Happy New Year all....

, , , ...

Hi All

And welcome to the las duploworld update in 2008.
The family Christmas tree

Christmas has been wonderful, it has been amazing to be allowed to spend time with ym family again.
Now Christmas this year has been different than the years before, there were only seven of us, so only the very closest family was gethered.
Chritmas Girl

Above was probably one of the upsides of being back in Copenhagen, I have been spending a lot of time with miss Duplo, definitely not a bad thing. As you can see above I even talked her into letting me grab some photos of her :D
No Seriously it has been amazing to spend some time with her again, so no complaints
Winter by the lake

Now weather in Denmark this Christmas has not been all that great. It has been humid and way too warm.
Hower a single day changed that completely. One day when I woke up it was foggy, temperature a touch below 0C and everything covered in frost. While it may not sound like it, it is actually near perfect photography weather I think. Above photo is just one example.
a Danish winter scene

To me it is all aout contrast and colour, I simply adore the slightly moody, subdued colours one finds in this kind of weather. Another thing I cannot help to like about such weather and the frost in particular is what it does to flowers, leaves and branches. this simly look amazing when covered by fine frozen crystals.
thus making the weather perfect for winter macro work.
frozen leaves

And with that I will shut down my laptop and return to the New Year celebrations around me
Happy New Year to all of you and do take care

Dusk by the sea

, , , ...

Hi all,

And welcome to a Duploworld update with the latest news of what is and has been going on in Duploworld
Dusk by the sea #1

Is from a windy evening walk around dusk at Vallensbæk beach, it is the beach of the subburb where I grew up.
The walk was a strange drift down memory lane for me.
I guess I ran through a number of memories of distant beach parties, days by the beach or spend learning how to sail on the waters just off the beach.
And even though the mood of the photo may not exactly be light and joyful, it was a both peaceful and pleasant walk. Even as writing this I have a hard time figuring out if the fragments written will make sense to anyone but me. Being outside all by myself, even though not in as desolate a nature as I prefer, always has a way of clearing my mind and letting me regain focus. Strange how calming and powerful an effect nature in it self can have.

Aside from the meetings and other boring work stuff, I spend time visiting family and a couple of friends, so cCopenhagen was all in all a very positive trip

this weekend we are off with a group of friends on yet another weekend cruise, target this time is a the Ameralik fiord and a fiord called "buksefjorden" (trousers fiord, if translated directly), so I guess we are up for another weekend adventure involving water, mountains and good company

The countdown for my brothers visit tells me that in less than four weeks, we will set out on a rough but exciting Greenlandic adventure for a couple of weeks, covering some of the most beautiful parts of Greenland.

Well I guess all I have left for this post is a second photo from my walk along the beach:
Dusk by the sea #2

Life in general sounds pretty good these days, does it not?

Do take care you all and thank you for stopping by

Denmark... It can be such a beautiful place...

, , , ...

Hi All,

And welcome to another duploworld update, a long awaited one (at least i hope so:))

Now why Denmark you might ask, "and was he not talking about Lanzarote and some stuff last time he wrote?"

Well yes I was and I will come to that, but as there is quite a few people in some of the photos, then I am awaiting approval to publish some of them, well Miss Duplo has obviously approved, but that aside i prefer if people approve before I publish anything. That is why you have to wait a bit before getting to see the photos.
Luckily I have had both a couple of days before and after the lanzarote trip and a week more in Copenhagen, from which I have just returned.
Gammel Højerup Kirke

Above is from a brief early evening stop near Stevns Klint. A limestone cliff beach that is slowly eaten by the sea, The same goes for the old church now actually hanging over the edge of the cliff, quite a beautiful sight. Being there in the early evening sun, definitely made things better too:)

Now what else has happened in Copenhagen? well this Saturday my younger sister returned from a 3 month stay in Australia. I surprised her in the airport Saturday evening when she arrived and seeing her again and hearing how much she has experienced down there was simply amazing. I spend more or less the entire sunday with her. It was simply a blast spending time with her again and hear about all the stuff she has seen and done over the last 3 month. Ohh and this grabshot during lunch at a café turned out quite well too I think.
My Sister

Sunday was also the day where my brother did a 21.1km run, it was an official prep run for the Copenhagen marathon and for him the target of a running challenge. He finished in 1 hour and 48 minutes, it is fair to say that I am rather proud of him.
Now April really means that spring is slowly picking up speed in Copenhagen. I spend an hour one afternoon just watching the beach and enjoyed the early signs of spring.
first sign of spring?

