Nice shot. I really enjoy the clarity you get. Do you use a fill flash?
It's amazing that a bird that weights in at about 20 grams has such a wide range. The whole of the lower half of North America. Yours are exactly the same as ours on the west coast!

The light is sunset light with no fill flash.

The last two years the numbers of House Finches have really dropped in my area. They use to be as numerous as the House Sparrows. I can only speculate that it may have something to due with House Finch Eye Disease (Mycoplasmal Conjunctivitis).
