Part I - All stories has a beginning...

Hi All,
And finally a Duploworld update on what has been an adventure I will not easily forget.
Largely thanks to some of the fantastic people that assisted us and became a huge part of the adventure, no names will be mentioned, but thankful I am.
Now as said, all stories has a beginning and this story actually takes its beginning in Nuuk almost a month ago.
It begins an almost sunny Saturday afternoon, the afternoon my brother arrived in Nuuk.
The programme for a week in Nuuk included a climb to the peak of Sermitsiak, and several other long hikes in the area, tours around nuuk, the local sights, etc.
But weather wanted things differently. Sunday morning things started sliding down the bad weather slide and what a slide... Heavy rain, windy weather and low hanging clouds and fog was the menu for pretty much the entire week, luckily he is a huge sports fan and the 2008 Olympics has without a doubt been a lifesaver for him
Poverty:
One of the things that actually made the largest impressions on him (and on me when I first moved up here) was the very visible social issues up here, I am sure that things are no better or worse than in countless other capitals around the world, but it is very visible up here and it does have a huge impact when doing the first citywalks.
Too early...
A visit to the local ski area was also on the list of things we did make during this week, but as obviously seen it was a "little" too early for any skiing. It did make for a foggy and rather wet trip though and good fun none the less
things has by the way changed over the last couple of weeks, snowline is now somewhere around 200 meters above sea level and temperatures are already below 0C at night and getting awfully close during the day too.
It is a little too early to say, but if last year is any indication, we have an even colder winter awaiting us this year.
Waterfall #1:
Well on the Wednesday the sky was still full of heavy clouds and the air unusually humid, but no rain as such.
We did a short hike to some of the waterfalls around the Paradise Valley, the one above is located in the meltingwater river cutting the valley in two and a beautiful sight.
Waterfall #2:
Now, as we moved up a ravine on the far side of the valley, we came to one of my favourite waterfalls around here. It is rather powerful and I just love the sound of it. The sound of falling water is amplified by the narrow ravine, just love it.
The photo above is a somewhat new take on it. That presented itself, as my brother decided to make a rest on a huge rock just in front of it.
Humpback Whale:
On friday afternoon we joint a Whale safari and as seen above it did not disappoint. Seeing this huge animal alongside the boat was absolutely amazing and a wonderful way to end the first part of the trip, because Saturday we took off heading north towards what really was an experience I will never forget.
Thank you for reading, take care and do stay tuned for part II

The whale fluke is very nice and certainly the best I've seen in a long while. I think the land on the horizon helps in this case since many are just disembodied tails in the middle of nowhere.
Any idea what kind of whale this was? I'll take a stab and say Minke, but really I don't know!

It's really one of the best photos I've saw from you!

Well these are actually located right in the center of Nuuk, while in copenhagen and other cities it is usually not located right in the city center.
I agree about the whale tail. I was aiming at something a little different than the usual tight crop.
It is a Humpback whale.
Thank you Bea
Glad you liked it.
thank you Allan
I was glad to finally get the opportunity to get so close to these large animals, it was quite an experience.
