. Lawmaker after lawmaker came to the House well to recount struggles with conscience and searing personal experiences with death and disease.

Representative Jim Langevin, Democrat of Rhode Island, rolled to the microphone in his motorized wheelchair to speak of his spinal cord injury, which he said could be helped by the research. Representative Jo Ann Emerson, Republican of Missouri, told of a young man named Cody, who had been paralyzed in a car accident at age 16 and asked her to rethink her opposition to embryonic stem cell studies.

"I later wrote a note to Cody's family telling them that even after hearing his story, I couldn't do as he asked," Ms. Emerson said, "and I have regretted writing that letter ever since."

But for every supporter with a compelling personal tale, there was an opponent like Representative Dan Lungren, Republican of California, whose brother has Parkinson's disease. "I've learned a lot of things from my brother," Mr. Lungren said, "But one of the things I learned most is that there is a difference between right and wrong."

The backers of the Senate measure, Senators Arlen Specter, Republican of Pennsylvania, and Tom Harkin, Democrat of Iowa, have scheduled a news conference for Wednesday to demand quick action. "I don't understand why Mr. Bush is doing this," Mr. Harkin said, adding, "I wish he would refrain from drawing lines in the sand."

Hello!

It is indeed remarkable how reality can do strange things to some people, while others prefer to bury their heads in the sand.

President George W. bush has convincingly shown how backward and ignorant he is about modern science, and it's affect on medicine internationally. While the developed world is pressing for further scientific developments into ways for combating diseases and other ills. George W. Bush prefers to hold on to religious convictions, that hinder such developments and progress.

I often wonder if he or any member had a debilitating disease, if he would have held the same views?

If you cannot stand the waves Mr. Bush, get off the ship!

The Holocaust Of Jews & Blacks:

The Holocaust Of The Jews & The Ignored Holocaust Of Black People!

Have you ever taken notice how often the Holocaust of the Jews under Adolph Hitler's Nazi regime, is been told and shown on American PBS Television (Channel 13), almost daily.

It seems like there is no end to this viewing in the local media. And no one (as far as I can recall), has publicly shown resentment for the frequency (and in your face) showing, of this historical fact!

However, the American media is not so mindful of showing on a regular basis (if ever), the continual genocidal acts against a certain group of people, that is considered disposable, in Darfur-Sudan.

Nor is there any discussion of the war in Uganda between the Rebels of the North, and the National Army of Uganda, for over 13 years now.

Nor is there any mention being made in the local media of the depressing economic situation in the shanty towns, housing, un-employment, & impoverished livelihood that the Black South Africans are still experiencing, in a country that is being Administered for over a decade, by Black South Africans.

The economic wealth of that country is still controlled & owned by White South Africans. The Shanty Townships that existed under Apartheid is still in existence, and the Blacks are getting restless and despondent about the promise of improvements to their livelihood, that was made after the overthrow of Apartheid, and two election victories of The National ANC-Political Party in Power.

The holocaust of the Jewish people in Europe during World War 2, was horrific and should never be taken for granted or forgotten. But the Black holocaust began since the advent of Black Slave Trading by the Europeans in Africa, and has since been adopted by the Arabs, in certain Arab countries even today. The Sudan is a case in point.

Yet the western media does not give it the media time that it deserves. I guess it is not perceived as a revenue earner, and does not get the financial sponsorship from the traditional big corporations and donors, to make it a priority!

The current population of prisoners in The USA Jails/Prisons!

Nation's Inmate Population Increased 2.3 Percent Last Year By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: April 25, 2005

WASHINGTON, April 24 (AP) - The nation's prisons and jails held 2.1 million people in mid-2004, 2.3 percent more than the year before, the government reported on Sunday.

The inmate population increased by slightly more than 48,000 from mid-2003 to mid-2004, a growth of about 900 inmates each week, according to the latest figures from the Bureau of Justice Statistics.

The total inmate population has hovered around two million for the last few years: It was 2.1 million on June 30, 2002, and just below that mark a year later.

While the crime rate has fallen over the last decade, the number of people going to prison and jail is outpacing the number of inmates released, said an author of the report, Paige M. Harrison.

Ms. Harrison said the increase could be largely attributed to get-tough policies enacted in the 1980's and 1990's. Among them are mandatory sentences for drug crimes, "three strikes and you're out" laws for repeat offenders and "truth in sentencing" laws that restrict early releases.

"As a whole, most of these policies remain in place," Ms. Harrison said. "These policies were a reaction to the rise in crime in the 80's and early 90's."

Malcolm Young, executive director of the Sentencing Project, which promotes alternatives to prison, said, "We're working under the burden of laws and practices that have developed over 30 years that have focused on punishment and prison as our primary response to crime."

