I'm Taking Requests...again....finally.
Monday, January 8, 2007 2:47:21 PM
So, a few months ago, I started taking requests for songs to be covered by me in simple fashion. Just an acoustic guitar and a little keyboard action. My laptop crashed, however, and I stopped doing it. I finally got a new laptop a few months back and finally got the software I've been waiting for so I'm back on the case. No new requests right now though. I've got LOTS of catching up to do!
Keep checking back in to hear more requests.
Alright, here's where we left off...

Alright, here's where we left off...
OK! First up: This one goes out to Michelle!!
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - 1939
music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg
I really liked the way this turned out.
Next up: Sarah, this one's for you. I only listened to this twice, so it's a bit sloppy. But, it could be worse!
"The Only Living Boy in New York" - 1970
Written by Paul Simon
A bit of trivia: Simon wrote this as a thinly-veiled message to Art Garfunkel, referring to a specific incident where Garfunkel went to Mexico to act in the film Catch-22. Simon was left alone in New York writing songs for Bridge over Troubled Water, hence the lonely feelings of "The Only Living Boy In New York." Simon refers to Garfunkel in the song as Tom, referring to their early days when they were called Tom and Jerry.
ZEROG!!! You made me do it! You're lucky we're friends. This is totally not my style, and I CAN NOT do that voice but you knew that you sly dog! Now give me money!
"Love Will Tear Us Apart" - 1977?
A bit of trivia: Joy Division refers to a group of women used as sex slaves in Nazi concentration camps, as depicted in Ka-tzetnik 135633's 1955 novel The House of Dolls. The band dissolved in May 1980 after the suicide of its lead singer, Ian Curtis. The remaining members reformed as New Order and went on to achieve much critical and commercial success.
This one is for you Koma! "California Dreaming" - 1965
Written by The Mamas and the Papas
Alright, here’s the list I have to go through before any new requests can be taken:
Capegirl – Rodriguez’s “Sugar Man”
Sanshan – Gordon Lightfoot’s “Sundown”
Ulie Juggins – Tom Petty’s “Free Falling”
Musickna - Cole Porter's "All Through The Night"
WickedLizard – “Zing went the Strings of my Heart”
Gdare – Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”
Tatianalondon-“Fever”
Rolling Thunder – A-ha’s “Take on Me”
Janbar – Eric Clapton’s “Layla”
Sonam Dangers – Bob Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay”
Moickel – The Monkey Butler’s “Working Man’
Gdare - Beau Jocque’s “ A Little Love Always Make It Bettah”
Mommyluvsliz – “Moon River”

As soon as I catch up, I’ll be taking more requests. Also working on an album of originals…

Now....if I can only get my husband to sing to me I am sure
that would put him a little higher up on my 'to do' list.

I'd forgotten about all of these songs.
Thanks San!
After doing this for a little while, I'll have a head FULL of refreshed ideas as far as my own material goes. So, all of you are recharging my batteries and I thank you!
I've drawn you into a symbiotic whirlpool in which both parties become more and more satisfied until they explode into a pool of gooey love. Oh wait.
That's sex. Nevermind.
You got a request San? Let me please you.

And crazy news. Thanks to Michelle for requesting "Over the Rainbow". My sister just called and wants me to re-record a longer version to be played at her wedding in May! Now I'm a wedding singer!

If you don't like it,there are others songs I'd like to hear from you like "Cheek to Cheek" by Cole Porter,"As time goes by" from Casablanca and even "Whatever will be, will be".
I heard "Somewhere Over the Rainbown" and "California Dreamin"!
You're really cool!

... Take On Me by A-ha
Of course, I expect you to modify the song as you like - just wanna hear how you would do it!
janbar # Tuesday, January 16, 2007 4:37:40 AM
?
Just song and play a "Layla" by Eric Clapton, first version.
Dillon RobertsDillonRoberts # Tuesday, January 16, 2007 4:52:43 AM
and there's a reason he's famous. I enjoy writing and singing way more. It's just relaxing, ya know? We'll see.
Hey Rollin Thunder.
"Take on Me"? I'll have to think about that as well. I would definitely
have to slow it down and totally change it. Again, we'll see.
I have to get this damn computer fixed before I can do anything.

I feel you can rock with Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay".
It'll be a perfect song for you.

Yeah Dangers, "Lay Lady Lay" rocks. Once again, I think there's like 10 songs in front of you or something, but I can't record until my laptop is fixed. It may be a couple of weeks.
