A Monocrome Panoramic view.

Hi All,
yet again a Duploworld update.
This update is partly reasoned in the, for my tiny blog, fair amount of rumble caused by the snow rabbit picture in "this post".
When posting it, it did not strike me that it would have that effect.
In retrospect I should not be surprised, a dead snow rabbit hanging from a rooftop next to a bedroom window a some random house should be expected to cause some reactions.
I hope I have not offended anyone by posting it. If I unintentionally have done so, then I do apologise, the last thing I want is to offend the readers of this blog or scare people away, I walue you all to much.
I have an upcomming post from the local food maket, called "brættet" (the plank), the pictures from here will stricke some of you as rather brutal as well. I am a bit worried about posting them in the light of this rumble though.
Well enough about rabbits.
Richard led me to a piece of software, that in its mac version is called Calico, it has finally made stiching easy. It brings me the opportunity to show you the fist panoramic view of my sourroundings. this is a place I pass on my way to work. and this is almost a 180 degree view of from it. Let me know what you think.
(Click the picture for a larger view)
Anyway, do take care you all and my sincere apology if I against my intention has offended or shocked anyone.
Thomas

Don't worry to much about the rabbit picture. Seems to me like a natural part of living on Greenland

Thank you and Thank you:)
Well I guess they have the right to a decent view too;)

At the end of the day its your blog - post what you want.
Great panorama.

Thanks for clarifying... I am glad to hear that:)
It is surely not an every day sight in most parts of the world. It took me a while getting used to.
The first time I saw this were, when walking to the gym and when looking up I were looking into the eyes of a freshly shot seal, hanging from a balcony on the first floor, not exactly the sight one expects to see when walking through town at 0530 in the morning.
It may very well be me misinterpreting the the tone and wording. I hope so.

your blog is yours. And you show us the life in Greenland. The life all over the world has light and shadow, the same in Greenland. It would be unnatural (and dishonest), if you show us just the light-side. I don't can find a reason, to worry with you.
Some nice monochrome photos in your album. Very beautiful!

I agree with the previous entries stating that noone was offended. I wasn´t for sure. My remark about you´d rarely see a scene like that in Aarhus was made in a sort of admiration.
Enough about that - the main thing is your panorama. I like it - as a matter of facts I have never made a pano from stitching photos together. I´ll have to have a go now - that´s for sure
I like the mono-photo a lot. The crosses on the cemetary make an interesting graphic effect. The monochrome stands out nicely - did you adjust RGB channels in the process?
I think, though, that had it been me, I would have cropped it a littele closer so the cemetary would fill out the entire foreground. But that´s just me

Thanks for the compliments on the monocromes.
THank you for your kind comments. I am relieved to hear that it were mostly me misinterpreting. I try to relay my picture of Greenland in this blog, you are soo right that leaving things out would be dishonest.

Thanks for that, I a not sure why I all the sudden got the idea that it were creating a fuzz... Misintepretation on my part seems luckily enough to be the reason:)
Thanks for the kind compliment on my monocrome panorama. The one leading me onto this idea is Richard this is my first too. I have a few more panorama shots lined up though (just waiting for my tripod, I think).
The monocrome is actually a double conversion, first using a RGB chanel mixer, then in this particular case I have used a modified Siver-gelatin tone map to sample colourize it. GIMP guru and Photoshop for photographers has excellent tutorials on sample toning.
I have actually got a tighter cropped panorama, I shot two series, but decided that I wanted to drag a little snow fro mthe foreground into the picture.
Thanks again for you kind comment and very nice compliments:)
