It cannot have escaped your notice, dear reader, that the world cup starts today. Luckily the Pink & Purples have been drawn against the likes of Blefescu and Lilliput in the first round. Rubovia is already celebrating with Queen Clog and King McKenzie leading the triumphal march. Some feel that this is a bit premature but the press doesn't worry about mere facts.

The Rubovian world cup squad are ensconced in their luxury hotel somewhere deep in the South African veldt. Hairdressers, manicurists and style gurus are in attendance. The only cloud on the horizon is those damn football games. Still can't have everything can we? More from our football correspondent later.

In the UK, where those damn red & white flags are draped everywhere, life goes on. I managed to pull my achilles tendon yesterday whilst playing badminton. Ice packs to the fore. Still hurts this morning but maybe not too bad! That will teach me to play sport at my age.

Oh well here comes the weekend. Ear muffs at the ready. Hope I'm OK to dance on Saturday or I'm stuck in with next door's tv blasting the wc through the wall. Such is life!
