I've just watched the movie called 'Zodiac' and that was so awesome, that I don't have enough words 2 describe it properly. But I'll try.
This movie is 'bout one of the most famous serial killers in the U.S., whose identity even now still remain unknown.
The film was directed by David Fincher, which means, that the movie is great already. I actually love David Fincher's style of movies. When I've been watching 'Se7en', it looked kinda strange & boring 4 me, but it was 'bout 2 years ago, and my tastes have changed since that. David Fincher's style is very unusual, but it doesn't mean something bad at all, I'd even say, that it's way more better than it could be. That slow-paced description of the investigation could be seemed kinda boring, but for me it was even better, 'cause it seems like classical noir movie (only in color) - that slow-paced description makes you more attended to details, but they r shown in a very aesthetically way. It's like 'Calm down, man, don't ya see, it's even cooler if u look in such a way'.
The movie shows the investigation of serial kills from 3 sides. There was a policemen, a cool journalist and a simple caricaturist, who'd been involved in the investigation by accident. In the beginning, the investigation went well, a lot of people being worked on that case, but Zodiac was not just a serial killer, especially, if u heard sth. 'bout him. He rang to police after his own kills without any fear, he sent a few letters to the police with an encoded information 'bout himself, but they were so hard 2 encode, that the information is still unknown.
The plot takes place in the U.S. of 60s-80s, and that atmosphere was done completely awesome. The decorations, the cars, the fashion - all of these were just like in any movie from that time (Alfred Hichсock's 'Psycho' proves the similarity of atmosphere in that two movies, u can find other movies, that proove it, by the way). The music also helped to feel that 'old noir' atmosphere.
Director of photography's work were good and helped to concentrate on actors' work, which was also good. Robert Downey Jr. has played very complicated character, and his history of fall was done completely amazing. Jake Gyllenhaal also played very well, but he was a little worse instead of Robert Downey Jr..
All in all, the movie is very good neo-noir movie, that is made with Fincher's handwriting, so, if u like some of that, u should totally watch the movie.