Mr. Young said many of those incarcerated were not serious or violent offenders, but low-level drug offenders. He said ways to help lower that number included introducing drug treatment programs that offer effective ways of changing behavior and providing appropriate assistance for the mentally ill.

The Justice Policy Institute, which advocates a more lenient system of punishment than incarceration, said the United States had the highest rate of incarceration in the world, followed by Britain, China, France, Japan and Nigeria.

According to the government's report, there were 726 inmates for every 100,000 United States residents on June 30, 2004, compared with 716 a year earlier. Put another way, in 2004, one in every 138 residents was in prison or jail; the previous year it was one in every 140.

In 2004, nearly 60 percent of prison and jail inmates were racial or ethnic minorities, the report said. An estimated 12.6 percent of all black men age 25 to 29 were in jails or prisons, compared with 3.6 percent of Hispanic men and 1.7 percent of white men in that age group, the report said.

Definition Of Democracy!

Definition of Democracy:

The Political orientation of those who favor government by the people, or by their ELECTED representatives.

This is the basic concept of democracy. And this is what the Bush Administration is trying to introduce in Iraq.

I am not contending here that the motive to invade Iraq was for the spread of Democracy. That was proven to be false from the reality on the ground in Iraq. No weapons of mass destruction was ever found. That is what the world was told by Pres. George W. Bush & his colleague Br. Prime Minister. Mr.Tony Blair.

But that is history now. The Iraqi people are now free of Sadaam and his Baath Party's tyranny. They are now in the process of experimenting for the first time in their history, with freedom of choice of who takes the helm of government. And if or when they feel as a people, that their elected representatives are not working in the commonweal's interest, they could be removed via elections.

That is what the world is eagerly awaiting, and would like the Iraqi people to understand and embrace, for their own future, security, liberty and freedom.

That is not Jefferson's democracy, or British democracy, but democracy that is relevant to the style and circumstance of Iraq. The technicalities of how this will be implemented, will be decided by the Iraqi elected representatives.

The Current Situation In New Orleans, Louisiana, & Mississippi!

September 01-2005:

The Current Situation in New Orleans, Louisiana & Mississippi:

* Most of the thousands that are homeless, flooded out, jobless, without any means for sustenance like money, food, medicine, drinking water, beds, candles, or any appliance for making electric light, and without any possibility of permanent shelter as individuals or families, are mostly "BLACK FOLKS."

* Some desperate-hungry-thirsty and angry individuals are taking matters into their own hands by looting food stores, in order to get some thing to eat for themselves, and their immediate families.

* A FEW of these desperate people, are looting anything because of greed, and is selling this loot to fellow citizens for cash.

* Things like this happen in situations of desperation and perceived hopelessness. And currently in New Orleans & Louisiana, the situation there seem to most people as hopeless, or too slow in getting help from The Federal authorities.

* Until everyone in this situation/dilemma can access food, clean drinking water, some sense of personal safety and security, some money to spend for personal effects or shelter. And the assurance that they will be adequately housed, clothed, and protected from bodily harm in the next several months.

They will continue to be a feeling of despair or dread, in abundance!

After all, Blacks in America have a long history of being neglected, suffering imposed upon them, false promises, being conned by their Political Leaders, The Church, Local, State and Federal authorities.

Claim: Designer Tommy Hilfiger shocked the world when he appeared on a television talk show and said, "If I knew that blacks and Asians were going to wear my clothes, I would have never designed them."

Status: False.

Origins: Rumors
that Tommy Hilfiger made a racist remark exploded onto the Internet in the fall of 1996 after a news article purporting to be from a Philippines tabloid began making the online rounds. These self-same rumors had been in circulation at least nine months earlier, but the appearance of this article brought them to critical mass.

According to Cristina Peczon (author of the article), the revealing remark happened on CNN Style with Elsa Klensch, during an interview with both Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren on the latest fashion trends:

Hilfiger then supposedly butted in then with a comment, something like it is one thing for one's label to go popular worldwide, but there are some people who just don't look well in "their" designer clothes. Hilfiger then allegedly named several Asian races, apparently saying that he preferred if "these people" wouldn't wear their line - particularly Filipinos!
Though many were up in arms about this article (there were calls for a boycott of Hilfiger products), no one was ever quite sure what the designer had said, who he'd said it to, or even which ethnic group he'd slammed. One version had him saying, "If I knew that blacks and Asians were going to wear my clothes, I would have never designed them." More colorful renditions had him making his shocking revelation on national TV and Oprah Winfrey then throwing him off her show. (Oddly enough, the same story has been told about Liz Claiborne since 1991, that Oprah threw her off the show after Liz claimed she didn't design for Black women as "their hips are too big." That didn't happen either. See our Liz Biz page for more about that rumor, and the one that she gives part of the company's profits to the Church of Satan.)
A 1997 newspaper article debunking this tale noted:

In one cybermyth, Hilfiger supposedly told style reporter Elsa Klensch of CNN that he didn't think Asians looked good in his clothes. Then, as the story morphed, he told Winfrey the same thing about Blacks, at which point she threw him off the set.
Yet representatives of both shows deny Hilfiger ever appeared as a guest.

