Another Weekend Over

Since Wednesday nothing of great importance has happened. The world is still turning, Proud Mary keeps on burning, and I'm nowhere near the river.

Spent Saturday night dancing to Lynn Render & The Falconers. Brilliant caller - clear and concise (wish I could emulate her). The band were pretty good as well - accordion & flute.

Sunday saw me crawl out of bed at 08:30 hrs after being awoken by a cacophony of dog barking an hour earlier. The night had been stifling. Clouds now threatened but Nil Desperandum I was off to a plant sale. It's supposed to start at 09:30 but if you turn up later than 09:15 the best stuff has already gone.

I picked up a few items of interest and wandered back to my car. It was only when I came out from under two huge horse chestnuts that I realised just how heavy the rain was. It persisted all the way home. Good job I decided to leave Mash at home for the duration.

Monday morning up at 08:00 (this is getting to be a bad habit). Off to hospital for my friend's x-rays. Nearly two hours later we escaped to make a bee line for Ryhill. Had half an hour to prep for the weekly folk dancing (luckily there were two other callers). Later I'm off wargaming - it's all go!

On the UK political scene I heard today's pronouncement that the financial situation is far worse than was at first thought. The previous government has left the country in deep debt so there will have to be cuts, cuts and more cuts. How predictable! What's that phrase about plus ca change? (French speakers please correct).
