Cure for cancer, in chickens?

Thanks to link0....I discovered this interesting article.
Is this scary? Or does it provide hope?
Personally, I think it is frightening. :frown: But, yay chickens!, anyhow. :right:

Meet 'Shane' and a challenge to people around the world.

, ,

CHILD PROFILE

Name: Shane

Age: 7

Diagnosis: A.L.L. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Likes: all sports, building things, video games

Dislikes: being in the hospital for long periods of time

Favorite thing in the whole world: Lego

At almost 5 years old Shane was diagnosed with A.L.L. After 1 month into the treatment he was in early remission, meaning there were no cancer cells in his blood. Shane's family was very pleased with the early results, but his protocol called for 130 weeks of treatment. Then on July 6th, 2006 Shane relapsed after completing 108 of the 130 weeks. It was a shock to everyone including his doctors. Shane may have to undergo a bone marrow transplant down the road, but the good thing is that his brother Jacob is a match. Presently, there is no sign of cancer in Shane's system since relapsing.

I received this in an e-mail this morning...
Please take a quick look at the attached message - an Ottawa-area 7 year old boy, Shane, is battling Leukemia and wants to be recognized as the world record holder for having received the most wish cards. Canadians are often noted for displaying the most heart in the way they play the game of hockey - I firmly believe the people who make up the general hockey community are often deservedly applauded for being caring, down to earth people. Let's ROCK this kid and send him as many cards as we can.......

Apparently a drop-off station will be located at the Arena as well as Champlain Cleaners in Rockland - also, many other sites are listed on the KISS FM website www.1053kissfm.com or even Shane's home address;

Hello everyone,

As maybe some of you have heard on the radio, Shane is a little cancer patient at CHEO, and has been in hospital for almost a full year. It came to the media's attention that Shane's biggest wish is to beat the world record of being the patient that receives the most wish cards, let it be Get well, birthday, next Christmas, next valentines, next whatever....KISS FM as well as Channel A are all spreading the word to help out this child's wish. For more information please visit www.1053kissfm.com

I am sending this challenge to all that receive this e-mail to encourage their work place, organizations, Associations, teams etc. to invite the Eastern Community to get involved and gather as many wish cards as possible. There will be a drop off station at the Rockland Arena for all that wish to send Shane a card (bought or hand made).

If you wish to send directly to SHANE: please send to

Shane
C/O KISS FM
2001 Thurston Dr.
Ottawa ON, K1G6C9

or at any other drop off location listed on 105 Kiss FM's web site

To All VP's of Initiation and Novice in District III, I challenge you to get your Init and Novice players to each bring a card to Rockland when you come to our home town to play or send directly to the above address or any other drop off locations listed on Kiss FM's web site (if you can also challenge you other VP's in the Atom and Up levels, that would be great).

To both VP's of Nation and PGL of Rockland, I challenge you to do the same with your own teams.

To all my Novice and Rockland teams, please let this child know how much we care. He doesn't have the same chance to play hockey like our kids do.

thank you all for this cause,

Isabelle Crnjac

VP Initiation Novice Rockland

I just thought I would put this out here...it would be soooo cool for this little boy to get cards from around the globe. I have a 7 year old son and can't even imagine what Shane's family is going through. Prayers are great too!