A 1999 article also carried denials from officials of the shows on which the incident is rumored to have taken place:

"Tommy Hilfiger has never appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show," said Audrey Pass, a spokeswoman for Winfrey. "Hilfiger's never appeared on CNN Style with Elsa Klensch," said Kathy Park of CNN.
Oprah herself did what she could to quell this slander. On Monday, 11 January 1999, she opened her show by adamantly denouncing the rumor, emphatically stating the following:

So I want to just set the record straight once and for all. The rumor claims that clothing designer Tommy Hilfiger came on this show and made racist remarks, and that I then kicked him out. I just want to say that is not true because it just never happened. Tommy Hilfiger has never appeared on this show. READ MY LIPS, TOMMY HILFIGER HAS NEVER APPEARED ON THIS SHOW. And all of [the] people who claim that they saw it, they heard it - it never happened. I've never even met Tommy Hilfiger.
Both Hilfiger and his company have steadfastly denied all forms of the rumor, and it has taken many. Depending on who you hear the whisper from, he slammed Asians, Filipinos or Blacks, on Oprah or Ricki Lake or BET News or Larry King Live or CNN - as a rumor, it's a marvel of non-specificity. According to a company statement posted to the Internet in March 1997:

Tommy Hilfiger did not make the alleged inappropriate racial comments. [. . .] Hilfiger wants his clothing to be enjoyed by people of all backgrounds and his collections are put together with the broadest cross-section of individuals in mind. To reinforce this, he features models of all ethnic backgrounds in his fashion shows and advertisements.
The company has answered the charges leveled against Hilfiger in its corporate FAQ, which very clearly states that not only didn't he say what's been ascribed to him, he's also never been on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, or CNN's Style with Elsa Klensch.
Cyberdenials or not, the rumor has legs. Earlier I mentioned it had been around at least nine months prior to its Internet explosion in late 1996. A March 1995 newspaper article noted:

Then there's the infamous disparaging "statement" the Parsons brothers and several others said they had heard that Hilfiger made about Blacks, particularly poor Blacks, wearing his clothes.
As with all rumors, there are several variations, and no one can say where or when Hilfiger made the comments. One woman said a friend heard him say it on BET News. A clerk at Burdines said he heard it was on the Ricki Lake show.

Hilfiger's being cast as a racist villain is especially unfortunate because his history as a designer shows him to be anything but. Adding color and movement to everyday clothes, his designs shot into popularity fueled by enthusiastic support from the Black community which adopted his fashion statements as its own. When Snoop Doggy Dogg wore a red, white, and blue Hilfiger rugby shirt on Saturday Night Live in March 1994, the word went out: Tommygear was cool. That was the same year the National Conference of Christians and Jews bestowed its National Humanitarian Award on the young designer. In 1995 Hilfiger was named Menswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and from there he's gone nowhere but up.
As immediately satisfying as it is to believe the old Liz Claiborne tale has updated itself by attaching to a newer, fresher designer, there's another likely explanation that must also be considered. As Hilfiger's clothing became more and more popular, it increasingly became a target for the Pacific Basin knock-off specialists. Hilfiger's statements that people should foreswear Asian or Filipino bootlegs of his clothes because cheap copies don't look good on anybody could easily have been misheard or misunderstood so that they were later remembered as statements to the effect that Asians or Filipinos themselves should not wear Hilfiger designs as they would make his clothes look bad.

The Revocation Of Legal Status To Foreign Or Local Residents In The USA:

The Revocation Of Legal Status To Foreign Or Local Residents In The USA:

Firstland International Holding No Longer Available For Preventing DHS From Revoking Already Approved Immigrant Petitions Of Aliens In The US by Cyrus D. Mehta and Elizabeth T. Reichard

On August 20, 2004, our firm posted an important article about the nightmare situation in which an alien with an approved immigrant visa appears for his/her final adjustment of status interview only to be told that the immigrant visa is being recommended for revocation. See Mehta, Cyrus D., Federal Court Prevents DHS from Revoking an Approved Immigrant Visa Petition When Beneficiary Is Already in the U.S. http://www.ilw.com/lawyers/articles/2004,0907-mehta.shtm> (Aug. 20, 2004).

