Hey guys,
a friend of mine, Christof, and I drove to Austria this weekend.
Austria is Christofs homeplace and i definetely like it to be there. First, jeah, the plan was, that we just fetch his mother and have two nice days.
First day we got up much too late and so we didn't start at the planned time.
But after some hours we arrove Füssen. I tried to get music sheets of my beloved musical 'Ludwig 2'.
After it we passed Schwangau, the place where I go on vacation one ore two times every year.
So we had coffee in my well-known hotel 'Helmers' and right after it we drove to Reutte in Austria. There we just had dinner and then went direct to our bedrooms. First we decided to play LineageII, but the internet connection was this bad, that we went to sleep right then.
Next day we got up at 12 o'clock. Lunch was nearly ready. Before this we had another try to play L2. This time it works and so we played half an hour. Then it was time for lunch. At lunch I heard nice stories about castles and fortresses near Reutte and I was interested. So we decided to got to castle 'Ehrenberg' and fortress 'Schloßkopf'. What I didn't know was, how hard the way up would be.
First it was kinda easy. 'Cause it was just the way to castle 'Ehrenberg'. I think we walked about 20 minutes. The castle was just a ruin, but I learned much about life there in all the centuries. After taking a lot of photo we started our walk (climb) to the fortress, which was a mountain higher (all in all 1250 m).
On the way I thought I have to die. Damn, this was hard..
But when we arrived te top it was great!
Fortress wasn't intact, but the view was beautful. We saw castle 'Ehrenberg' much smaller than we saw it in front of it. And we also saw 'via claudia augusta' - a way/ street from Augsburg in germany, through Austria, to Venedig in Italy.
They also had a nice medieval tread wheel crane. It was great to see how they built castles and fortresses with such easy methods.
After we had driven back to Christofs place, we got our things and went back to Karlsruhe!
All in all, a very great weekend.
Thanks a lot again, Christof ;-)
