Words
Epiphany, I guess I had one the moment I decided to post this on my blog. As far as I know, I had never heard the word until one day I was talking to my daughter on the phone, and she actually used the word in a sentence just as though she used it every day, and I said, "You had a what?" Of course she had to explain the meaning to me, and ever since then I've been looking for a chance to use the word in a conversation with one of my friends, but so far I haven't had the chance, or if I have, I missed it. I'm afraid now, that if I do, they will think I'm just showing off, using a word that I just learned yesterday. I really admire my daughter for expanding her vocabulary, and then having the courage to use it. Of course I've always been proud of all my children, for the many things that they have accomplished. Much more than I ever have, and that is as it should be.

Many years ago, when I was a young Sailor we had a Division Officer that would post his "word for the day" on his chalk board and each man in the division was required to go in his office, when he was not there, and find out what the word of the day was. We were required to learn to spell the word and use it three times that day. One never knew when he might see you during that day and ask you what the word of the day was. Many of the Sailors thought this was a high school thing and disliked it, but I thought it was something we all could use. I remember one of these “word for the day” offerings was epiphany and even though I can not recall the last time I used the word, I will remember it always.