The article focused on § 205 of the Immigration and Nationality Act ("INA"), which at the time the article was written, authorized the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security ("DHS") to revoke an approved immigrant visa petition on "good and sufficient cause" so long as notice is communicated "to the beneficiary of the petition before such beneficiary commences his journey to the United States."

[1] The article asked, in light of this section, does the DHS have the authority to revoke an immigration visa after the alien commenced his journey to the United States? It ultimately concluded that § 205 can be used to revoke immigrant visa petition, but only if the alien beneficiary is outside of the United States and awaiting consular processing.

In coming to this conclusion, the article directed readers to an important Second Circuit case, Firstland International, Inc. v. Ashcroft, docket no. 03-6139 (Second Cir. August 2, 2004). This case was a matter of first impression in the Second Circuit. It involved a Chinese company that sponsored its president on an L-1A nonimmigrant visa. After working in the United States for two years and even receiving an L-1A extension, the Firstland filed an I-140, under the multi-national executive/manager category, on behalf of the president. The petition was approved and the alien applied for adjustment of status. While the adjustment application was pending that the then Immigration and Naturalization Service ("INS") issued a notice of its intent to revoke its approval of the I-140 visa petition on grounds that the beneficiary was not employed in primarily a managerial or executive capacity. This ultimately led to the denial of the adjustment application.

Firstland then took various steps in appealing the revocation. It filed an appeal with the Administrative Appeals Office which was ultimately denied. It then took the matter to the Federal District Court, which also denied the case, holding that INA § 242(a)(2)(B)(ii) precluded it from exercising subject matter jurisdiction because certain decisions are in the discretion of the Attorney General. Ultimately, Firstland took the matter to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, which held in its favor. The Court interpreted § 205 to mean that the DHS can only revoke an immigrant visa before the beneficiary departs for the U.S., and not after beneficiary is already inside the U.S. The Court determined that it had jurisdiction because § 205 provided some boundaries around the Attorney General’s discretion (i.e. discretion over aliens outside of the United States v. no discretion over aliens within the United States).

Unfortunately, the boundaries around the Attorney General’s (now the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security’s) discretion no longer exist with regard to § 205. On December 17, 2004, INA § 205 was amended so as to remove the requirement that permits revocation only before the "beneficiary commences his journey to the United States." [2] By removing these boundaries, the Firstland holding pertaining to aliens outside the United States and the analysis presented in the previous article are no longer applicable. The amendment precludes individuals within the United States from seeking Firstland relief and essentially reinstates, for the purposes of § 205, the § 242(a)(2)(B)(ii) bar precluding courts from jurisdiction to review decisions or actions of the Secretary of Homeland Security (previously the Attorney General). Firstland’s holding grants federal courts jurisdiction when boundaries are placed around the Secretary’s discretion will remain precedent.

So, if another provision of the INA limits his/her authority, jurisdiction will be allowed. That said, with regard to the alien beneficiary in the United States, the Secretary now has discretion, without federal judicial review, to revoke the immigrant visa regardless of whether the alien beneficiary is within the U.S. or abroad. The amendment to § 205 also permits the DHS to revoke a petition regardless of whether the alien is within or outside the U.S., without providing notice to the beneficiary of the petition. The old § 205 specifically required that "notice of the revocation is communicated through the Secretary of State to the beneficiary of the petition before such beneficiary commences his journey to the United States."

This amendment reinstates the nightmare situation for immigrants in the United States who have approved immigrant visas. Such a revocation is likely to cause a great deal of hardship to many aliens who are already in the U.S. and who most likely have developed substantial ties to this country. It should be noted, however, that although the amendment to § 205 allows the DHS to now revoke petitions of aliens already in the U.S. without federal review, the existing regulations still require the DHS to give notice to the petitioner, as well as the opportunity to offer evidence in opposition to the grounds alleged for revocation of the approval. [3]

Endnotes

1 The prior language of INA § 205, 8 U.S.C. § 1155 (2004), stated:
The Attorney General may, at any time, for what he deems to be good and sufficient cause, revoke the approval of any petition approved by him under section 204. Such revocation shall be effective as of the date of approval of any such petition. In no case, however, shall revocation have effect unless there is mailed to the petitioner’s last known address a notice of the revocation and unless notice of the revocation is communicated through the Secretary of State to the beneficiary of the petition before such beneficiary commences his journey to the Untied Sates. If notice of revocation is not so given, and the beneficiary applies for admission to the United States, his admissibility shall be determined in the manner provided for by sections 235 and 240. (emphasis added).
2 The amended INA § 205, 8 U.S.C. § 1155 (2005), asserts:

The Secretary of Homeland Security may, at any time, for what he deems to be good and sufficient cause, revoke the approval of any petition approved by him under section 204. Such revocation shall be effective as of the date of approval of any such petition.
3 8 C.F.R. § 205.2(b). This regulation has not been amended after INA § 205 was modified on December 17, 2004.

