Another long hike...

Hi All,
And welcome to yet another Duploworld Update and yes, it is about me and a long hike in the Greenlandic nature.
It was another training hike getting ready for some of the longer trips to be taken later in August, 9 hours straight, under blue skies and a sun burning merciless from above.
At the peak of "Store Malene"
the target was the roughly 800 meter tall peak of "Store Malene". It may not sound as much, but you walk it from water level and while only 800 meters tall, it is a darn steep mountain that has gotten a bad rep for killing people every year.
A view to Sermitsiak
the more than 1200 meter tall peak, is one of the longer trips planned for August my brothers visit. This photo is from the vantage point from where the really steep part begins. from here you actually travel more or less vertical until the middle plateau is reached.
travelling up
As said it is a steep ascent to the middle plateau... and you better know where to put your hands and feets the first time, but ohh well that is all part of the fun
Once on the middle plateau you are revarded with a short streach with small melting water lakes, long patches of snow and lush green moss It really is an amazing view.
at the middle plateau
Hover what really takes ones breath away is the stunning vistas and almost infinite distances one is able to see once the peak is reached.
"Hjortetakken" - a panorama
Another spectacular thing about being at the peak of "Store Malene" is that it offers an undisturbed view of the entire town of Nuuk.
Nuuk
Not to mention the sheer joy of footskiing all the way down to the middle plateau

Footskiing
Well that concludes the 9 hours spend outside saturday, all good fun. Lots of good fun actually and given that we spend the night before partying til 4 o'clock in the morning, I can confirm that 9 hours in the mountains is a decent way to kill hangovers
Tomorrow is another full day out on foot, walking the northern shore from Nuuk, something I am indeed looking forward to
Thanks for reading and do take care you all:)

There's nothing wrong with putting your body through a bit of physical torture now and then. And the view certainly seemed worth it

Hiking up here is something unique I think, depending on where you hike you will easily get so far out that there is no such thing as even a trail to hike, yesterday we followed, what is the only trialed route I have seen up here, the first couple of hours.
Sweden that far up north sounds like an amazing place for a hike too.
Thank you Asgeir
They are similar I think, the main difference from norway is the lack of trees and other flora, but the mountains are similar to me as well.
Thank you Elke
It was good fun
Thank you dear Loku
the peak it self is a common place to hike to up here.
It can go from childplay to lethal depending on the route, trick is to choose the path that suits your skillset
Thank you Violeta
And a big welcome to my blog too.
thank chthoniid
Nope nothing wrong with the physical part of it, it is as important as the photos to me. I actually love the physical challenges almost as much as photography.
And honestly, my photos are pale imitations compared to the real thing.
did another peak yesterday
