Opera 7.50: First Impressions

They always say first impressions are the most important. Well, here they are...
After using Opera 7.50 for about a week (I downloaded it the night before it was announced on the front page of Opera.com), I must say that I am very impressed. This new final release is better than I ever could have expected. So many things have changed. First off, the interface. IMHO, it looks a lot cleaner and very well-organized. The new icons are great, nice and small, just how I like them. I have heard some people complaining about how the top of the browser takes up too much of the screen now. Well, I am willing to give up an extremely small fraction of the screen to allow a better design and better overall look and feel of the browser. Very nice work, Opera Software!
Regarding the general performance of the browser, I am also very pleased in this area. While there is not too much of a noticeable difference here, it is still better, even if not by much. Opera's performance seemed faster and smoother all-around than before. This came in all areas of the browser, not just page-loading.
Feature wise, among other things, there is the obvious addition of the Chat feature (IRC), which everyone has been talking about. Unfortunately, however, since the very first Opera 7.50 Preview, I have not been able to get this feature to work for me. After I created an account, I was not able to get it to connect, for some reason. This was after quite a long time of trying to find out what was wrong and why it was not working. However, I could find no solution. This is very disappointing to me, because I have been very anxious to try out the new Chat feature, as it seems very cool. Out of all the changes from Opera 7.23 to Opera 7.50, this is the only one that has disappointed me, and only because I could not get it to work. I am sure that otherwise, it was a great addition to the Opera package.
I did like the small improvements made to M2, the mail client. That seems to be working much more smoothly now, which is very cool. It is definitely still the best mail client in existence, just as Opera has always been the best browser.

If you've got the a/c fixed, it shows in your email accounts. If it is there I can't see why it shouldnt work. Good luck anyway.

Thanks for the comment, though! I hope you have fun with the IRC client yourself, hehe.
