Welcome. I'm just a little confused after I fell from the moon. As a result I created what 250 000 monkeys in spacesuits would do if they were given a typewriter each. But don't worry. The monkeys with spacesuits separate this blog from blogs written by regular monkeys with typewriters. Don't you agree with that? Then say so in the guest book!
Have a look at the place you're in. Do you see a computer or device in front of you? Are you sitting in a chair, on a bench, in a sofa or even walking? Can you feel the device you're using to read this? Reality is very much solid. We can see, smell, hear and feel it.
But what if we're wrong? What if what we can see, touch, feel, smell and hear is just an illusion? What if what we sense is just one way of looking at reality? What if reality as we see it is an illusion? Join me on a mental journey to uncover the nature of reality, with some highly hypothetical ideas that attempt to unify us with reality.
As a member of My Opera with a high search engine ranking I get a lot of visits from people whom really were looking for something else. Here are some of them:

I'm pretty sure that's impossible. Because when it's without registration, all the pedophiles, douchebags and dorks gather there like flies to fresh poo.
The microchip. Growing smaller and smaller by the years. It'll keep up. So will everything else in your bulky computer, until the point where you can't see it. The only traces of the computer will be a discrete simple interface you can take with you everywhere. So where will it go? Think small. Smaller than a cellphone. Think really, really small. At the nanoscale. The future computers will be woven into clothing fibres, mixed with the very ground we walk on or even in our bloodstream. Invisible computers will be everywhere there's people.
The cost of nanoengineering will greatly decrease in the upcoming years. It used to be a very time consuming and expensive process, where a scientist had to build things atom for atom. But not any more. Pre-programmed viruses will assemble the very atoms required to make computer components. All powered by a solution of nutritients and elements required to build these nanomaterials. Nanomachines will assemble these computers. They will even assemble new nanomachines. The result will be fully functional computers, small enough to be voven as fibres into clothes or mixed with any liquid.
All these nanocomputers will be networked and share their computing power with the entire world. The interface to use this processing power can be a surface covered with light-emitting nanomachines, nanomachines in your retina or even nanomachines directly connected to your brain cells.
Anyone will be able to tap into a omnipresent network of processing power. We could process vast information just by thinking, we'd be able to design the most complex things at the blink of an eye. And we'll unlock secrets of science we'd never though possible. With the upcoming revolution in computers, the future of the mankind could even take one of two distinct turns. A utopian future where mankind shapes theirselves and their lives in any way they wish. And a dystopian one where a evil superpower controls everything and not even your thought is free.
We have to decide what our future will bear now, before it's too late. If we continue to let our lives in the hands of a few elite people, they could very well be the ones in charge of that dystopian future. But if we put the power back in our own hands, the computer revolution will lead to a utopia even better than you can imagine with your meat err brain now.

Meet the Tesla Roadster. In the spirit of Nikola Tesla, the Austrian electric wizard whom dreamed of free energy for all, Tesla Roadster is a electric sports car more than worthy of that title. It's high-tech, looks quite good, and accelerates like crazy. Tesla Roadster is different from other sports cars mainly because of one thing... an electric motor. Thanks to its electric motor it does 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds.
Tesla Roadster comes in an era in great need for change. Gas prices soar and we're seeing wars for energy. Pollution is only increasing. So I'm hoping Tesla Roadster is the start of something new. A market of all-electric vehicles. This would mean cars that are cheaper to drive.
It does the equivalent of 135 miles per gallon and 220 miles per charge. That's 2 cents per mile. All thanks to its advanced lithium-ion battery. However, the price is less pleasant. It costs $109,000 USD. That's a bit more expensive than similar sports cars. Let's hope for cheaper EV's with a high range soon.
But why an electric vehicle? Why not a fuel cell, hydrogen, bio-fuel or hybrid car? They're all eco-friendly and go further. While these vehicles have the advantages of gasoline, they aren't as eco-friendly as a battery EV. They also have many of the disadvantages of gasoline. Some of them can even be worse for the environment than gasoline.
Fuel cells consume hydrogen usually. Hydrogen produces only water-vapor, also in hydrogen-combustion engines. However it's expensive to produce and energy will be wasted because it needs to be transported via trucks to gas stations. Large oil companies are also the ones who'll produce and distribute hydrogen, which means your money will go to the same hands as before.
Bio-fuels are derived from recently dead biological materials, unlike oil which comes from biological materials dead a long time ago. Bio-fuels are usually ethanol or plant oil. Since these plants consume carbon-dioxide from the atmosphere, they're carbon-neutral which means they don't pollute. But since these fuels are grown in fields, land suitable for food crops is used for bio-fuels instead. This means less food will be produced and food prices worldwide will increase. Bio-fuels are just as bad or even worse than fossil fuels.