Indian Fry Bread Sparks Health Debate:

Indian Fry Bread Sparks Health Debate:

By ANGIE WAGNER, Associated Press WriterSat Aug 20, 6:23 PM ET
When you first see it, plopped down on a paper plate in all its caloric bliss, the round, doughy treat is so appealing, so alluring it's hard to believe this wondrous sight can cause anything but delight. But fry bread, that fluffy concoction American Indian women lovingly make in their kitchens and people line up for at powwows and western fairs, has come under attack as a hazard to health.

Suzan Shown Harjo, a Cheyenne and Muscogee Indian, wasn't trying to cause a debate. She just was exhausted with yet another one of her relatives dying of diabetes. She zoned in on fry bread as a culprit and whipped out a January column for Indian Country Today declaring it junk food that leads to fat Indians. She made a New Year's resolution to abstain from fry bread. Then she did something some Indians consider insane: She asked them to give it up, too. Word spread through Indian Country. Outrage!

The nerve of Harjo! What started as a woman's disdain for the yummy delicacy suddenly became the great fry bread debate. Ask any Indian about it and you'll either be greeted with rolled eyes — or sparkling, hungry eyes. after all, fry bread is synonymous with Indian culture. South Dakota has just made it the official state bread. And many Indians don't want anyone coming between them and their hot, greasy skillets. "It's like giving up turkey at Thanksgiving," said Gayle Weigle, an Anishinabe Indian who runs a Web site celebrating fry bread stories and recipes. "It is a tradition."
___
Indian women like Margarita Gonzalez on the Tohono O'odham reservation here rise before dawn to start making fry bread. Gonzalez makes four dozen each morning and makes her living selling them in an empty lot in Sells. "It's like a craving you get for it, the aroma of it. You have to try to keep yourself from it," she said, taking a break from serving the lunch crowd. To say fry bread is tasty isn't doing it justice. It's scrumptious, sweet, and puts a crazy spell on anyone who craves it. But it's loaded with pesky calories — at least 700 for one paper-plate size piece — plus a whopping 27 grams of fat, according to a nutritional analysis by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. "Those things are awesome," tribal police officer Mario Saraficio said, getting excited at the thought. "It's bad, but it's good. If the doctor told me I had to give it up, I'd say probably not."

Fry bread came to be by necessity:

When the government moved Indians off their land and onto reservations in the 1800s, they were kept from their traditional foods such as elk, corn, deer and rabbit. In their place were rations of flour, salt and lard, and Indian women did what they could with it, creating the wonderful fry bread that would become part of their culture. Ingredients vary today, but the main ones are still white flour, salt, sugar and lard. Some call it a popover, and options are endless for how to eat it. There's the Indian taco, fry bread with red chili and beans, or the extra sweet version with powdered sugar or honey on top. In Phoenix, there is the popular Fry Bread House restaurant, where you can get fry bread pretty much anyway you want. The most sinful? Fry bread topped with gooey chocolate syrup and oozing with butter. Sure, folks there talked about the fry bread flap, but it didn't seem to make much difference. "They're still in line," said restaurant owner Cecelia Miller.

Fry bread is so embedded in the culture many Indians can't imagine going without. T-shirts declare "Fry Bread Power Forever!" or "FBI — Fry Bread Inspector." There's an entire Web site dedicated to warm, fuzzy memories about fry bread. So Harjo's column was the equivalent of taking spray paint to sacred petroglyphs. Harjo, who heads the Morning Star Institute, an Indian rights group, compared fry bread to a "lead Frisbee" and even likened it to "hard-core porn. No redeeming qualities." "It's the connecting dot between healthy children and obesity, hypertension, diabetes, dialysis, blindness, amputations and slow death," Harjo wrote, deeming it, quite simply, "Rotten stuff." On the national radio show Native America Calling, the fry bread furor was one of the most popular topics this year.

