E PLURIBUS UNUM

One Among Many, No Better, No Worse, Just A Wayfaring Stranger

The Cross We Must Bear

Each one of us has our own cross to bear, and that means every problem, every heart ache, every trial of every kind, including being persecuted for Christ's sake. Whether it's our fault or not, it's something we have to go through. It's all part of the cross that we as Christians have to take up as we follow Jesus. I think it's wrong to complain about the cross that we must bear, for two reasons; [1] Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me". Of course this is not a literal cross, but a symbol of what we must go through as we follow Christ.
To deny ones self, he must put Christ and others, even before himself. See, it's not about me, it's about Christ, and my obedience to Him. If I love Jesus, I will obey His commandments. [2] James 1:2-4 Says;
Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials,
knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
Can you picture a good Christian following along behind Jesus, complaining to Him all the while, that his cross is too heavy? He will never put more on your back than you can carry.

You're right Michelle, that cross we bear sometimes gets really heavy, but I recall some of the words to a song by, "Selah"

"Weeping may endure for the night
But if you trust in Jesus
Everything's gonna be all right
Just hold on a little while longer

From the Album: "Press On" by, SELAH [ selahonline.com ]

Moms know, been there, done that! :wink:

they sure DO, and we should listen to them more closely more often, grandparents too! they always have the best advice.

i love this. i know a few years back, i had some "just hold on" moments. i used to read the psalms then :smile:and try to connect to nature as much as possible..always noticing how their efforts were instinctive and never forced.

I know what you mean, but every time I trusted in my instincts alone, they always lead me down the wrong path. I believe as human beings, our instincts have been perverted by the evil one, at the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden. It would be nice, and it could have been that way, for you see, there is no sin in nature. :smile:

:up: i don't really believe in "wrong paths" though. mine have become "blessings I just wasn't aware of at the time" :smile:
