Operation VanGuard: "Cover the Cold" - Part 2

Well, the load of sleeping bags I claimed from the street have found their way into needy, trembling hands. There is a homeless shelter a few blocks down from me, but rather than walk in and distribute the few I had amongst the throng of malcontents imbedded within, I decided to let them find me. It happened indirectly at a local bar this Sunday.
I ran into a girl named Sarah who bartends close to the shelter. After six o'clock when the free meals are devoured, a few of the more entrepreneurial bums head to her bar for a quick liver fix. I asked her if she would be the judge and a conduit. She said yes.
Later that evening she was mugged and badly injured.
Not by bums mind you. She's OK now. I dropped off the sleeping bags tonight, and I believe some folks slept a little better.
Tonight I was nearly killed by the same thugs that attacked her. Things are getting worse here. I don't feel like writing about it now. There's too many things I want to say let alone scream. I just want to be a good person and there seems to be a growing number of people in this area who are anti-that. I've got to clear my head up before I continue. I'll write more when I don't feel like ranting and sounding unclear about my experience.
Many of you know Esme_11. She use to live down here in New Orleans and a similar thing happened to her. Read about it HERE.
PEACE.
