My Opera is closing 1st of March

I read blogs for a living

And I think I like it

This guy knows what he's doing

Barack Obama

Barack's to-do list 2009:

  • President of the United States: Done.
  • Nobel Peace prize winner: Done.

I think he deserves the Nobel peace prize. I can't wait until he comes to Norway and creates complete media (and traffic) chaos.

WTF?

Dark FurieFurie Friday, October 9, 2009 11:44:07 AM

He knows his shit, which is why I was always behind him from the beginning. Good on him I say, well deserved. Sure, he can't fix all the problems from the past few administrations like he planned to, but he's doing more than most said he could.

Angelikiellinidata Friday, October 9, 2009 11:52:51 AM

I am delighted.

He certainly has accomplished a great deal, and so young.

Makes me wonder what else he'll do if he lives to be eighty.

I would love to ask him what his non political goals are..

Quit smoking and be more awesome?

TabTabmartel Friday, October 9, 2009 12:12:54 PM

He couldn't possibly be more awesome.

So maybe quit smoking and learn to love cats?

Dark FurieFurie Friday, October 9, 2009 12:19:53 PM

But cats are evil and plotting our downfall. cry

TabTabmartel Friday, October 9, 2009 12:24:35 PM

Yes but one day they may be voters....

Having tried that I must say that the positive effects of traffic chaos are highly overrated. wink

I have never played War Craft.

I tried to, but my graphic card said.."You have got to be kidding!"

It handles pac man fairly well though. lol

Karbonadekaraj Friday, October 9, 2009 1:25:46 PM

Obama is also an Opera fan, so we all love him smile

I was worried that he would be a weak and ineffective president due to some very powerful interests trying to undermine his presidency in every way possible. Hopefully this prize will help a lot. up

r♡serose-marie Friday, October 9, 2009 3:33:11 PM

Oh yay, I can't wait for the traffic chaos... p
Like when Clinton was here and you had to go through security just to get into the gym in the building opposite where he lived.

FataL Friday, October 9, 2009 4:22:55 PM

Nobel Peace prize deserves yearly WTF prize.

TabTabmartel Friday, October 9, 2009 4:34:04 PM

I remember what the traffic was like when he was here in Ottawa. Roads were closed for him and the roads that weren't closed were jammed.

CharlieBAMAToNE Friday, October 9, 2009 5:31:01 PM

Well deserved? Why? For ending the war in Afghanistan? For bringing our troops home from Iraq? For fostering peace in the Middle East? (Or anywhere, for that matter.) For threatening Honduras on their completely legal and bloodless removal of a rising dictator? Yeah, sure. Give this man a trophy.

Caroloperainchicago Friday, October 9, 2009 6:27:41 PM

Maybe I'll get more hits and votes on my Youtube video "Obama Roni" lol

I am actually quite surprised. The man has not done anything yet. Why giving him an award?
If the Nobel Committee is giving prizes for being a celebrity... I am not saying that the president is not good enough, but Obama has not accomplished enough yet.
This actually reduces the 'weight' and 'value' to a world recognized prize.

Caroloperainchicago Friday, October 9, 2009 10:52:58 PM

I think he should be called Barack Sven Obama, at least until the end of 2009 lol

Espen André ØverdahlEspenAO Saturday, October 10, 2009 2:18:38 PM

I love that he got the award. Usually the Nobel Peace Prize goes to some retired old chap, but this time they give it to a man who actually has the power to do something with it.

It's an award for the future and I think Obama will follow through.

Caroloperainchicago Saturday, October 10, 2009 3:26:36 PM

I agree Espen. Ok, so his name is now Barack Sven Obamasen, until the end of the year lol

TabTabmartel Saturday, October 10, 2009 4:02:31 PM

I think it's a great way to inspire change. I like what Mr. Obama stands for, and I hope this award inspires other world leaders to seek more peaceful means to settle issues that otherwise may have resulted in more wars.
It is nice to see a man in his prime with the power to make a huge global impact recieving this.

KarenNerak Sunday, October 11, 2009 12:10:46 AM

Apparently I'm the only one around here who doesn't like the guy. whistle

TabTabmartel Sunday, October 11, 2009 1:14:08 AM

I can't stand that some have elevated him to a God like status, he is just a man, and too many have forgotten that.

KarenNerak Sunday, October 11, 2009 1:30:02 AM

Too true. up

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, October 11, 2009 11:04:47 AM

“We are not awarding the prize for what may happen in the future but for what he has done in the previous year. We would hope this will enhance what he is trying to do.” -- Mr. Jagland, former prime minister of Norway

That guy can talk out both sides of his mouth just as well as Obama. It's no wonder they're in love.

The Peace Prize is a joke and has been for some time. Here's just one example why: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/10/09/AR2009100903860.html

Ok. I generally hate bringing up Politics because it's a mine field of strong opinions, but I'm curious to see what this might trigger.

Dark FurieFurie Monday, October 12, 2009 12:49:15 PM

What it might trigger? Don't you remember the last US President pushing a bill through Congress that allowed him to nuke the headquarters of any social networking site that had a predominantly bad opinion of him in it's users? Politicians aren't well known for their tolerance of blog criticism after all. scared

Espen André ØverdahlEspenAO Monday, October 12, 2009 1:27:40 PM

Hehe. I don't care what politicians think, I think more of those who read and discuss here.

Dark FurieFurie Monday, October 12, 2009 3:49:56 PM

bigeyes This is all a social experiment. You're selling our reactions to a team of psychologists who'll run freaky experiments on us and probe our secret places in the most arousing humiliating and terrifying ways. scared
