I have done some work cleaning up my LVM documentation. This time around I have adapted it for Salix Linux.

PSA - Listen to Overpaid Celebrities

If you saw the ridiculous PSA by Will Ferrel and co., you should love this response

VMware Workstation 6.5.3 released

,

The folks at VMware are no longer horrible human beings. They have finally released an update to VMware Workstation 6.5! What's so special about this release? They finally fixed the broken NAT service whic now allows me to run Workstation on my Windows 7 machine. WooHoo!

PCLinuxOS LXDE

, ,

PCLinuxOS has released a remaster with the LXDE environment.

PCLinuxOS LXDE

It's pretty nice if you are into lightweight setups. Only issue I had originally was that it would not keep the left handed mouse setting. I could switch things around with xmodmap, but figured there had to be config file somewhere within LXDE. After some searching, I found it in /user/share/lxde/config, which makes the setting global so I won't complain

Hey Sarah, put a sock in it already!

, , , ...

I am getting tired of reading how Sarah is whining about that Katie Couric was "biased" in her interview. Give me break. If anything Katie, was way too nice to you during the interview. The problem with the interview was you being *clueless* with the *soft* questions Katie was asking. Even Huckleberry (whom I can't believe I am actually agreeing with) thinks you need to get over it.

Holiday season is over, life getting back to normal

, , ,

December was a busy month. My family and I went to Florida earlier in the month to see my folks. Or more accurately, to let them see their grandaughter, Kaylin. My wife and I got to pass Kaylin off on my folks so we could do stuff together, which was nice. Also met up with an old friend. It was a nice trip.

Not long after we got back, my in-laws arrived for Christmas. I am an introverted person by nature and having a group that thrives on chaos does take a toll on me. That being said, the visit was fine.

Thankfully, we have the house back to ourselves. Peace and quiet is nice

And now for something completely different

,

Over the Holiday season I did something completely different. Since I do IT, whenever I read stuff it is almost always something of a technical nature. Thus it has been ages since I read a real fiction/sci-fi/fantasy novel. So I actually read a non-technical book. I read Polar Star by Martin Cruz Smith. It's book 2 of the Arkady Renko series (book 1 was not available at the time, hence starting out with book 2). I enjoyed it and thus came to the novel conclusion (hah, I kill me) to read more non-techy books. I am now starting on Gorky Park.

Today is the day!

Today is election day not only the national scene but at the local scene as well.

Per usual, I voted a mix ticket. On the national scene: Bob Barr got my vote for President and Larry Stafford got my vote for US Senate seat in Illinois.

We'll see how things unfold tonight.

I hope those that are able to vote go out and make your voice heard!

November 4th cannot get here soon enough

,

I am ready for this crap to be over with. Both major parties are in overdrive with pulling crap out of their ass the 4th gets closer.

I have decided this go around to vote for Bob Barr. He's the only one who has talked about protecting the constitution and decreasing the size of the federal government. Hopefully there will be enough of a third party vote this election to help increase the visibility and viability of third parties.
