Weekend, Snow and what might be a wonderful surprise

, , ,

HI All,

Time for yet another Duploworld update:)

Weekend has arrived and this week has been a real killer at work, why it is most welcome:)
It will be a quiet weekend, as I am travelling next week, that major round the Atlantic trip I have talked about.

The tittle says snow and no I am not kidding, I just looked out the window and into the night... a fine white carpet of beautiful white snow covers everything:yes: I have been longing for this for some time:)

Depending on the amount of snow this picture might be the very last Nuuk Autumn Picture from me this season:cry:
Well rest asure that a NWP album will follow it...
It is an eveing (afternoon actually, daylight is not what we have most of up here right now) photo towards the Industrial harbour.
(Click the picture for a larger view)

I got another very pleasant surprise today too, My new lenses and my tripod:yes: may very well be delivered tomorrow and not monday as planned, giving me all weekend to play around with it:)smile

Ohh and I have had another bonus too, my stay in New york Coincides with the New York Photo Plus Expo and I will be able to go there:)smile

Well That is it for now... time for some sleep:)

Take care and have a wonderful weekend:)

Thomas

I love snow as I love autumm... to me it could be hard to live in a place with 4 seasons... I'd be sad each time a season goes away!!!
bigsmile

In Amazon we just have 2 seasons, the summer, where we have sunny days everyday, and the hot weather almost kill you! And the winter, where we have rainy days most of time and I mean not just rain, but I mean storm, you know?

Even being like that I like to live here... it's different. I suppose that living in the extremes areas of the world can be quite the same... I mean, Amazon, Greenland, Australia, Afrika, etc... lots of characteristics and a proper way of life!

That's super! Interesting!

Thanks for sharing your way of live in Greenland! That makes me want to visit this incredible and iced place! wink

hugs Thomas

Hi Bea,

Well I indeed share you point of view:)
I do however love winter the most, no question about that. the wonderful white glow and dampened feel that snow has on things.
Even the sounds we are used to becomes different.

We actually have a light snowfall while I am writing this.

The amazon sounds like a very different place and it is a place that I would love to visit some day. as is africa and australia.

I think most places in the world has their own characteristics and it for sure is a very different way of life andyet not.

I know about storms, Greenland is the first place where I have encountered what is know as hoizontal rain.

You wouldbe most welcome here, of that I am certain:)

Take care and hugs to you too:)

Do you have more darkness in Greenland now? How much light do you have?

Let me get this straight, Greenland has ice. Iceland has more green. Right???

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Saturday, October 28, 2006 5:55:20 PM

hi momable, well light disappears around 1800 hrs at the moment adn reappears for real around 1000 hrs.
We have barely hit November yet. at its worst we have 6 hours of daylight on a good day, but then again, the snow does a beautiful job when it is dark...

Greenland is mainly Rock and Ice. of the 2.2 mio square kilometers of land 1.8 is covered by the Northern Ice Cap and a huge part of the year the rest is covered in snow, Iceland has a few glaciers, but a lot more green.

Take care:)

As much as I do not envy you the very long winter, I actually envy you the snow in november. I will be looking forward to a rainy month - and probably won´t see much snow this year.

In the absence of light and dry air, it´s surely nice to watcj your Greenland photo. Candy for my soul.

It is starting to become cold here as well. Had to turn on the oven earlier today, witch does not happened often so far this year. I would not mind some snow though smile

Hi Thomas,
