Opera is not a web browser, Opera is an internet suite dedicated to giving you quick and easy access to information. They already have included E-Mail and RSS. The way I see it this breaks down to :

Rss = News, Updates

Web pages = Information obtained by using a Google search on a specific subject.

Widgets : How often do you find information that is right in front of you but you don't get it? More often than you think. Widgets are for those words that you don't know the meaning of, for a quick Google Image search on that animal with that weird name. A quick conversion between pounds and euros.

Widgets are here to translate information into thing that you can understand it doesn't matter if it is a word, a unit or a thing something you need some help identifying what is behind it.

Ubuntu installation problemsOpera and Google Desktop Search - Anyone got it working?

Yes. I do agree. Widgets are a nifty pieces of software that allows you to get some information or do some task. I just don't understand the reason for putting it into the software application. It's a part of Desktop, not a software app.

the weather widgets i find the most useful of all. no need to load a whole site just for that kind of info

mxforce: Windows users? Heard about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurize ? It exists since 2002. There are tons of software like that. I don't see any reason to put it inside the browser. (while I see a great point in putting bit torrent client in the browser for example)

integration to me is key. No need to install or launch too many software for say a weather widget. Since browser is already on and chances are I'm gonna need to check weather or something similar, i see no need for extra progs. Plus its zany if thats a good enough reason. he he. I think this is reasonable enough but I just wish they made the widgets a bit more powerful. Either that or people develop more widgets.

well, following this way, every app you could possibly use should have feature set of every other app, because there is a chance that you will want to use one app and features from others ;>

chances are that most app can't be as resource efficient as Opera :smile:
