Viva Chavez!

"Politics: A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles." - Ambrose Bierce
It's been a while since I've tossed my bandana into the political arena.
I can't listen to the news without having the urge to upchuck my soul onto the coffee
table. As far as I'm concerned, the daily newspaper serves three purposes:
1. I use it to pack gifts into boxes. (I send out lots of random gifts to people.)
2. Paper Mache' (If I actually did it I would use it for that)
3. It separates my kitchen table from pounds of boiled crawfish.
But I have to write something about Hugo Chavez. The democratically-elected leader of Venezuela has come out in support of Iran's nuclear program. He has stated that if we attack Iran, he would cut off oil supplies to the U.S.
Venezeula is the 4th largest supplier of oil in the world.
If Iran and Venezeula both cut us off, oil would easily go up to over $100 a barrel.
Here's the article.
Many people are led to believe he's some kind of crazy dictator. The spin machine strikes again.
He was elected by his people in 1998 in a landslide victory. 80% of the Venezuelan population is poor and he planned on redistributing the oil wealth. So in 2002, the U.S. helped the wealthy Venezuelan oil tycoons stage a coup and remove him from office. In the years leading up to this event, Chavez circulated the constitution to inform citizens of their rights. He told them to learn it because one day they would have to use it. He was right. Shortly after the coup, the people rose up and put their leader back in office. Unfortunately, because of the complete lack of trustworthy news we recieve in AmeriKKKa, we heard a different story.
But that's how it should work, dammit. If we had a leader that we supported, our country would kick ass. And by that I don't mean BOMB THE FUCK out of third world countries...
If you haven't seen "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised",you have the chance now. It's the true story of what happened in Venezuela. I get choked up every time I watch it and like direct action it comes highly recommended. The people of Venezuela are lucky to have such a strong and honest leader. I wish we could say the same. Viva Chavez! Peace!
(This video is 74 minutes long but well worth it. The subtitles are kinda blurry as well. You can always go to Google video and look it up.)