Another place that can be truly beautiful around spring is a place just North of Copenhagen called "Dyrehaven". Translated directly it means "Animal Garden", it is a large forest area with deers and a multitude of other animals. I went there with my father one late afternoon, just to have a pleasant walk and to squeeze off a few shots.
I used to live just 10 minutes away when I lived in Copenhagen and it was wonderful being back in a forest again, as you know we barely have any vegetation up here and sometimes I actually miss having trees around, they make for some very interesting light I think.
Towards the Eremitage Castle

Now I think this makes for a decent update... I still have a lot of things to tell about Lanzarote and what we did down there. Hopefully this weekend will give me the time to update you all on it.
I also have a number of changes planned for my posting patterns on this blog, It seems that after a good while of less frequent updates, I have an urge to turn it into a more regular thing. I think this blogspace will turn interesting over the next couple of months.
Lastely a photo to round up this Duploworld update. It is nothing special and has a couple of flaws from a technical point of view. It is however a fine statement of how a couple of Speedlights can make a livingroom in broad daylight turn into something completely different.
Cactus flower

Now there is a number of additional photos in the "Denmark 2008" gallery and I think they are worh a look:)
My Gallerypage has received an update too, any comments on both the photo selection an gallery selection would be highly appreciated.

Now til next time... Do take care you all:)

On Copenhagen, Spring and the weekend

, , , ...

Hi All,

Finally a fresh duploworld update:)

Ohh I got so many news to share... almost too many... but I hope that some of you will actually make it to the bottom of this post:)
But well first things first... I spend a little less than a week in Copenhagen.
Copenhagen: Brick Wall

Copenhagen was, the usual irrellevant work stuff set aside, a true pleasure. Windy and grey yes, but compared to Nuuk it was darn close to being summerly:D
I had a great weekend down there, spend most of the time in the inner city on foot, have not done that in a while and it proved quite interesting. I rediscovered a lot of well known places, but the "Denmark 2008" gallery really is a lot more saying than I can ever be.
Copenhagen: The Huckster Pub

Set aside a stroll down "Vesterbro", the old "Red Light district" of Copenhagen, I think the by far most interesting place was the Legal Graffiti area located around the southern harbour.
Even though it is a legal graffiti area, it still has a sense of worn out, dirty and slightly "Dangerous" feel to it. A very interesting place photographically speaking.
The guys working their art here is truly talented and what I particularly enjoy is to see how beautiful this often looked down on artform can be when exercised in a legal environment.
One of the most interesting things I have done in a good while.
Copenhagen: Doorway

Being back in Greenland and seeing the calendar claiming it to be spring is simply something that does not fit reality very well. but as my seasonal albums follows the calendar I have opened up my "Greenland Spring Photos 2008" album.
THis weekend has been almost exclusively snowboarding for me and today I even brought my tiny red mini olympus with me up there, keep promising myself that I should bring my big camera, but I actually end up getting too carried away boarding when I am out there... it is one of the few things in life that I am actually equally passionate about, compared to photography.
A moderate -12C and occational snowbursts proved perfect conditions for boarding fast. the fact that we have had so much snow this year that we have been awarded with a new steeper slope only adds to the fun. That slope is meant for speed... ohh and a bit of airtime here and there:D
Simply too much fun:D It is actually necessary to walk a bit from the top lifts to get there, but it is definitely well worth the walk:D
Duplo getting ready

What else to tell... ohh yes... in just 14 days I am going on vacation for two full weeks, I am SOO much looking forward to it... one of the weeks will be spend at "Club La Santa" located on Lanzarote... the other week in Copenhagen.
Now i think that is it for now, I will bounce out and enjoy the witnerly Spring, not to mention Dinner, Miss Duplo just told me it is ready:)

Do take care you all:)

Hi All,

Just a brief Duploworld update to let you all know I am back from Copenhagen.

