Stage6 Shutting Down
Tuesday, February 26, 2008 12:59:18 AM
Monday, February 25th, 2008.
Stage6's homepage displays a blog entry, posted by a DivX employee (Tom aka Spinner) announcing the closure of the website, claiming that "Stage6 is a very expensive enterprise" that DivX can't maintain, or so they say.
With the hack of the website still very fresh and the Universal Music Group lawsuit, things start to smell fishy. Tom's words should be taken with a grain of salt or maybe with the whole saltcellar.
What's true is that users all around the world lost one of the best websites the internet has ever seen: high quality, streaming/downloadable content, with a large collection for all tastes.
