Little mouth chirurgic

, , , ...

Since a year I have little stones in my saliva gland. The biggest one poped out of my gland and ended just short of the saliva outlet just under my tongue.
Nothing to worry about but since the gland started to become infected time to go to the doctor. Doctor sent me to the jaw chirurgic and just when I had the intake visit went on a long holiday trip. And guess what, the stone went back into the gland. Bummer, last summer the chirurgic tried to retreive the stone, but no success.
In January, the stone came out again. So to make a long story short, I ended up in a different hospital. Time between intake and real practise was much shorter now.
End of march, I visited the doctor in the hospital and we made two appointments. One for an echo and one to remove the stones in a chirurgic way. Last friday (30 march) I had the echo and last tuesday I had the real thing.
The echo was weird. Sitting in the waiting room with only women (for breast examination) every body was looking at me, like what's he doing there. The echo is similar to the one they use for investigating pregnant women. Funny to see this apparatus beeing used on me (We went a lot for the echo's for the twins)
Then they left the room ("we have to discuss the results") and left me (partially undressed) for almost half an hour. At this stage, all sort of thought wander through your mind, like, Did they find something and are they now discussing how to tell me? What if it is bad? What shall I do if the message is bad? Shall I quit my job and travel the world? What kind of songs do I want to have played at my funeral?
But then they came back and said the the chirurgic will tell me the results. Arrggg...
Well last tuesday I went to the hospital. Exactly on time I entered and was asked to wait. After 15 minutes, the doctor called me.
So there I went. First he discussed with me the results of the echo. Inconclusive he said, we might need to take a punture (that means with a long thick needle, enter the gland from the outside and retreive some material to be investigated in a lab), brr...).
And now open your mouth. Oh, btw, he brought in an extra doctor and two students since this was kind of rare.
I got an injection with the anaesthesia in the tissue under my tongue. After a few minutes, my tongue dissapeared (that means it was seduced). And then came the knive. I didn't feel a thing (but my mouth became warm and wet which meant that I was bleeding)and then with a pincet, he grabbed the stone. It happened that the stone became attached to the saliva channel under my tongue. This part was not seduced and I really felt that. The doctors asked me if I needed additional anaesthisia, but I wanted the ordeal to be over, so I shaked no.
After some wrestling and cutting, the stone came loose and a couple of stones that were behind this one also came loose. All was left was a gigantic hole under my tongue, since also a quie large part of the saliva channel came loose.
After cleening me up, they let me go. And in th car going home, I felt the anaesthetigic wearing out and a ripping pain emerged. It is now thursday and still the pain is quite there. I take the maximum amount of paracetamol but everytime I eat of drink, I have to endure the pain. This is good for my weight, since I do not eat much anymore. I asked the doctors to have the stones and they are quite impressive, considering the fact that they were under my tongue and were there for almost one year. I wanted to see them to make sure that they were not small radio transmittors :D (seen too much x-files I think)
Well that's the story, next tuesday I have to go back for a check-up and then they will also perform the puncture...

Wish me luck
