My Opera is closing 3rd of March

Duplo's blog

- Just another blog on the internet -

Oh guess this will be a lengthy one...

, , , ,

HI All,

well following two relatively short Duploworld updates and my first and fairly decent Aurora borealis photos, it is time for an update on what has happened in Duploworld lately.

A thing I have not mentioned about my recent visit to Copenhagen and my mother and sisters home were that I were greeted welcome by a new member to our family (no neither my sis nor mother has been pregnant lately:D). It were a cute puppy named "Caesar"
a naughty but absolutely adorable member of our family, but hey puppies should be like that when only 8.5 weeks old.
But do not just take my word for it, take a look below:

Well getting home has been a mixed experience, a bit more snow has fallen though nothing serious yet. However temperatures has dropped to between 5 and 15 degrees below 0. and stayed there.. winter has surely arrived, now we are just lacking some more snow to go with it:)
It has also proven to me that photography in winter is nothing like the rest of the year... one has to be dressed surprisingly warm as you do spend a lot of time sitting or standing still. but it can be an amazing experience.
Take the example below, it is one of four new pictures in the "Nuuk Winter Pictures" album

Well what else has happened the last week or so? Well last week were dominated by visits from the US and Australia at work, pleasant people and we made some really decent work on the project. Friday I joined the Finance department for a dinner at the local micro brewery, a great evening:cheers:partydrunk that ended at 0530 in the morning..whew, a really fun party:D
Saturday were spend with miss Duplo at home, really needed a quiet evening.
Sunday i packed my toys and headed out to shoot some pictures and guess what. I stumbled even larger iceflakes tossed all over the shore. One in the water quite near had litterally the size of a large house... an amazing scenery and a nice addition to the "Virgin Ice" album, just take a look at the example below:

This monday has been used catching up on a huge number of emails and loose ends at work and a surprice I will save for a later post. A total powerfailure covering all of Nuuk, that lasted for a few hours has also been part of the day.

I have also finalised the planning for my next trip, seems I have to take a swift trip to Prague for a three daysaround December 1st and the usual stopovers in Copenhagen when going back and forth:)

Well that is about it, do not forget to look in the "Virgin Ice" and "Nuuk Winter Pictures" albums there are 5 and 4 new photographs respectively.

Take care you all.

Thomas

Hey Thomas,

Great light in that landscape picture! Hope you're able to keep your fingers warm enough to keep taking photos!

Hi Yooper,

Thank you:)

I am still working on how to handle it. I have a pair of thin specialty gloves, but they are very thin to meale to operate the camera.
Wearing thicker gloves wuld remove the spontanity.

I will figure it out at some point I guess:)

Thanls again.

Thomas

I was watching the big football game the other day, and one of the players, wore surgical gloves underneath his thin gloves, so that he could keep his hands warm and still have the dexterity in order to throw the ball. Worth a try maybe?

Oh yeah, awesome pictures once again. up

Wow, that´s cold already at your place. Down here we´re probably 20 degrees warmer!

But the cold calls for great photos. I kinda envy your possibilities - icebergs and mountains. The colours of the ice on your photo are fabulous - and somehow you´ve been able to show us the crisp, frosty air over the fiord.

Nice work - do keep it up smile

Hi Allan,

Yep temperatures are going down... But then again it is not all bad, the air is amazing when the temperatures are that low:)

Thank you for the very nice compliments.
Yep I do have a lot of options but also limitations, but at times I feel like I am taking the same pictures over and over again.

That I keep taking pictures is a promise...

Thanks again for the compliments and encouragements, I really do appreciate those you know.

Take care.

Hi, Thomas

Amazing photographs! It's getting better and better.
And ... a cute puppy.
Mikey has been pushing me to buy a puppy in the last 3 weeks or so, and what would happen if he sees this pictures. It melted me aleady. What is the breed?

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Wednesday, November 22, 2006 12:35:14 AM

Hi Hirokichi,

Thank you:) I am working on it and yes the number of keepers are increasing.

Caesar is adorable, naughty but adorable:)
I am not entirely sure he is not a race dog, he is a mix, but a recognised mix.
I will ask her though.

Better watch out:) sooner or later you are going to end up with a cute little puppy:D

Thanks again for the compliments and for stopping by.

Hi Bea,

I am usually fairly positive towards, both my life and what I am doing with it.

Ohh... yeah I can be stressed up, angry, frustrated or sad, but for some reason it does not seem to affect me for very long, before returning to my positive perspective again.

I am sure it will be a cute kitty:D Show us some pictures when it arrives:)

Those ice blocks or flakes are amazing:) I really love walking around among those huge blocks of ice:) I hope you will get to see it one day:)

Hugs to you too:)

Louisvolkuro Friday, November 24, 2006 3:47:29 AM

Superb photos again!

It's funny, I saw the surgical gloves trick during the football game and I thought of your winter photographing problem too. I will surely try it myself this winter, it's supposed to be very effective.

Thomas Bojer EltorpDuplo Friday, November 24, 2006 3:56:49 AM

Thanks Louis,
I am glad you like them:)

I am going to try it too, my only problem is finding those surgical glowes...
I know a few nurses up here perhaps they can help me out:)

hungryghost Tuesday, November 28, 2006 5:20:26 PM

Ceasar...so cute, look forward to seeing more pictures of him as he grows up.

As for the winter. You've no doubt been to Sandy's page where she rhapsodizes over winter. It's true we have snow here and it'll be coldish by our standards today. But it'll all be gone soon; this is the way of winter in Vancouver. Snow. Gone. Snow. Gone. Snow Gone.

bigsmile bigsmile

take care now
