Cold War Thinking

All this Ho Ha over Gordon's little helper! Dirty tricks and juvenile emails - yawn!

It reminds me of the cold war antics between Russia and the USA. They squabbled like bored and spiteful children. It didn't matter who really scored points or what anybody else thought of them - they were totally self-absorbed.

Does this apply to the Tories and the Brownies - of course it does.

If we take the facts - A Downing Street minion sent nasty emails to his 'friends'. These missives slagged-off Tory ministers in the old traditional way ("Hitler has only got one ...").

How did the Tories pick up these emails? We don't know yet. Have they, perhaps, put a bug in No.10?

'Special Advisors' seem to exist to put a political spin on government activities, spread disinformation and damage the reputation of the opposition. I'm sure these individuals would have been at home in the old Soviet Union or supporting McCarthy's witch hunts. Trouble is it's the taxpayer that foots the bill.

There may come a day when politicians grow up and enter the adult world - but I doubt it.
