Another set of new views.

Hi All,

Yep another Duploworld update rolling in:)
And there is no new lenses in this one;) but pictures in stead and a single question.

Now well for the pictures. All taken this Saturday, during my five hours walk to another frozen paradise, a melting water river located at the outskirts of Nuuk. It was a pretty dangerous walk as everything including the places I wre to walk wascovered in a thick carpet of sheer ice. But enoguh blabbering here they are:

Nuussuaq by night:

Now for the main question of this post it is a simple...
Why?

I live in place where nature is as stricking as anything I have ever come acroos, Why it so hard to respect it? care for it? do we have to destroy it?

Well no more ranting from me, do take care you all:)

fun - confusion - fun

, , , ...

Hi All,

Well Duploworld calling again:) Updates are getting back to a more regular pattern again and I will hopefully soon be back to the usual twice a week:)

Well it has been the usual busy week, but weather has caused a lot of chaos and confusion, even messed up my planning.

I were scheduled to travel to Qaqortoq this Wednesday. Weather messed up that trip and in the end I ended up cancelling it all together:( Upside were that it left me a lot of time to actually take care of things I otherwise would have had a hard time getting done:)
Kind of sad though as it would have been my first trip to somewhere in Greenland, but hey I will most likely get other chances:)

Yesterday were picture taking day again... the landscape up here is still heavily affected by the last few rounds of Fohn winds. But it were great being alone in nature, just the camera and I.
Well did I get something to show for it? sure I did... there are new pictures in the "Greenlandic Winter Pictures" album and a single example is right below:

Saturday Night we went to a birthday at some friends house, good fun and lasted until 7 this morning... now that was fun:D

The upcomming week is all about meetings, meetings and meetings... and then the week after I am off for Copenhagen and guess what... more meetings...:faint:
Upside is that Miss Duplo:love: will be joining me this time:)

Anyway ending this update is another picture, taken on the way home from work this Thursday.

Take care you all and have a nice week:)

Finally back in Nuuk

, , , ...

Hi All,

Well Duploworld has again been silent for quite some time, but fear not.
I have neither forgotten you all nor discontinued updating this blog.

It is currently Thursday night and see antoher update is here.

It were indeed a long trip home after my visit to SLC in the US.
I flew via Chicago, Munic and copenhagen, night stopped and what a surprise Copenhagen had been hit by the massive storm sweeping across Europe and not without consequences, just look at this picture from what is one of my favourite beaches around Copenhagen in the summer:

Flew on to Kangerlussuaq in Greenland this monday.
Here the first hickup took place, a storm raging the entire Greenlandic coast, forced us to stay over night and the entire day after in Kangerlussuaq.
The Time were not entirely wasted though.
Take this incredible sunrise over the Apron and surrounding mountains:

Returned to Nuuk late tuesday night and decided on the spot to take Wednesday off, to spend time with miss Duplo, I have missed here more than ever on this trip and being back together were like a dream coming true:love:
We went against the weather (a blizzard raged) and walked to the centre of Nuuk, on the way i caught this picture of the Atlantic harbour during the blizzard (thanks god for weather sealed cameras) just to show you all what it looked like:

The weekend will be spend with miss Duplo and a few friends, which I really look forward to and of course reading up on what has happend here in OC.

Take good care you all:)

A more texty update

, , ,

Hi All,

Well Duploworld has been all stressed up, stressed up picture posts with very little text. but hey, that is how my life has been lately too... having said that, please allow me to apologize (yeah again)... finally well past 3 o'clock in the morning I feel calm enough to give you are more thorough update on my life.

Not that this post is entirely without pictures, I mean when have you seen that the last time?:D
I have finally had the time to finalize first part of the offical "Cæsar" Album, he is adorable I think, not entirely sure Miss Duplo agrees in this particular instance though:D

I am not exactly sure why I am so calm. I have no reason to, but Miss Duplo gave me a comment yesterday evening, it were not intented (yes i asked her about that:D) But it made me realise a few things, not right away, but as I am writing this i have realised how much above metaphor(Spelled correctly?) has been true. I have litterally been so busy that my life were blasting by me as only pictures with very little text...