Hybrid cars usually have two sources of propulsion. Gasoline and batteries. You can run a hybrid car off batteries only, but most hybrids have a very low range for their battery power, which means they'll switch to gasoline once you drive far enough with them. A hydrogen-battery hybrid could however be a good compromise until the range of battery driven cars improve.
A battery driven electric vehicle is still the most eco-friendly alternative. It's however not completely eco-friendly. Large amounts of today's electrical energy is produced from coal. Coal pollutes a lot more than other energy sources. However, it has been shown that you can run an entire home and an electric vehicle completely off solar power and still sell electricity back to the grid. Making such a home is expensive though because of the high production cost of solar cells. Recent advances in solar film might however make solar cells cheaper in the future. Let's also hope the world soon stops using fossil fuels for electricity too.
Tesla Roadster might signal a future with less pollution and more power in the hands of drivers. Advances in battery technology, engine technology and lower prices one these cars are needed however before the world can ditch solid fuels completely.
The 16th of November 2007, Super Mario Galaxy for Wii achieved a higher average rating from websites with video game reviews than The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Super Mairo Galaxy had 97.9%, against The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's 97.5%. And it was well deserved.
After playing Super Mario Galaxy for a while, I'm in total awe. Everything is just so awesome about it. The gameplay is the richest I've ever experienced. Ideas from every era of Super Mario are mixed with new ideas, some never seen before in a game. Among the news are small planets, which have interesting gravity effects. You can actually orbit around some planets with a long jump. Some other news are the way you're launched from launch stars to visit new areas and planets, and things you can ride, such as koopa shells and manta rays and rolling orbs. Among the powerups; the fire flower and the rainbow star (invincibillity) return. You can also fly in this game with the bee mushroom.
The visuals in this game are absolutely stunning and a feast for the eyes. The 3D models are enhanced with beautiful effects. It doesn't matter if the Wii doesn't pack the most graphics power. The visuals of Super Mario Galaxy makes it clear that it's one of the big boys in terms of game graphics on consoles today.
The soundtrack is so fantastic it's hard to describe it. It's incredibly rich. You'll find both new melodies and melodies you love from previous games. They're beautifully arranged with their own orchestra, or some times exciting electronica. The soundtrack change with new areas or events, sparking stronger feelings. This is the first game I've played with music that make the game more entertaining.
Super Mario Galaxy is everything you know from previous Mario games and more. It's a long-lasting, entertaining experience. It's memorable and replayable. This game will be remembered as the highlight of gaming in this decade. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Excite Truck and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption together with software like The Internet Channel made the Wii much more than worth it. With the addition of Super Mario Galaxy to the Wii game catalouge, I'd say not owning a Wii and one or more of these games is a shame. Because you're missing out on some the best entertainment you can experience today.
I've been running polls in my blog sidebar for a while. And the last time I asked, "What's your favorite posession?"
I recieved 26 answers. Here are the results:
Mobile phone (31%)
Personal computer (31%)
Games console (4%)
Portable media player (4%)
Garment or accessory (4%)
Vehicle (4%)
Pet (12%)
Computer peripheral (0%)
Toy (0%)
Home decoration item (4%)
Tool (8%)
This shows that you, my readers are of the kind that like technology, just like me. Although some of you really like your pets and tools too! You're all really cool!
This time I have a new poll. I would like to know what you think of my blog title and slogan. My title is "The Launch Site" and my slogan is "Launch into cyberspace with me". I've recieved some fairly unexpected comments about it. And now more of you get the chance to say what you mean. The poll can be found further down the page in the sidebar. It's a multiple choice poll, so get your clicky finger out! If there's not enough options, you could make a comment here. I really hope you all want to make a comment about your choices!
It's quite simple to change your blog banner with most of the blog themes available. Sleek Shady Beta is no exception.
The default banners are 920 pixels horizontally and 170 pixels vertically. You should scale and crop the image you want to use as a banner to that size. You can make a smaller banner too if you want to. In my case, I made a transparent GIF image of Dr. Launch, drawn by Freek Zijlmans and used really simple CSS to put it in front of the default banner. The advantage of my method is that you can change your theme as much as you want and your banner will still look like it should.
So how do you change your banner image? By editing the custom stylesheet for your account. The custom stylesheet editor can be found by following these instructions:
Click the custom stylesheet link from the line below the Select a design text
You're now looking at the custom stylesheet editor. You're supposed to add CSS code to it to make modifications to your blog design. So how do you add a banner image of the size 920 x 170 to your design? By adding the following code to your custom stylesheet:
Change the address seen in the code to the address of your transparent GIF image. It will appear in the bottom right part of your banner. And it's not repeated. If you'd like to change the place the banner appears, you can change the background-position value. There are some other positions you can use for the background image. Here's a list of the basic ones:
top left
top center
top right
center left
center center
center right
bottom left
bottom center
bottom right
Change bottom right in my example to the preferred position from the list. You can also position the background image in a specific location. You can read more here.
