Cat Char in the Ryhill

Hubris in Havercroft

Pond Life

Isn't it odd how two people just don't work together? They may be fine individually but the mix is somehow tainted.

I'm a long-time Dr Who fan and have especially liked the modern incarnation. Christopher Eccleston was brilliant, David Tennant was fine but Matt Smith!!! Companions like Rose, Martha and Donna had some guts, some drive, some presence. Amy Pond is a petulant, self absorbed screamer.

I went off 'classic' Dr Who when Sylvester McCoy and Ace partnered up. The chemistry just didn't work, the series was tired and the actors had little to work with. Maybe it's the new writer/head who's at fault! For me the magic has gone out of the programme.

When Dr Who was first on women were still fighting for emancipation. It was usual to see them portrayed as an adjunct to a male lead. Times have changed and pre-Pond so had the doctor's companions. Now we find ourselves with a young doctor and an even younger assistant. What's next - Dr Who and the Pram Wars?