But enough about that, new years eve were great, really great, we were 10 friend in a nice house, having a wonderful dinner (and a few drinks:cheers::drunk::hat:) champagne at midnight, you know the usual, but it was nice and cozy. Thanks to you guys (and Girlies) for that:)

The future is travel mostly, On Thursday I leave for Copenhagen and on Saturday for Salt Lake City, my return to Greenland is not shceduled until January 22nd. Yeah it is another business trip and yeah I will have to work a lot and worst of all I cannot bring Miss Duplo. But it will be a fun trip and I am looking very much forward to that.
It does not hurt Either that I will have the opportunity to flash my board at a few really nice slopes while I am there... does not hurt at all:D

The slopes in Nuuk reopened for the season today, I have not had the time to go there yet and will not have until I get back, but it flags in a very promising time, another positive vibe... is there a sign here... wait I think I am on my way back to Normal... Like in real "normal", if that description will ever fit me:D

And as you knwo not a post without photography... so here goes...
My Gallery Page has received a long awaited update and is actually more updated on my most recent pictures than the blog, but it will even out and there is no guaranties that there will not always be adifference. lots of portraits has been added. It is a project I like a lot:)

The Greenlandic Winter Pictures album has also received an update. I experienced an unusual bright moon during daytime and a wonderful cloudy moon, both seen just below

Best part I have on the far side of 200 pictures from Christmas and New Year not yet finalised:D

Well that is about it for now... I am in a unusual state of mind and I am looking forward to the next couple of weeks.
Will read up on those missing post tomorrow, another thing to look forward to:D

Take care you all:)

Finally an update

, , , ...

HI All,

Well finally another Duploworld update, I have simply been too busy to make those frequent updates, I am still inside the "promised" biweekly update limit though:D

Well returning from Prague has been a busy thing, but as i told a friend asking how I did;
"I am alive..." and that is about as good as it gets right now.
I practically stepped into my new position on tuesday morning and well not much to say about it. It is a new job and a whole new set of challenges that I indeed am looking forward to.

Well as mentioned a few times in comments, We have had more snow and all day today and even now late in the evening snow are falling, those huge and wonderful Christmas snowflakes... soo lovely...

I even brought my camera to get a few shots of it, but when taking the first shot the camera gave me an odd red symbol during the preview telling me that the memorycard were resting in the cardreader at home:doh: and I did not bring a spare one either:cry:

Well to make up for it I have this panorama. Taken Saturday at 1400 hrs, my fiancée looked at it a moment ago and said;
"It is the best I have seen of Sermitsiak from your hand yet" I am not sure I agree, but what I can tell is that it shows off the size of sermitsiak better than any picture I have taken before.

I hope you like it.

(Click the picture and click it again to see it in the right perspective)

What else? well I have been struggling setting up my new "Homepage", a site dedicated to my pictures. Not sure they have the standard for it, but I thought it were about time to take a more organised approach to displaying my pictures. It is picturewise not fully updated yet, but enough to announce its existence to you all.

This comming week will be VERY busy, but I will do my best to bring you an update again around wednesday or so.

Saturday is the day for our annual Christmas party at work. It is going to be loads of fun I think:cheers::drunk::hat::faint:
I will most likely invite my employees over for a round of drinks before the party, but we have to see about that.

Anyhow I think this is about it for now...

Do take care you all:) ohh.... and Merry Christmas:)

Thomas

Some spectacular views.

Hi All,

Had a four hour stopover in Narsarsuaq in the southern part of Greenland and wow... I have never seen it like this before.

take care Thomas
I have added 6 new pictures in the "Greenlandic Winter Pictures" album. whitch is simply the old Nuuk Winter Pictures album.
I hope you will take a look:)
Well off for bed a flight for prague awaits me tomorrow, Just wanted to show you how beautiful winter can be:
I sat at one of these benches waiting for my next flight... all airport waiting rooms should have a view like this:D

Take care:)

So many things has happened

, , ,

Hi All,

Well Duploworld is busy, but also full of changes.

What has happened lately well you have seen some of the pictures I have taken and thank you for the kind comments to them, I do appreciate those greatly.
Taking pictures are as mentioned many times a great way to stress down when things moves a little too fast and things does really move fast these days.

I showed you a sunset in the last post, well here are a full panorama I took that afternoon.

(Click it to get a decent view of it)

Well workwise I were in for a little surprise, in just a few hours I will leave the Greenlandic winter for a few days, destination is Prague and target is a konference. I will be in Prague from Thursday through Sunday so it is going to be a nice change I think.
You better expect a few pictures from there in the near future.

