Duplo's blog

- Just another blog on the internet -

A beautiful world....

, , , ,

Hi All,

Duploworld has been silent for almost two weeks and I know that it is anything but common. Anyway, finally a new Duploworld update is here:)

And I have so many news from the last two weeks, that I will break it down into several posts.

First up however is what I think made the biggest impression on me during the last two weeks. I met a truly gifted photographer that showed me a truly bueatiful part of Denmark. A place to which I will return as soon as I can find the time.

Now well who is he?
Well here is a picture of the guy as I guess most of us expect to find him:

Click the picture to reveal his identity)
I actually did take a picture of the guy lying flat on his back aiming his camera in a more than odd direction, but unfortunately it turned out really bad, it suffered from camera shake, bad focus and was largely overexposed (guess that is what happens when yoy forget to turn the camera from manual mode and manual focus to autofocus and Aperture priority:doh: before using it as if these things was turned on) so the above and this one will have to do:

We had an amazing walk through "Mols Bjerge National Park", it was perhaps more talking than taking pictures. Both on aspects of photography and on anything else.

I had a wonderful afternoon and well I can tell you two things for sure.

1. he is a VERY tallented guy with an eye for composition most of us could only dream of having.
2. he makes for a wonderful guide in one of the most beautiful parts of Denmark I have seen.

Thank you Allan, for your kind hospitality and a wonderful afternoon.

Now what better way to honour our afternoon than by sharing a few of the photos that I did manage to take while catching my breath from all the talking:)

Dead tree view:

lonely bush:

a walking path view:

These and a few more are the beginning of a "Danish Summer Photos" album that I will be completing over the next week or so.

Now what else to expect in the near future?
Well I have a round of night shots from Tivoli, street shots from Copenhagen and perhaps the most obvious post ever comming up, so do check back soon:)

Thanks for looking and do take care:)

That's very cool Thomas. I always think it's great when fellow bloggers meet up and especially when they have a common interest. I look forward to more stories and pictures.

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Sunday, July 22, 2007 1:29:59 PM

"an eye for composition most of us could only dream of having"

Well, Thomas. I think you´re talking a walk on the wild side here wink

Thanks anyway - and you know you´re welcome anytime.

And the most obvious post ever coming up. Hmm - not necessarily obvious to me - looking forward to see what that´s all about smile

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Sunday, July 22, 2007 2:48:13 PM

Thank you Allan, I will let you know the next time I get the chance...

scott cummingIArtMan Sunday, July 22, 2007 3:06:36 PM

it was cool to read about your visit and walk in the park with our friend and kindred soul allan. wish i could do the same someday. i will... someday.
i like the dead tree and the lonely bush and the dusty trail trailing off into the distance. good walking terrain.

Safss_ali Sunday, July 22, 2007 4:51:16 PM

Wow. Did u guys meet up via the Opera blog or just by chance in Denmark? Ricewood, thanks again for passing the blogmusik.net site to Nola and the rest of us.

Allanricewood Sunday, July 22, 2007 6:19:07 PM

I assume it´s okay that I answer on my behalf - even if it´s your blogspace Thomas?

We met through Opera. We have previously talked about that national park - and when Thomas announced on his blog that he would spend some time in Aarhus, my home town, I decided to make him an invitation.

And about the Blogmusik-thingy - you´re welcome. I got it from somewhere else and just use it, so there´s really no reason to thank me for that smile

hungryghost Sunday, July 22, 2007 6:31:56 PM

and here's the version from Mr. Duplo! Looks like a great visit was had by both of you.

bigsmile bigsmile

Uncle MickMickeyjoe-Irl Sunday, July 22, 2007 6:42:16 PM

hungryghost Sunday, July 22, 2007 6:57:59 PM

yooperprof Sunday, July 22, 2007 7:44:31 PM

Very nice Danish hills - or do you call those mountains? wink

Ulie_Juggins Sunday, July 22, 2007 8:38:55 PM

Uncle MickMickeyjoe-Irl Sunday, July 22, 2007 9:26:51 PM

Sansanshan Monday, July 23, 2007 1:23:40 AM

******************
@Ali:
I think Allan answered that question pretty well.
******************
@Allan:
It sure is Allan, I am more than happy to host.
******************
@hungry and mickey J:
We had a splendid time indeed (I dare answering for both of us:D)
And well personally I would have no problem taking pictures of a hungry ghost eating something:D:D
Ireland seems like a good spot or why not make the gathering in Greenland, afterall it is half way:D:D
******************
@Yooper:
I think hills are the correct term Yooper:D
Even though compared to how flat a country denmark is they might qualify for mountains:D
******************
@Ulie:
Thank you, I am glad you do:happy:
******************
@Sandy:
Thank you:happy:
Meeting others rom OC is great.
Allan was my second meetup, Joined Yooper for dinner in Copenhagen a while back.
And yeah I would definitely do it again:)

Thnk you so much for all your cheerful comments all, I appreciate them a lot:)

hungryghost Monday, July 23, 2007 2:46:13 AM

hmmm, I've never been to Greenland before....

