I have made a decision...

Hi All,
Antoher Duploworld update for you all to read:)
As you know already and seen from the teaser there have been a lot of winter lately. and cold weather a blizzard has been raging more or less since friday and it is still here. winds peaking out just short of 200 km/h:eyes:
Well I have expereinced being thrown off my feet a few times but only one really scary experience. I was on my wait to the supermarket yesterday just as I reached teh top of a ridge wind grabbed me an litteraly threw me 60 meters back, slamming into our shed wall the first 15-20 meters I had no contact with the ground at all:yikes: that was actually rather scary... but I did not get anything but a little shocked, so it is kind of OK...
Temperature is pretty low too, here is a picture of our thermometer taken early afternoon saturday, did I hear anyone say spring?
anyway sunday afternoon we had a few hours of only light snow and not too heavy wind, we grabbed the chance and did a long walk.
To honour "this hungry Canadian" I talked Miss Duplo into doing this:
To settle the winner in the snowangel competion, we took up a nice little snowball fight... well guess who won it:D
Spirng is soo much fun up here:D:D:D
The decision I have taken is that I will end off my "Greenlandic Winter Pictures" gallery on friday, I am the last one running after my "snow mate" has stopped his album today. and as I am going to Copenhagen it will be a nice clean break. I will however not promise that my first spring pictures will be all snow free:D:D
You have already seen pictures from this saturday in "This post", we had a few hours with somewhat decent weather and I did some, in my opinion, rather interesting "portraits" too. Those will be shared tomorrow and on thursday I will post my remaining winter pictures. so there will be lots of news from Duploworld over the next few days:)
But I think I will end todays post with this picture from the sunday walk (it is a lake actually):
More news tomorrow, take care you all:)
Thomas

That is something about the wind picking you up like that!
I don't know if I could be happy in a place that has so little sunshine...
Snow is okay and cold is okay if I could dress appropriately to maintain warmth.
Hmmmm.
Are most of the houses on your island so beautifully painted?
The snow angels are cute!

Well yeah it surpriced me a bit too...
Well we do have sunhine sometimes.... and actually during summer we have no nights at all:D
Dressing right as you can see from the pictures is a must up here and doing that makes the climate a lot easier to live with... I have to admit that I love the arctic climate:)
Yep the colourful houses is kind of a Greenlandic trademark. There is a story to these colours, but I have not been able to confirm it yet...
Thanks for liking our snow angels:) and commenting and stopping by:)

They, very aptly, still do
Nice photos, as usual - in spite of the cold weather and heavy winds.
Take care, mate!

Well I did quite a lot of pictures of all the coloured buildings during Autumn, but I am a little impressed that you rember these...
And yeah they do look like scatteredDuplo bricks:D
The cold weather and heavy winds is nothing but a matter of being dressed properly:D
You take care as well...

Anyway, with snow they look a bit more like toys.
Another wonderful photo series, Thomas. Especially you two snow angels!!!

I am glad you like them and the snowangels was a lot of fun doing and picturing...
They do actually look a bit more like toys when there is snow:)

I am glad so many of you do:)
hungryghost # Monday, March 26, 2007 5:57:45 AM
the snow angels are for me? But not the snow right?!
Thank you and I also thank Miss Duplo for being such a good sport to get down and wave her arms in teh snow too...
Snow..oh so scary...
We are into spring here now. Rain has been falling for the last 22 of 26 days. Another 6 days of rain and another record will be broken.
But you'll be happy to hear that there is still snow on the mountains and the ski season although slowing down is still going strong
Take care mr. and ms. Duplo
hungryghost # Monday, March 26, 2007 5:59:43 AM
I'm glad that you suffered no harm when you were picked up off your feet by the wind!
Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo # Tuesday, March 27, 2007 12:03:54 AM
I think I suggested you did one at your deck at some point, just wanted to show you how to do it:D:D
Snow is good you know and yeah she was a really being a good sport Miss Duplo, but then again she likes winter and snow too:D
It was indeed scary, but I were lucky , there were a few larger cars and some other stuff that I nearly hit... most likely would have messed me up pretty badly if I had hit any of those...
Thanks for stopping by:)

Here the warm temperatures have finally started. There is still snow on the ground but many grass patches began to appear.
The last photo is one of your best of your Duplo brick houses
Take care
Louis

Thank you:)
Nope 200km/h winds is definitely not spring.
Just arrived in nuuk today and guess what, heavy snow outside my window...
But well I go take a few pictures tomorrow I think, "the quest for spring"
Glad to hear weather is getting warmer in your part of the world though...
You take care as well:)
