opera, 1001 comments challenge, steelseries

In case you've missed it, we're doing a "1001 comments challenge" on the front page. I really, really hope we make it. That would be so sweet. We've never passed a thousand comments before, so this will be a first for front page posts.

In addition, the epic hardware guys at Steelseries gives us free hardware to hand out. Very, very cool. My favorite has to be the red headset. All though the pink one is strangely appealing... Hm...

It's not all about winning. It's just /awe to see so many people staying on-topic for so long. I'm baffled.

We did not say how many of each item we got either. Some Opera merchandise will probably be added to the "prize pack" too.

Hm... We're not that strict. I'd like to call that a clever example of comment mechanism?

Hard to know if a user has more than one account as he/she can use different IP to log in and seperate email addresses.

@glue, if I see a commentator with username "opera23", "opera24", "opera25", etc. I'll take action, don't worry about cheating - we are on the look out.

We need 143 comments a day to make this happen.

We will clean up the post daily with double posts and off-topic comments to make sure we always have a correct number.

What if one creates usernames like "amma", "appa", "anna", "anni", "akka", "thangachi", "chitti", "chittappa", "periamma", "periappa", "mama", "attai", "thatta", "patti"?

How about giving prizes to only to accounts created before today?

the challenge is not running for 2 years Chuck(like the above mentioned post),
if it did,
I am sure the amount of comments would have been over a million
close to the number of new members added on Opera in the past two years