One man boasted that he downed 12 pieces in one sitting. Another man said he was desperate for fry bread and couldn't find any. "Anytime you say fry bread, people smile. Except Suzan Harjo," Weigle said. "It's almost sacred. It just makes you happy."
Weigle originally started her Web site http://www.frybreadlove.org to talk about a benefit concert for the homeless children she worked with in Minneapolis. Why that name? To her, fry bread means comfort. Soon, she was posting fry bread recipes, pictures and heartwarming stories. She's thinking now of a recipe book.
___
Not every case of obesity and diabetes among Indians can be blamed solely on fry bread, of course. But Harjo has a point. Among Indians, the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes — the most common form — is more than double what it is in the general population. Fueled by obesity, poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle, Type 2 diabetes is occurring a full decade sooner in Indians, when people are between 20 and 29 years old. Many believe the diabetes rate began to skyrocket when Indians stopped living off the land and began using government rations. For decades, researchers with the National Institutes of Health have been studying the Pima Indians in Arizona, who have the highest incidence of diabetes in the world, to determine if there is a genetic reason they are more susceptible to the disease.
Here on the Tohono O'odham reservation near Tucson, more than half the 14,000 residents have diabetes. A $4 million dialysis center is under construction, necessary to serve all the people who have developed kidney disease from diabetes.

At the Sells hospital, it's unusual for doctors to see a tribal member who doesn't have diabetes. It is so prevalent, doctors and nutritionists struggle to convince Indians they can help prevent it. The attitude is, "I'm going to get it anyway," Dr. Paul Weintraub said. "And to some extent, it's true. They will get it." Gloria Maldonado has lived with diabetes for 22 years. Her mother had it, so does her brother and her 24-year-old daughter. "I figured sooner or later I would get it," she said as Weintraub examined her. Fry bread didn't get Maldonado, 53, in this situation by itself, of course. She struggles to give up junk food and doesn't exercise. But she has switched from cooking fry bread in lard to dipping it in oil.
"It isn't the culprit that has made Indian people heavy," said Tammy L. Brown, nutrition consultant with Indian Health Service's diabetes division. "It's the fast foods, the sugary drinks. It's the overall diet."

But, if fry bread gets Indians talking about health, then that's fine by Brown and Harjo.
"Just because it was food that was forced on us doesn't mean we have to keep embracing it," Harjo said. For a long time, Indians have made fun of commodities and even refer to an overweight person as having a "commod bod." Jokes are tossed around that fry bread has killed more Indians than the federal government. But artist Steven Deo, a Creek and Euchee Indian, said laughing is a way Indians have dealt with obesity and diabetes. "At some point, we have to confront that," he said. "We have to prepare the next generation to come out of that poverty, to strive for bigger and better things." Deo created a series of public service announcement posters, and debuted his first one — a picture of a big, tan piece of fry bread with the words: "Frybread Kills" — at a show in New Mexico last year.
"It has stirred some controversy," Deo said. "But at least we're talking about it now."
___
It's mid-day at the Health O'odham Promotion Program, or the HOPP, and the step class is in full, sweaty swing. Health lessons are postered around the gym, reminding Indians to get their five fruits and vegetables a day and that white bread and rice convert quickly to sugar. Music is blaring, the treadmills are filling up and Mashone Antone, 36, is on her second trip to the community gym today. Last October she took a hard look at her life: She was overweight and so were two of her three children. They stayed in the house a lot, ate fast food, indulged in fry bread and barely thought about health. But Antone, a juvenile probation officer, wanted to change that, for her children and for herself. Now she's up every day at 5 a.m. for a two-mile walk, then hits the HOPP before work and again after work. She's shed 30 pounds and wants to lose 50 more. Her daughter often joins her at the gym, and now the family takes walks and plays basketball. Soda is out, fruits and vegetables are in, and fry bread is now only a rare treat."When I think about it, that was my downfall," Antone said. "I don't miss it." Harjo would be proud.

But getting someone with Antone's enthusiasm is a challenge for the gym's staff. Nutritionists estimate 80 percent of the Tohono O'odham people are obese. They hold a weight loss challenge, fun runs, offer nutrition counseling, even teach people how to shop for healthy food and host a camp for children at risk for obesity and diabetes. "I do get a lot of resistance from people who say they want to change their eating habits, but don't want to change the way they cook," said dietitian Dolores Galaz. Another attitude Galaz encounters: Indians not wanting to be thin, for fear they will be the odd one out in their overweight families. In her column, Harjo had some parting advice: "The next time you find yourself swallowing some leftover news du jour or get that suicidal urge for fry bread, just slather lard all over the magazine or television listing and apply it directly to your midriff and backside. That way, you can have the consequence of the rotten stuff, without having to actually digest it." The gym staff isn't as harsh; they're just hoping to change eating habits little by little. All the better if the fry bread controversy jump-starts that.

"People want to change because they see what's happening to their elders and their parents. I just think they haven't known how to go about changing," Galaz said. That means losing the lard and white flour in fry bread and trying wheat flour and canola oil, something tribal Chairwoman Vivian Juan-Saunders has started doing. "I like to eat fry bread, but instead of eating the whole pie, I eat half," she said.

