It's just life

So why get all worked up about it?

Mutiny inside the Republican party

, ,

Aha! The Republicans are turning out to have a moral backbone after all. Bush has been pushing for tougher methods of interrogating prisoners suspected of terrorist activities, but now, as the news would have it, a senate comittee not only threw aside Bush's plans, but actually suggested a new law that would give the suspects more rights. Colin Powell and John McCain are apparently among the harshest critics of the adminstration's treatment of these political prisoners and they are actually standing up in defense of the Geneva convention. I always liked Colin Powell, he seemed to be the only decent person stuck in a hornet's nest.

This is not a political battle as much as it is a clash of two different levels of consciousness (mainly blue and orange), a clash of paradigms. Bush and co would do anything to have their way, but in the very same party is another group of people, and I suspect it is bigger, that actually to some extent wants to respect human rights. Could there be green in the Republican party? Could a green republican live with him/herself - and in that case, how long before their world collapses? Hmm, interesting question. I don't think it is possible, but what do I know?

Famous Bush quote: "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face. It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

You fucking idiot.
