Second post in 2010 (and that within one week!)

Yesterday, I a rare occasion happened to me! One that only happens every 2 to 3 years. I saw a movie that I really liked! So much that I really didn't want to stop, and that I regretted when this movie was over. Other times that this has happened was watching "Pulp Fiction", "Magnolia", "American Beaty" and "Amelie". It shares the plot with the other movies that actually pretty not much is happening. There are no monsterious alies trying to destroy the Earth, no explosions and car chases... The plot involves characters, lines and serious acting. And bowling!
The movie that impressed me yesterday was The Big Lebowski, I have the feeling that I have to see it another 3 or 4 times to really understand the whole story.

So a challenge here for the comments, give me your list of movies, maybe we can make an ultimate movie canon here..

First post in 2010

Suddenly I woke-up in the night realizing that there is still some blog somewhere, totally neglected by me. So what has happened in 2010 until now? A lot actually: I will give a very brief summary

  • I hurt my ear in January. How has this happened, I told the story IRL a lot of times and actually I am very reluctant to tell about the cause. The effect nevertheless was a complete severed eardrum, later an ear infection and has resulted in something called Tinnitus in my affected ear. I am still under medical attention since this condition affects my daily life seriously.
  • I visited Mossman and Jazzmos in actually the same week I broke my ear.
  • In February nothing really much interesting happened
  • March is of course the birthday of the twins. One party is of course not enough anymore these days, so we have been celebrating this birthday all the way into May.
  • In April I visited the JEC composite fair in Paris, together with my colleague. Very nice venue and an excuse to eat Vietnamese again
  • In May we took a week vacation in Vaals (southeast end of the Netherlands), was very relaxing and we will visit this park more!
  • June is the month of my birthday and in order to avoid everybody, I booked myself a meeting in Bristol, hometown of Brunel! Since then it has been fabeausly nice weather.
  • In July I will visit the Farnborough air show and stay in London.

Dutch topographic anomaly

Whoever really observes the map of The Netherlands notices this strait line in the north stretching across a serious part of sea. This line is actually a very long dyke and was constructed almost 100 years ago.



I always wanted to film the effect it has when you cross it by car (there is a highway constructed on top of it) because for 20 minutes ore more while driving 120 km/h (time it takes to cross the dyke) you actually do not need to steer.

Well another time lapse movie here (made during a typical Dutch december type of weather):