But the biggest surprise however fell yesterday at our CEO's office, I were called down there to a chat.
Well I have all the sudden been promoted, And as of friday I wil be the new Commercial Administration Manager:D
Well I hope they al know what they signed up for:D

That and the trip to prague kind of makes a little up for the stressful work I guess:D

Well no more work, we have had a little more snow, I took this picture at my balcony this sunday, DOF got a little to shallow, but it does show that a little snow has been falling lately.

Well as Christmas is closing in I will have another view for you soon, a very special phenomena, that I have seen nowhere else in the world, but it wil not be before I get home so another good thing to look out for at this blog:D
Christmas by the way will be in Denmark and for the first time we are going to celebrate it with both my own and Miss Duplo's family together, such a nice thing.

Christmas also means that we are close to the darkest period in the year. Up here it means almost no daylight and I mean almost no daylight, last night when I walked home at 1615, I saw the moon high on the sky... kind of bizarre eh:confused:
But it makes for some rather spectacular sceneries, two more right below:

Well I think that is it for now, almost time to kiss Miss Duplo farewell for a few days.

Take care you all.

Thomas

Argh... soo busy....

, , ,

HI All,

Duploworld is a mess these days... It has been more busy than ever last week and wow has there been a lot of changes around.
I will be back either monday or tuesday evening with the full story, some additional travelling plans and reading up on what all you people has been up to lately.

Bear over with me and enjoy these 3 winter pictures taken on yesterday afternoon and this afternoon evening til then.

First picture were taken this afternoon in the breakup between snowfalls, I have never seen al ight light this before... sureal is the word that springs to mind.

An evening view to "Ringorput" the newest and most remote part of Nuuk, taken around 1630 tonight.

Last but not least a sunset from last night.

Again thanks for bearing over with me and take good care.

A balcony view (yep more Aurora borealis)

, , , ...

HI All,

A brief one from Duplo world.
I had the most amazing view from my balcony when I got home from the gym this evening.
Why not capture it and share it with you all:

A short while later it grew even stronger over the ridge:

I really love the winter for these amazing views alone:)

Take care you all:)

Thomas

Oh guess this will be a lengthy one...

, , , ...

HI All,

well following two relatively short Duploworld updates and my first and fairly decent Aurora borealis photos, it is time for an update on what has happened in Duploworld lately.

A thing I have not mentioned about my recent visit to Copenhagen and my mother and sisters home were that I were greeted welcome by a new member to our family (no neither my sis nor mother has been pregnant lately:D). It were a cute puppy named "Caesar"
a naughty but absolutely adorable member of our family, but hey puppies should be like that when only 8.5 weeks old.
But do not just take my word for it, take a look below:

Well getting home has been a mixed experience, a bit more snow has fallen though nothing serious yet. However temperatures has dropped to between 5 and 15 degrees below 0. and stayed there.. winter has surely arrived, now we are just lacking some more snow to go with it:)
It has also proven to me that photography in winter is nothing like the rest of the year... one has to be dressed surprisingly warm as you do spend a lot of time sitting or standing still. but it can be an amazing experience.
Take the example below, it is one of four new pictures in the "Nuuk Winter Pictures" album

Well what else has happened the last week or so? Well last week were dominated by visits from the US and Australia at work, pleasant people and we made some really decent work on the project. Friday I joined the Finance department for a dinner at the local micro brewery, a great evening:cheers::hat::drunk: that ended at 0530 in the morning..whew, a really fun party:D
Saturday were spend with miss Duplo at home, really needed a quiet evening.
Sunday i packed my toys and headed out to shoot some pictures and guess what. I stumbled even larger iceflakes tossed all over the shore. One in the water quite near had litterally the size of a large house... an amazing scenery and a nice addition to the "Virgin Ice" album, just take a look at the example below:

This monday has been used catching up on a huge number of emails and loose ends at work and a surprice I will save for a later post. A total powerfailure covering all of Nuuk, that lasted for a few hours has also been part of the day.

I have also finalised the planning for my next trip, seems I have to take a swift trip to Prague for a three daysaround December 1st and the usual stopovers in Copenhagen when going back and forth:)

Well that is about it, do not forget to look in the "Virgin Ice" and "Nuuk Winter Pictures" albums there are 5 and 4 new photographs respectively.

Take care you all.

Thomas
