9? 12? 24? Things Get Complicated...

,

Since a recent discovery, some cience people want to change the number of planets in our solar system. Planet "2003 UB313" has an ugly name, but it's also the biggest thing they have found since Neptune. So, they want to include it in the planet list.

The thing is, if they want to include this 'lil bugger in the list, they have to change the definition of "planet".

So, the guys in white thought a lot and came up with this:
  • The object must be in orbit around a star, but must not itself be a star(duh!)
  • It must have enough mass for the body's own gravity to pull it into a nearly spherical shape

SO does this means zodiac has to change?

Now if we accept Mr 2003 UB313, we would have to accept 2 more: Ceres and Charon. Yup, same Charon as in Pluto's moon... Now Pluto & Charo would be a team: a "double planet".

Wait! things get even more complicated! There's a candidate list that contains somewhere aorund 12 more names... thats 24. 24! good thing i dont have to learn the planets in the school again. I wouldn't know which is first, 2003 EL61 or 2002 AW197...

Happy Office Pirates Copy / Paste Day To Everyone!

, , ,

Ok, so I liked this article, but i don't feel like writting... So i made up this new holliday, Office Pirates Copy/Paste Day... Ok, I know it's a lame excuse for my laziness, sue me. Oh, and dont worry officepirates, as much as i enjoy plagiarism, my moral sense of justice prevents me from not giving the appropiate credits... Damn, i need to find a good surgeon to extract the sense of justice out of me...

So here's the article Copy/Pasted as is, without mods directly from one of the coolest waste-my-time webpages on earth (we need more of this kind of pages, the world would be a better place, seriously).

Everything Made Easy
Feed Your Laziness with Lunchclock

By C.Kula, Posted July 25, 2006 1:00 pm
With the American Lunch Hour steadily shrinking towards the Lunch 15-Minutes, Office Pirates reader Ken K. emailed us this website which aims to win you back a few minutes: Lunchclock.com.

From the website's FAQ: Lunchclock uses a chrono-distortion algorithm to calculate how much to speed up or slow down the clock based on the details of your working day and your desired lunch period extension. If, for example, your lunch period is 12:00 until 13:00, and you set a lunch period extension of 1 hour, Lunchclock runs fast during the morning and reaches 12:00 when it is really 11:30. Lunchclock then runs slow and reaches 13:00 when it is really 13:30. Lunchclock then runs fast again until the end of your working day.

Listen, Lunchclock: As much as we want to cheat the workday, and as much as we like the phrase "chrono-distortion algorithm," don't you think it might become a bit obvious when the only times your computer displays a huge clock graphic are those days that you've gone out for a long lunch? THAT seems "highly suspicious."

Moreover, if your boss notices you've been gone for a while, which is he going to trust more: The clock on your computer that's been stuck on 12:22 for the last eight minutes, or the five-time-zone Bulova diver's watch on his wrist?

Well, guess that depends on the boss...

Oh, and also, check this cool game they found out... It's like a pretty neat cool RPG and it's quite popular too!

... you might want to check out this other game we've discovered. It’s thousands of years old and it’s from the Far East. In it, you’re the powerful king of a vast land whose every word is law. People will throw their lives away if you ask them to. You and your army, which includes knights, fanatical religious leaders, foot soldiers and even a warrior Queen, have to defend your country while conquering your attackers. It’s really tough to stop playing once you get started:

Sweet...

Real Life Duff Beer!

Yup, out from the Simpsons, into the real world. Duff beer is now bottled in Guadalajara, Jalisco (that's right kiddo, that is in Mexico, and not USA. On a side note: Mexico rules).

I was saying... this guy called Rodrigo Contreras got the patent in Mexico for Duff beer and is now bottling and soon will be distributing the brew.

Of course I'm expecting that 2oth Century Fox will sue him anytime soon in the most traditional United States way... damn... sounds like a cliché to me, but i swear its true, you self-called americans sue for everything... Well anyway, 20th Century Fox does... In the late 1990s, Lion Nathan in Australia produced an unrelated beer called Duff Beer. 20th Century Fox sued for trademark infringement and won (Wikipedia).

But Rodrigo has the patent so maybe nothing will happen...

The original article is here, but it's in spanish... If i find a good one in english, i'll put it up ASAP. Or, you could google "Duff Beer Mexico" or something like that, don't be lazy.

Ha. Moe's Bar is no longer a VIP in Duff distribution list.

Mouse Gestures in Windows

,

I love everything about Opera (aww, come on, you gotta love this and ditch iexplorer!), but the one thing that I love the most is mouse gestures. Now I can't live without them!

Bad thing you cant use mouse gestures in Windows explorer... or Word, or MSN messenger, or Lotus notes, or...

Wait... You can! As long as you use StrokeIt (no porn jokes please)!

At little over 100kb (really small aint it?) this FREE piece of software packs a hell of functionality!

From their website:

What is StrokeIt?

StrokeIt is an advanced mouse gesture recognition engine and command processor. What is a mouse gesture? Mouse gestures are simple symbols that you "draw" on your screen using your mouse. When you perform a mouse gesture that StrokeIt can recognize, it will perform the "action" associated with that gesture. In short, it's a nifty little program that lets you easily control programs by drawing symbols with your mouse.

What can it do?

StrokeIt can currently recognize more than 80 unique mouse gestures and can be easily trained to recognize many more. For each gesture recognized, StrokeIt can execute a user-defined set of commands within the active application. StrokeIt commands are defined within plugin libraries that can be easily created by third parties to do nearly anything.

Its kind of easy to customize, and the learn function to use weird lines as a mouse gesture works great.

Every time you "draw" a gesture you will be able to see a blue line marking your gesture, but if you don't like it, you can make it invisible. You can even have it running in background (no icon on tray bar) so you wont even notice its there until you use it!

http://www.tcbmi.com/strokeit/ windows only i think...

My favorites:

Right click+Left click = Opens MyDocuments
Right click+move mouse to left = back
Right click+move mouse down then to right = close window
Right click+draw a N = open Lotus Notes
Right click+move mouse up = Ctrl+c
Right click+move mouse down = Ctrl+v

Right click+draw a zig-zag kinda line (i used the learn command for this one) = writes my lotus notes password and accepts... yeah i know... its not that secure, but im lazy...

Right click+move mouse to left then down = go to end of document in Word

Send me a msg if you can't figure out how to config any of this combos. :D

SinFest! Viva Le Resistance, bitches!

,

SinFest has a totally new look. The web page moved away from Keenspot hosting since July 9. congratz SinFest!

If you have never read SinFest before, it's about this little womanizer-wannabe who is trying to get to his dream woman (who happens to be the gal who is near him at the moment)... Lots of sarcasm, parody and little respect for themes that are usually tabú (politics, religion, stuff like that), and a mix of manga and newspaper comic (tho I'm sure very few newspapers would publish SinFest).

Very funny, most recommended. Click here to read the first Strip.
