There are some interesting moves on the Tech scene these days.

Nokia says the new version of Ovi Maps that includes free walk and drive navigation has been downloaded over 1.4 million times since its introduction on 21 January 2010. Wow.. That is a lot. Guess we do not need the google maps on our Nokias anymore. But another interesting move is that the Downloads clearly makes a step towards making Ovi.com known as a Marketplace for applications. This is not new. Ovi, a further development from the MOSH (Mobilize and Share)platformhas been around for some years. I have used it to sync my Calendars and Contacts. The applications have also been around at Ovi.com for a while, but only recently I find it practical to use. Clearly this will be Nokia's answer to Apples move on the apps store.

A further result is probably that the makers of Navigation Devices will have a hard time going forward. So guess this will mean a good bye to Tom Tom, Becker & Co.



So what is Apple doing, they head away with a big iPod called iPad with plenty of new features. They allready have their applications site with plenty of apps you can use on your iPhone and ..iPad.

But did you know that the company may actually be hard at work on a second device already? Now, this might not be right because it originated from a good source, it was a second-hand source. Frrom what the roumors says, Apple is pretty far along on work on second tablet device. A bigger one. And this one may be much more like a Mac than an iPhone. And this is the interesting peace where they will meet the Chrome OS Platform and Google.

Chrome OS was created to be used with more traditional computing form factors, like netbooks and laptops. But there’s a new concept video that has surfaced on a Chromium Project page that very much shows how the two could and should compete head-on in the touch tablet space.



Again, this is just a concept video at this point, but it clearly shows what the people building Chrome OS are thinking about for future products. Oh, and in case you’re worried that since Chromium OS is an open source project, this is just some random person making these videos that Google is unlikely to use for Chrome OS, they were made by Glen Murphy, a Googler working on Chrome (with a sense of humor).

In addition Google announced an update today to its Android OS for Nexus One phones that would enable the pinch-to-zoom multi-touch feature for the first time in a few Google apps: Maps, Gallery, and the Web Browser. So Androids is also getting closer to iPhone functionalities.

I guess 2010 will be an exciting year.
I think Nokia will fight back on what they have lost in Market share since the iPhone came around. Ovi.com will help them and I do think they have the capabilities to make decent Hardware.
Apple is moving forward with what we had expected... so might look very Fancy, but I have the feeling that the iPad is not really new news.
Google is certainly heading forward to gain their peace of the Market. Will be exciting to see what Microsoft is coming up with
