My blog on opera internship

The world is fast becoming a global village, thus the increasing urge for more people to use the internet. This no doubt has brought about lots of benefits in our everyday life including technological advancement. One of the tool for this benefit is social media.

Social media has become appealing to big and small companies, and has being modernized to reach consumers through the internet. The growth of social media has increased, greatly the ability to reach more consumers globally and it has become the new tool for effective business marketing and sales.

With more people using the web to reconnect with old pals or meet new people, social networking sites like my opera are continuously giving them the platform to do so. In doing this more people are invited to the community, thereby increasing the number of users. In Nigeria for example, there is an influx of people constantly using social networking sites for a number of reasons which include reuniting with old friends, meeting new friends or simply because it is a more cheaper means of communicating. This can be seen in the increasing number of users from Nigeria.

I have had a rare privilege of visiting 27 out of the 36 states in the country and understand 5 of it's major languages. I have a full understanding, of where the market lies in the country and strategies to penetrate it. As the most active campus crew member in Nigeria, I liaised with various school heads, student groups, information technology (IT) personnel, major IT outlets, corperate organisations, all of which are important in promoting opera in Nigeria through social media. All this coupled with experience gained at Source-em(Ltd) as a marketing personnel, I found more can be done to increase the number of opera users by taking a more offline approach, since Nigeria is still at a developmental stage (IT wise)and many potential users have not been persuaded to use the internet.

At the current rate of technological growth, I strongly believe that Nigeria will in the near future be a major market.