Please Boycott Tommy Helfiger Clothes!

HATS OFF TO OPRAH!!!

I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of "The Oprah Winfrey Show", where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger...

On the show, she asked him if the statements about racism he was accused of saying were true...Statements like "... if I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jews and Asians would buy my clothes, I would not have made them so nice......

.I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes as they are made for upper class white people." His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES."

When Hilfiger answered in such manner, she immediately asked him to leave! her show. A suggestion: Don't buy your next shirt or Perfume from Tommy Hilfiger.

Let's give him what he asked for: Let's not buy his clothes. Let's put him in a state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes.

The BRICK That Changed A Life:

The Brick That Changed A Life:

THE BRICK:

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!
He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money.
Why did you do it?" The young boy was apologetic. "Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do," He pleaded. "I threw the brick because no one else would stop..." With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car "It's my brother, "he said "He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up."

Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me." Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. "Thank you and may God bless you," the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door.. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: "Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!" God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

Thought for the Day:
If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He sends you flowers every spring.
He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!
Send this to every "beautiful person" you wish to bless.
END.

Military Ousts More Gays For Online Ads!

Military Ousts More Gays For Online Ads!

Tom Musbach, PlanetOut Network
Thursday, August 4, 2005 / 09:18 AM

SUMMARY: Soldier Jeff Howe, who served two tours of duty in Iraq, is one of several service members "outed" this year because of online personal ads.

As a frontline artilleryman during two tours of duty in Iraq, Army Specialist Jeff Howe faced many dangers that could have ended his military career, if not his life. Instead he got tripped up by his online personal ad, which identified him as gay.

Howe set up the ad last year on Connexion.org as a social outlet during a break between his deployments. Though he did not use the ad or discuss it while on active duty, it led to his discharge on Wednesday under the U.S. military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy against openly gay and lesbian service members.

Howe's case is not unusual, as online "outings" have increased this year over last year, according to a Washington D.C.-based group that serves gay and lesbian military personnel and works to end the gay ban.

By the end of July, the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) had assisted 10 people with similar circumstances, and the cases represent 25 percent of the "outing" incidents monitored by SLDN this year. The category refers to cases in which a service member's sexual orientation is revealed by another individual to a supervisor without the member's consent.

The individuals affected -- nine men and one woman -- include a Farsi linguist, a doctor, an intelligence analyst and a communications operator. At least three served in the Iraq war. Five of the cases involved profiles on Gay.com, which is owned by PlanetOut Inc.

Howe's case started this spring in Iraq with a Web log, or blog, the Army asked him to create so that his unit could easily update friends and family back home. One of the photos he posted to the blog depicted a vehicle that was blown up by a rocket. A commander who was senior to Howe's direct supervisor objected to the photo and quietly started a background investigation on Howe, which led to the discovery of his Connexion.org profile from 2004.

Howe, 32, enlisted in the Army after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, taking a leave of absence from his job in corporate marketing. He was already open with family and friends about his sexuality, but his desire to help his country exceeded his concern about the military's gay ban.

"Going back in the closet was a trade-off I could make briefly," Howe said in an interview with the PlanetOut Network.

"With my understanding of 'don't ask, don't tell,' I thought I was fine," the Chicago resident said. "I didn't realize my personal ad was a violation of the policy. You don't receive any training about it during your military orientation."

In addition to Howe, four service members have been discharged this year because of online ads. The five others have either been retained or are fighting to be retained, according to SLDN.

The military's actions have angered many advocates for online privacy and LGBT rights.

"It's bigoted, wasteful and expensive for us all when the U.S. military continues to violate its own policy regarding the privacy of off-duty gay personnel by investigating and discharging them for seeking companionship with other gay people online," said Will Doherty, executive director of the Online Policy Group.

After hearing about Howe's story, Tim Gill, founder of Connexion.org, posted an alert in the help section of his site for military members. Gay.com also has a message to members that has been posted since last year, when the online outing trend first came to light.

"It’s just wrong that the military is engaged in a witch hunt for LGBT service members," Gill said. "Connexion is committed to help its members serving in the military protect their identities from discovery."

"Gay.com provides lifelines to LGBT people who want to connect with their friends, family and loved ones in a safe and welcoming environment," said Spencer Moore, director of corporate communications for PlanetOut Inc. "For lesbians and gays in the U.S. armed forces -- who serve courageously in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world but are not allowed under 'don't ask, don't tell' to be honest about who they are -- our communications channels and the community they provide are even more vital. Our company was outraged to learn that some service members who have recently been discharged for being gay or lesbian had their use of Gay.com cited as evidence against them."

