Dicque Magnetics new car

,

This weekend we bought a new car. The main requirements were:
1 Car that is for some reason ridiculously cheap
2 Place for three children seats
3 Car built after 2005

Fulfilling requirement 1 meant or a Lancia (they are mostly very cheap) or an ex-lease car. This last option also means a diesel engine. It also means to avoid the Volvo's, VW, Audi's, BMW's and strangely also most of the Japanese cars. So Italian or French is then the best option.
Requirement 2 was the most stringent. Putting 3 children in a car is no big deal, they will even fit in a Fiat 500. But having three seats means a no to the environment and a car from the higher middle-class end. Since they tend to be cheaper in used version point 1 was also more easily met. This requirement also rules out another Lancia (Well the new Delta is surprisingly spacious), since even the Lybra appeared to small. And the Thesis is no option since this car has two seats in the back and thus no bench.
About 3 a car after 2005 means all the modern safety bits and pieces. It also makes it more easy to get a used lease car since most contracts expire after 4 years.

After investigating a lot on the internet the down select was a Renault Vel Satis, a Renault Grand Scenic or a 407. The first two were discarded and then I stumbled upon the car below:

Its a 407 SW 2.0 HDI full options from 2005 (november) and next Friday, I will be the new owner. I will trade in the Delta, be posted here, a necrology of this very loyal car will be posted in the upcoming days.

Yesterday we had the company day out. First we went to the ECT, the bigest container terminal of Europe. Then we had a decadent lunch, after which we boarded a barge and had a very quite and relaxed boat cruise in Rotterdam. While standing at the backside of the boat suddenly two powerboats (type semi-ridgid) appeared and yes they were ordered by the organizers..
So every body had the opportunity to ride the Rotterdam waterways with 80 km/hr.. (Which is very fast especially when there are waves involved). (I will post some pictures when the are published)
After that we had the usual drink, dinner and desert...
But what about the spider...

After the party, a bus brought us back the where we parked the car. While cruising home at 22:00, with a little too much alcohol (I was still under the limit though), suddenly a spider that appeared to have chosen my car as its new home, decided to come down from the car ceiling just in front of my eyes. It was quite a large spider and I managed to throw it away out of my face. Needles to say, that also caused the car to make erratic moves and I was all over the highway. I avoided the side bars of the high way and decided that a spider was no reason to crash the car. I pulled over to the nearest gas station (can you imagine the tension of those km-ers, knowing there is somewhere in the car this large spider...) and at the gas station I was able to free the spider back to the outside world.
So that was the conclusion, just when I thought of it, actually I almost killed a spider yesterday by crashing the car..
