From One Chick to Another..

Where under His Wings I find refuge.

She Did IT!

Not even 12 hours after taking that photo in the post below, of Bunny...she birthed 3 :eyes: BIG HEALTHY BOYS!
I was on baby goat watch all evening last night, and we didn't come into the house until 1:38 this morning.
We had to leave Bunny, in labour in the barn as it seemed that it was taking forever!
At 3:15 a.m. :coffee: I had a funny feeling in my gut that I needed to get to the barn..and so I did!
Good thing too...cuz Bunny had just birthed her first son.
I ran back to the house..and woke Peter up and told him to come quick--there were more coming!

In the next 1/2 hour...she birthed 2 more BIG boys!
Bunny is our only- non-Boer goat. She is an Alpine goat. SO her babies aren't pure Boer. That's ok...they are gorgeous nonetheless.
Check out the colours on the lad below! He looks like a Holstein cow. :D cow
That's it for us for babies for now. Abe fathered 14 babies in TOTAL.(Chase born in July) 13 born in this last week!:faint:

You should see our barn now...babies EVERYWHERE! It's really cute..they are very active & mischievous little critters. :D You can see it in their wee faces.

(Dot & Betty---a week old today!)
Have a great week-end...I know we will!
MORE PICS HERE

Another busy day...yes, more babies!A good man died.

They are soooo sweet...I just love the babies!
I have to laugh at Bunny's pic...that's exactly like her. We are selling her as soon as her babies are sold..(when weaned)
She would make someone a great pet.
We are focussing on Boers.
Thanks Lois.

Oh I wish I could take her! We'll see. Arthur has a potential customer in Ottawa. If he does decide to buy a saw and we have to go to install it, maybe we can buy her and bring her to Florida!! (Sneak her home in our suitcase??)

Oh my, I am roflol... I am not sure how you could smuggle her..she is quite large! But I would love nothing more that for her to find such a loving home!

The van is pretty big - and Arthur has so much stuff, probably no one would notice! She would have a loving home here. Probably end up in the bed like everyone else. I say, there are nights, I'm not sure where to sleep - cats and a dog EVERWHERE!

I can just imagine! Though..if you are serious...I would be so thrilled that you could just take her..

Oh Cheryl, what a week and what a lot of work for you and the goats. :eyes:
They are sooo cute, I just would hug.
Did you know: if I had a house with a meadow, I also would have a few goats. But  don't tell this my husband. :D

Where we live you can find a lot of goats. And every year (I think in april) there is a festival, called Goats-festival near our village.
I love to go there and hope that I can take some photos this year.

Congrats, Cheryl. They are truly little sweethearts - hey, will they be ready for Valentine's Day. At last your nights can be your own again - if they ever can be with all the critters you have. Seems you have received many little boys, is there as big a market for boys as for girls? Good luck with the sales. My friend at Owl Tree has three goats, one is my goatchild, named after me, and they certainly do make great pets. Very affectionate, I love to visit them.

Totally Sarah! :D

Elke.. --I love the name "Scrat"..very cute! :D

Thanks Marie..
Yes, there is a sense of relief, for now...that they are all done ..FOR now..
Last Sunday we were going to have omelets and fried potatoes and sausages for dinner...well, with all the birthing fun that afternoon..we had to postpone it till today!
We have 6 boys and 7 girls...and if they don't sell for breeding...they will for meat. :frown: I really pray they sell for breeding/pets.
The Boers are in demand...and we don't register ours so, they can go a little cheaper.
I do love their personalities too...they are definitely affectionate. I find that they've become more so, since they birthed.

Yup, meat. As a young husband-hunter I thought I would like to be a farmer's wife but was soon dissuaded by the thoughts of hard work and the final goal of animals raised. And yet I am still a meat eater, go figure. Joking (kidding) aside, I hope they go as pets too. They are just too sweet.

After we did chores last night...Peter & I just stood around and watched, as the babies played, spent time cuddling some of the babies. They are way too sweet for words!
