Dusk by the sea

, , , , , ,

Hi all,

And welcome to a Duploworld update with the latest news of what is and has been going on in Duploworld smile
Dusk by the sea #1

Is from a windy evening walk around dusk at Vallensbæk beach, it is the beach of the subburb where I grew up.
The walk was a strange drift down memory lane for me.
I guess I ran through a number of memories of distant beach parties, days by the beach or spend learning how to sail on the waters just off the beach.
And even though the mood of the photo may not exactly be light and joyful, it was a both peaceful and pleasant walk. Even as writing this I have a hard time figuring out if the fragments written will make sense to anyone but me. Being outside all by myself, even though not in as desolate a nature as I prefer, always has a way of clearing my mind and letting me regain focus. Strange how calming and powerful an effect nature in it self can have.

Aside from the meetings and other boring work stuff, I spend time visiting family and a couple of friends, so cCopenhagen was all in all a very positive trip smile

this weekend we are off with a group of friends on yet another weekend cruise, target this time is a the Ameralik fiord and a fiord called "buksefjorden" (trousers fiord, if translated directly), so I guess we are up for another weekend adventure involving water, mountains and good company happy

The countdown for my brothers visit tells me that in less than four weeks, we will set out on a rough but exciting Greenlandic adventure for a couple of weeks, covering some of the most beautiful parts of Greenland.

Well I guess all I have left for this post is a second photo from my walk along the beach:
Dusk by the sea #2

Life in general sounds pretty good these days, does it not?

Do take care you all and thank you for stopping by smile

Thomas

Taking off again and...Day 1 - Moonrise

Nice - yes, nature, or desolation, or photographic workflow just may bring us some peace of mind.

I know what you've been doing. Setting up your gear, choosing aperture and shutterspeed matching your desire result, some fiddling with your tripod in order to make it stand straight and motionless, taking a few test shots, bracketing maybe, then choosing the final solution, executing. Testing sharpness on your screen. Maybe a bit unsatisfied? Re-doing the thing.

That sort of workflow makes me forget about everything else, leaing my mind very relaxed afterwards.

My guess is that you have similar experiences?

Thank you Allan, that is very much the experience I am talking about.

The part where you actually just focus on photography, the composition, the light, exposure, closing the view finder cover, locking up the mirror and wait for just the right moment to release the shutter.

But also the part about a walk on a beach that holds a lot of memories from my youth and childhood, combining the two made a quite strong impression on me.

That first photo seems so unreal, like it was did in Photoshop or something like that. Not that isn't beautiful, it is!!! A lot. But the sea is different. I liked!!!

The second photo, I felt I was at Lord of the Rings movie! p That part when Frodo is walking through that marsh... smile

Great!

Good to know you have a peaceful moment. Some memories cannot bring us good feelings, but you had! smile

See ya!

A wonderful dreamy mood, captures the feeling of a trip down memory lane.

Thomas, these are pacific, photos, almost a 'dreamscape'. I know what Alan means and what you feel too. These past few days I have been concentrating on macro photography in my garden and the things Alan mentioned resonate with me. Patience is an essential ingredient and both you and he already know this. On my future travels I will endeavor to capture scenes in a similar panarama to the magic you show here. How wonderful your photos (always) are. Thanks for sharing them.

PS: I almost forgot to mention that Becky gives a very apt description regarding the second photo, when she remarked "The second photo, I felt I was at Lord of the Rings movie! That part when Frodo is walking through that marsh... "

I understand about being surrounded by nature and clearing the mind. The oness that you feel. I love to sit out on the beach at night and strum the strings of my guitar, or simply sitting quietly anywhere gazing up at the stars. It`s a peaceful, spiritual connection that`s hard to explain but well worth the expierence!

Thank you Bea happy
Never thought of photo 2 like that, but an interesting interpretation.
The effect you see is a long exposure of a rough rough sea, an effect i quite like, but you are right it does look different.

Dear Loku, Thank you for your kind words and frequent visits, I greatly apprecite both.
I am glad that what Allan and I feel on photography resonates, it means neither of us can be totally nuts smile No seriously, that feeling is to me an important part of what I do and to hear you having found it as well is something I am glad to hear.

I will be looking forward to your future adventures in both words and photography.

Thank you Jackie, different tool, but the same feeling, makes sense to me.
Sound like a very beautiful moment, a woman, alone by the beach playing her guitar to the tunes of the stars... I can see that picture quite clearly in my mind.

Thak you Mickey J,
Spending time with family and friends is indeed a beautiful thing.