It's a deal. You talk Sanshan into bringing her waffle iron there and I'll eat for the photos bigsmile bigsmile

Mickey - you got anymore pancake mix left? bigsmile bigsmile

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Monday, July 23, 2007 2:48:30 AM

Sandy... what do ya say?

And Hungry...
We even have a restaurant serving Greenlandc sushi:D:D

hungryghost Monday, July 23, 2007 3:51:54 AM

lol greenland sushi - and how does that differ from regular sushi? bigsmile

Allanricewood Monday, July 23, 2007 5:40:08 AM

Thomas, you claim that Denmark is a flat country. Have you ever toured Denmark on a bicycle? I don´t think so. I have - and I can now reveal the truth to the masses:

Denmark is not - repeat, NOT - flat.

lol

ALLY G.ALLY_G Monday, July 23, 2007 6:44:47 AM

with an eye for composition most of us could only dream of having

I never was in doubt for that! smile

Nice post, Thomas. Thanks for that update. Seems you had a wonderful time. happy

@ Allan: whistle Denmark still is flat (you should come here, than you will know it) bigsmile lol

Allanricewood Monday, July 23, 2007 7:28:35 AM

Elke - take a Denmark-tour with me on a bike and you´ll realise that I´m right!

No mountains - but in the most parts of DK it´s nothing but low hills. You won´t know when driving in a car. I realise that there are far higher hills and mountains other places - but lowland still doesn´t equal flatland smile

yooperprof Monday, July 23, 2007 1:24:20 PM

Where in Denmark were these pictures taken? Next time I'm there I'd like to get out into the countryside a little more! smile

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Monday, July 23, 2007 1:47:53 PM

@hungry:
Mainly by the fish used for it;)
************************************
@Allan:
lol I hear you and used to agree... it really depends om what you compare it to, but you are right it is lowland, not flatland:D
************************************
@Elke:
Thank you:happy:
Yep he is pretty talented guy, but as you said, you all know that already:)
It was an amazing afternoon for sure:up:
************************************
@Yooper:
It is called "Mols Bjerge National Park" and an amazing place just outside Aarhus. I think I will let Allan fill in the blanks on the place, he knows a lot more about it than I do.

Allanricewood Monday, July 23, 2007 5:57:31 PM

Yopper - in order to experience that area, you could do one of two things - or both.

This link will show you the area on Google Maps - explore from there.

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=56.213578,10.548077&spn=0.043148,0.115185&t=h&z=13&om=1

Or you can pm me and tell me when you´re near Aarhus - and I will be happy to show you around - if it´s possible at that time.

yooperprof Tuesday, July 24, 2007 2:28:20 AM

Oh I see it now! Cheers! Denmark has so much coastline!

The state that I live in - Michigan - is a bit like Denmark in that regard. Except we're surrounded by the Great Lakes!

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Tuesday, July 24, 2007 2:56:39 AM

From what I have seen (pictures only unfortunately) it is equally bbeautiful too yooper.

yooperprof Tuesday, July 24, 2007 3:18:22 AM

Michigan is nice once you get out of the urban corner of the state. Trust me, Detroit is nothing like Copenhagen!

Safss_ali Tuesday, July 24, 2007 5:22:14 AM

I second wht the Prof, said! Detroit is nothing like Copenhagen...or any other city for tht matter! But Michigan as a whole does hv natural beauty tht most ppl don't know of.

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Tuesday, July 24, 2007 11:49:41 AM

I will keep that in mind for a future US visit Ali.

Louisvolkuro Friday, July 27, 2007 1:57:37 AM

What a cool meeting Duplo and Ricewood! up

I'm sure your afternoon was very interesting. The OC is really a nice community full of great of people, it's wonderful when we can transgress the virtual aspect of it. I'm glad for both of you smile

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Friday, July 27, 2007 3:01:26 AM

Thank you Louis:)

It was a very interesting afternoon indeed.
It was kind of fun to move our virtual Oc into the real world for a change.

scott cummingIArtMan Monday, July 30, 2007 4:00:34 AM

what ss ali said about michigan is true... there is a lot of natural beauty in the state... it's just that the cities are crumbling. but they know that and are working to give detroit a 'face-lift'
somebody has to pay for it and someone has to do the work.
the whole united states is in an infrastructure crisis. the states that face the truth will be the better for it. and the states which cannot control the graft of government will be swamped with disaster after disaster; until they get hip.

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Monday, July 30, 2007 1:11:25 PM

Well artman,

Guess that goes for the entire western world, in various degrees that is.

Never been to detroit I think but hopefully they will succeed "face-lifting" the city.

Eliane a/k/a Ellymomable Tuesday, July 31, 2007 5:51:20 AM

Cool!

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Tuesday, July 31, 2007 1:11:56 PM

Yep cool indeed:)