Simply an amazing trip, lot of work, but also a chance to work on some photography things, loads of Monochromatic work in fact

and well again this might be photo heavy for those on a slow connection, so my apologies to you guys.

But here is what I saw.

A very senseful tag:

A ship inversed:

A lonely train vagon:

A concrete wall:

Modern Art?

And finally on the way home I witnessed the beauty of...
An airport dressed in winter:

Above photo also marks the start of the "Greenlandic Winter Photos 2007" album

Not to mention that my "holga 120" project has received a major update too

Thanks for looking all... I will start reading up now... I have a veeery long list to pick up.

Do take care:)

Travelling again....

, , , ...

Hi All,

Just a brief Duploworld update to tell you all that I will be heading off again.
To Denmark (again), more meetings to be held.

Now I cannot leave without posting another "Greenlandic Autumn Photo":

Not entirely up to the standard of the first, but a decent photo I think.
There is another one from the same walk in the album as well.

Thanks for looking and do take care:)

Last summer photos

, , , ...

Hi All,

Well, this Duploworld update is dedicated to showing you a few photos from this summer, that has not yet been posted.

Summer has indeed been a mixed bag of experiences and as you know I have spend more time travelling than being back here in Greenland. A consequence of that is that the majority of my summer photos has been from elsewhere.

Those remaining ones are mainly from Denmark, captured during my stay in various parts of Denmark.

The photo below is a fine representation of what I have been work a lot with over the summer... monocrome photography.
Durimg summer I have crossed this bridge no less than 8 times and only when crossing it for the very last time, I got the photo I wanted.

A bridge view:

Well there is 5 or so more in the "Danish Summer Photos" album.

Now I do have one last Greenlandic photo to show, it is from Kangerlussuaq Airport and of a subject you have seen before, but anyway... here goes:

Well that is all for now. autumn is comming up and this time hopefully with a bit more time in Greenland:)

Thanks for reading and do take care:)

I have left...

, , , ...

Not opera but Greenland for a couple of weeks again, I am back in denmark and on tour.
will also make a rief stop in London.

This Duplo world update has been quite a while underway and why you might ask.
Truth is that I have been busy, real busy.

We have had guests from Denmark, my uncle and family. which has been great and I do mean great.
It has been a pleasure showing them around up here and just having fmaily around, something we have not been used to after moving up here.

Took them on a short 3 hours hike on wednesday night and aside from some stupid low hanging clouds and millions of mosquitoes well then it was an excellent trip.

the Pentax Photo Gallery I have been talking about has finally opened for the public.
Well I have quite a few photos there, even a few you may not have seen before.

I actually have a single picture that was approved not only to the gallery, but it was also singled out to be displayed in the "Primiere Collection"

Can you guess which one, If I tell you it has been displayed on this blog.

anyway drop by the Gallery and do not forget to visit me there too, My personal Gallery is HERE.

Not much to say really... I have been working a lot with the camera too... and it has turned out a few unusual shots, that I will share during the weekend.

But to round off this post is two more "usual" captures from my hand.

A storm rising:

summer sunset:

I promise to write a lot more on it all and show you some more stuff later on, but right now I got some more work to get rid off. I will be back soon, both reading up and sharing all the news I have not shared yet:)

anyway, do take care all... and thank you for being so patient with me.

A magic night in Copenhagen

, , , ...

Hi All,

it is time for the second Duploworld update on my Copenhagen visit.
Subject matter is on somthing magic that goes on every night/evening in Copenhagen and makes for a truly wonderful scene.

Those of you having visited Copenhagen might already have guessed what I am talking about, it is Tivoli by night.
Tivoli is perhaps the oldest amusement park in the world.
The Tivoli park has been located in the very center of Copenhagen since 1843, not only does it actually have a few interesting rollercoasters and stuff, it has something much more important. History. Afterall, it has been a part of the city for roughly 164 years.

During night it turns into magic and makes for perhaps the most beautiful place in Copenhagen by night.

Well enough said, the following pictures kind of says it all:

The China house:

Pirates in Tivoli:

Ready for a spin?

Fountains by night:

A few more can be found as an update to the "Danish Summer Photos" album.

Thank you for looking and do take care:)
