It's been awhile since my last entry. Ever since I was fired from my job, I've been busy driving around Texas visiting family and friends. First, I dropped in on Granny Roberts in Beaumont.
If Houston is the armpit of Texas, Beaumont is the swelling zit on its' back. It lies in the center of the "Golden Triangle", the birthplace of the oil industry.
I call it the "Cancer Triangle". My grandmother is dying from it, which is what prompted the visit.
Next stop was Conroe, where my cousin lives. She just got a six figure offer in Austin selling hearing aides to musicians, schools, old people, ect. It's very exciting to see her succeed. She's been going to school forever...
I'm currently in Austin (my second home) visiting friends. Mary, my favorite ex and best friend just got an offer to be a news anchor up in Dayton, Ohio. She's pumped up to get back in TV.
A few years ago, she was fired from Fox news for questioning authority, which is what we thought journalism was all about....or was supposed to be.
Yesterday a few of us got together and went tubing in the Guadalupe River. It was fantastic to forget about all of my trivial problems back in New Orleans, and focus on my tan. The chilly water tickled my skin, and for the first time in days, I felt reconnected.
Tommorrow, I head for Dallas to drop in on some old activist friends, and by next Monday, it'll be back to the daily grind.
Until then, Peace...