Sharra Greer, SLDN's director of law and policy, said the military interprets "don't ask, don't tell" more broadly than many people realize, and it can include seemingly innocuous statements or actions outside a professional context.

"Any statement of your sexual orientation at any time, to anyone, is a violation," she said. "But many service members don't understand that."

The agency has posted tips to help military personnel protect their identities online, such as avoiding screen names containing the words "army," "navy," "soldier" or other military-specific terminology.

"We cannot emphasize enough what a serious risk a military screen name is for a service member; it creates a red flag just waiting to be brought to a command's attention," said Steve Ralls, SLDN spokesman.

SLDN is awaiting a ruling on its lawsuit to end "don't ask, don't tell," which was argued in federal court last month.

Howe's discharge was honorable, based on his record, and he has returned to Chicago to pursue a law degree. His advice to gays and lesbians hoping to enlist in the military: "Be careful."

"[Potential gay recruits] should contact SLDN or another LGBT support group to talk it over before enlisting," he said. "I would recommend that people get fully educated about 'don't ask, don't tell' so that they are going in with their eyes open."

Sex & Libido Dysfunction or Impotence:

Sex & Libido Dysfunction or Impotence:

Definition:
Inability (usually of a male to copulate):

Traditionally, when the male is unable to get or sustain a FIRM erection, long enough to penetrate a vagina or anus, he was considered IMPOTENT. Over the years, clinical studies have refuted that conception. It has been proven to be quite the contrary;

Most men during their adolescent years or way into their forties-fifties and sixties, will at some point in their sexual life, experience periods of "erectile dysfunction."

This can stem from several things. eg

* Alcoholism or excessive use of alcohol before sexual intercourse, or a history of alcoholic consumption.

* Recreational drugs like GHB-Crystal meth- Excessive Marijuana Usage- Crack, & other party drugs.

* IDU or Injection drug use of heroine, can also be a factor that contributes to ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION.

* A person who is DIABETIC and is using medication for it.

* Prostrate problems that causes one to be on medication for it.

* A heavy cigarette smoker, or smoking cigarettes generally.

* Lack of exercise: Too much fatty foods: OBESITY or Too Much Body fat.

* Depression: Or feelings of helplessness or in-adequacy.
Which may stem from depression.

SOLUTIONS:

* Consulting with your doctor for help, is a necessity:

* There are a host of drugs available to help, or remedy this problem.
eg, VIAGRA: CIALICE: CELEBREX: LIPITOR: TESTOSTERONE: etc.

* I would suggest that if you are married, or living with a mate (male or female), you both should see and discuss this problem together with a doctor.

That will help the doctor to fully comprehend the situation, it's causes, and how much it affects your sex life together, thus making it easier for him/her to recommend a solution.

* Make sure that the doctor you see, has the knowledge or is qualified to deal with this kind of malady. If he/she isn't, then ask him/her to give you a reference to some other doctor who is qualified to do so.

FINALLY:
* Females too have LIBIDO problems, which can be a factor of inadequate stimulation, or the inability to reach climax during sexual intercourse.

* Partners who are unable to make her fully sexually aroused, or no foreplay:

* An experience or flashback of sexual abuse like rape, or sexual ill-treatment from a former mate or partner.

* Distractions like A PORN MOVIE, which you might be distracted by or more focused on, except her during sex.

* Not asking your woman or wife if you are making her fully aroused. Or not asking her what part of her body makes her fully aroused during foreplay.

* Both of you (together) should discuss this problem with a qualified doctor, who is experienced or qualified in this field.

Om Shanti.

The Un-examined Life:

From: LoveLustAndLies.com

Question:

* The Un-examined Life:

* Is It Worth Living?

This question was raised by kissFm .com Radio Host (Michael Baisden), on LoveLustAndLies.com recently, and I thought that it would be a very good topic to be discussed here too.

Personally, I believe that every individual must take inventory of his/her life, or life-style. This helps with forward planning, and objective thinking. And helps the individual to see himself/herself in relation to the present moment. There can never be too much reflection of inward scrutiny! life is too short for us to waste it on the petty & frivolous. Then at the end of our time here on this planet, we are still wondering what have we really done or achieved that was so important or significant.

I also believe that as individuals on this planet, we are also a part of the cosmic web of life, and that every action done by each individual, affects (directly or indirectly) the entire cosmic experience spiritually. No man is an island onto his/herself. The global village or community that it has now become, with the advent of the telephone, telegraph, the airplane, ocean going vessels, the Internet, and mass inter-continental transportation, has enabled communication between cultures & geographic territories, hitherto impossible.

Therefore, striving for and cultivating meaningful relationships with each other, helps greatly to make our sojourn here pleasant, meaningful & sometimes even peaceful.

Om Shanti.
