Artist: Clint Mansell
Album: Requiem For A Dream (Soundtrack)
Title: Hope Overture
Year: 2000
Biography of Clint MansellClint Mansell (born November 7 1963 in Coventry, England) is a musician and composer. Clint Mansell was the lead vocalist and guitarist of the British band Pop Will Eat Itself. Clint broke into the world of film scoring when his friend, director Darren Aronofsky gave him the opportunity to score his debut film, π.
Despite critical acclaim, Clint's score went widely unnoticed by both fans and critics of more traditional film composers, such as John Williams and James Horner. However, the soundtrack release, placing Mansell's work alongside tracks from Autechre, Aphex Twin, Orbital and Roni Size, did win many fans from the idm and electronica community.
Clint's score for π was followed up by his score for the next Darren Aronofsky film, Requiem for a Dream. The score became a cult hit, as it received high notoriety from a plethora of composers. The trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers used a rendition of the music, conducted with a full orchestra and choir. The song, named "Requiem for a Tower", was made just for the trailer and composed by Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen, and Veigar Mairgersson.
The soundtrack also confirmed its popularity with the remix album 'Requiem For A Dream - Remixed', which contains new mixes of the music by Mansell by likes of Paul Oakenfold, Josh Wink, Jagz Kooner, Lil Jon, and Delerium amongst others. This song still retained its popularity on certain websites such as YTMND, and made a complete reappearance in 2005 for a considerable amount of time in a string of commercials for the film Zathura. | © Wikipedia

thanks for still paying attention to my posting. Nice that you like this music as well. This piece is from the soundtrack of the movie "Requiem For A Dream". I'll recommend this movie later in my blog. Probably I'll put down another link to another track from RFAD as well. Clint Mansell wrote the music for other movies too and he used to play in a band some years ago. I've added a short biography from Wikipedia as well...
Kind regards
Elmar
