Pirates are fun

From PirateBay's legal page as a response to thousands of copyright infringement notices:

As you may or may not be aware, Sweden is not a state in the United States of America. Sweden is a country in northern Europe. Unless you figured it out by now, US law does not apply here. For your information, no Swedish law is being violated.

Please be assured that any further contact with us, regardless of medium, will result in:

a) a suit being filed for harassment

b) a formal complaint lodged with the bar of your legal counsel, for sending frivolous legal threats.

It is the opinion of us and our lawyers that you are ....... morons, and that you should please go sodomize yourself with retractable batons.

Please also note that your e-mail and letter will be published in full on http://www.thepiratebay.org.

Go fuck yourself.

Polite as usual,

anakata

Hilarious.

On a related subject, has Opera prepared a statement to all the people complaining about the Apricot update yet? devil

Espen André ØverdahlEspenAO Tuesday, April 7, 2009 1:26:09 PM

Yes, this it it. bigsmile

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, April 7, 2009 1:35:15 PM

Just the "we and our lawyers" part I assume. lol I'd have paid to see that get posted as a response by Opera staff, especially how whiny people were this time. It seemed worse than normal somehow. irked Which, of course, made the relatively minor update problems seem worse as everyone kept going on about them like the entire server data had been lost.

Still, this is here as a template for the response to Banana complainers. up

Espen André ØverdahlEspenAO Tuesday, April 7, 2009 1:38:16 PM

On a more serious note, I'm not sure what you are referring to Furie? The Apricot release was very good, except for a few hickups with the sidebar- and friends module. We've done a few Pre-Easter bug fixes too.

The Banana release is gonna be a hairy one. Looking forward to releasing the gates of banana upon you.

Dark FurieFurie Tuesday, April 7, 2009 1:53:33 PM

Yeah, tiny little things that didn't take all that long to fix at all. But the way people were acting and complaining, you'd think the release had infected their PCs with the data equivalent of Ebola. There were more whining about the bugs than usual and more people threatening to start their own sites in competition as revenge. lol It annoys me mildly.

I prefer to read through the comments that are there on the post and ask about anything I'm unsure on. You mentioned the sidebar modules had been taken down to be fixed up a little and I took that as a good thing as it meant the site could go on as usual without having to be completely down while bugfixes were carried out. Unfortunately, there were only about three other people who felt that way. The other two and a half million decided Opera had stolen their sidebars and were performing weird sexual experiments on them, from their reactions, possibly with the afore-mentioned retractable batons.

KarenNerak Tuesday, April 7, 2009 5:56:38 PM

Ugh...can you imagine that baton after it's been retracted? bigeyes

slackwrdave Tuesday, April 7, 2009 8:18:30 PM

I would like to see all organizations release statements as candid as that of TPB. bigsmile

It makes life more interesting. up
