Every Friday Opera employees gather for a round of cold beer and weekly gibberish. It's a cool thing they got going, because there are so many working for this company now, and it's not always easy to meet people. Therefore, many show up at this social event where you can have something to drink (beer, wine, coke, water, etc.) and get something to eat. I love this tradition, because you really get that weekend feeling, and you know for the next two days you can do whatever you want. :up:

I hope you will have a great weekend too — wherever you might be!

It is, we live in cardboard boxes so we can be able to buy our weekly beer on Fridays. At my job we only drink beer the first friday after pay day. We do that so we can upgrade to a tent instead :smile:

Its a good idea, You find some time to catch up with everyone ! I would prefer natural fruit juices ! And yes Drinking is dangerous at any age

I like water. Or vegan sugarfree hot chocolate. It's like hot chocolate, but there's no milk or sugar in it.

Soy drink/Rice drink + Cocoa (Which is in Sweden called Kakao or Cacao)

What you do at the office is a great idea, at the English Academy we do it on Saturdays. Not every Saturday, though. And I like drinking 1.5 litre Heinekens!

I used to work in a hostel. No alcohol there, but we didn't really work much either.

I worked four hours and the work I had to do took a half hour if done thoroughly, which means three and a half hour of being lazy ass chicks talking about everything and nothing.

I also think this is a great idea. I love Friday's. :up:

Everything can be dangerous if you exaggerate and abuse it. For me it's all about enjoying life. I can't be bothered worrying what's gonna kill me or not. I think western societies have too much fear built in it. That's not healthy.

We did this at my last place. Usually we'd finish at 6pm, but fridays we all went up to reception at 5pm and had 'Drinks and Nibbles'. It was really good.

Sounds great!

My dad used to work for a Canadian company and they had this tradition too. So, if we went to his office on Saturday, there would be food left over for us to eat...eventhough it was a bit stale :wink:

The MSDS for ethanol indicates that it is carcinogenic, but I still consume it. It's a mild carcinogen, and has a very low risk of causing cancer if consumed sparingly. Pregnant women shouldn't drink, though.

Saem- It's not imposed by the bar owner...I learnt about it at a bar course. He teacher there said it would be 'discrimination'. There was a woman who drank a lot when she was pregnant. The child wasn't 100% healthy when it was born, so she tried to sue the bar. The court just thought she was an idiot and she didn't get anything.

We have a pretty funny rule in Norway as well. It goes something like:


You are not allowed to put any kind of alcohol in non alcohol beverage, but you are allowed to put non alcohol beverage into beverage with alcohol. :eek:

So rum with coke is ok, coke with rum isn't :eek:

Was that aimed at me? I know I have (if I'm allowed) a smattering of English. Same goes for my Bokmål (Norwegian), "New Norweigan" (Nynorsk), French as well as my Italian. As long as a language can't be compiled, I can't handle it very well p: I started learning English from console/computer games in the late 80's before having English classes at primary and secondary school. Then dropped English as soon as I got the choice at high school to leave more time for math and physics related classes.
