After the snow storm..

, , ,

It was a blustery, windy...snowy, rainy day. Yet at about 3 o'clock..the sun came out and it was almost magical. I went to the barn to let the animals out. Horses and goats were extremely happy to get outside in the sun.
Loads of pics...

I don't have much to say...but I took a bunch of pictures yesterday. Peter was off and we hung out with the critters for a bit yesterday morning. We managed to trim the goats feet first....muchly needed however. Not a fun job either.
I also made a huge pot of turkey soup, fresh carrots, rice & barley with it as well...:chef:
Oh yes, of course...I also got 3 cake orders in 2 days! This is great news! :D
Anyhow..enjoy the pics (click on them if you want to see more and they will take you to the albums accordingly)...and have a wonderful day!

My normal, somewhat chaotic life.

, , , ...

Yesterday morning started off pretty normal. Tuesday mornings I have to drop my daughter at her bus stop in town. My hubby has a meeting every Tues. Anyhow...I played around on my blog sites for a bit then decided I was gonna get some housework done. I stepped out into the shoe room (lots of windows)...and noticed that Gypsy & Luigi were out in the yard. Crap! I quickly got my boots and coat on and ran outside. I gently coralled the two naughty horses back into the open field. Peter forgot to secure the gate. Double crap! So...I go to look for the goats & llama since they are now missing.:eyes: :insane:  I was nearly nauseated at the thought of them gone. I don't really know why I panicked, they wouldn't go too far...but I just worried about predators and I didn't know how much of a help Felix (llama) was to the goats out in the bush. Anyhow...I called for them over and over, "Babies!!" "Nanee's!!!" (don't ask) Finally I saw Felix..then 7 goats. PHEW!!! I got the goats into the other door in the barn..but Felix was another story. The horses hate him..so, I had to put Gypsy in her stall and I locked Luigi out. I then coaxed the silly Llama in with sweet feed...in the meanwhile, I had to pick up my goose, who somehow got into the main barn with the goats and nearly got stomped on by Gypsy. SO, a goose under the arm, feed bucket in the other hand...door held open with a foot....I managed to coax the llama in, and shut the door!! YAY for ME!!! I caught some pics of these 2 on the deck...their new favorite spot. Not a good spot in our eyes as they coat the deck in goose poop. But aren't they adorable??? Anyhow...I am off to start baking. I have a cake order for Saturday..and so far, 6 orders for Dec. 6th...more coming. (my son is having a cake decorating lesson in his class...and I put my name out there to bake and ice cakes for a small amount of $$ since the parents would more than likely not feel like..or not have the time to do it... I met with his teacher last night, who made up a note for me and my offer...I didn't realize I would have this much response!..But I am very glad. :D ) Have a great day!
You Are 48% Strange!

You are a bit strange, though still more normal than strange. You definitely have some quirks, don't get me wrong. But you aren't exactly freaking out old ladies on the street. It's okay though, you've got a healthy mixture of strangeness and normality.

How Strange Are You?

I couldn't resist this...lol, thanks Issy. :D

My new life as a red-head...

Just kidding!!

Peter loves it...
The hair is actually really brilliant when I step outside...but that'll calm down in a couple of weeks.

Last night, our farrier came over to teach Peter how to trim Gypsy's hooves himself.
He is a friend who lives up the road from us, and if ever we need help he comes to help us.
Anyhow, we have been just toying with the idea of getting another horse. An older one, less excitable as Gypsy loves to go fast! I am not all that keen on yanking the reins that much when I am on her.
Our friend, Mike, has just the horse for us. It is a pony...so he is a tad smaller than Gypsy, but Mike rode him and he was great! I don't know his/her name or anything. We are going to get him on a 2 week trial basis. He is 20 years old...that much I do know. Great to learn on, and great for the kids to ride. Good thing as we are having a few little girls over next week-end for a birthday party! :hat: We are getting the horse tomorrow!

What was cool about Peter learning how to care for Gypsy's hooves, was that Gypsy was soooooo good at just letting him pull & lift her legs in all sorts of directions! :left: Poor horse!!
Mike noted that her leg was 100% better than it was the last time he saw her.
Gypsy is such a sweetie...I really wish she was calmer on the trail.
Peter has mastered galloping on her. I think it is galloping...looks just like what you see when the cowboys are going after the indians on those movies!

On another animal note...I think Samson is staying. He seems to be settling down...is responding better to us. Not barking as much...(we have been on top of that)..he is just the biggest sweet-heart of a dog. Loves to be mauled...played with, walked and just all round loved. The kids can handle him and he is super gentle most of the time. I had no really serious people looking at him, so I rather just keep him for ourselves.
You can see in the pics below that the birds aren't afraid of him, he actually sleeps near them and I know he is going to be a wonderful addition, given time.

Anyhow...I should be off...the kids have a 1/2 day today and will be home at around 1 p.m.
And my 15 y.o. is bringing home 2 friends to sleep over tonight! Yay!!
3 teenaged girls under my roof for the next 24 hours...too funny..
Have a great week-end!
