I read blogs for a living

And I think I like it

Iceland is pissed off

,

This volcanic beast of ash is making its way to Norway and Europe as a result of yesterday's eruption beneath a huge glacier. All flights in Norway has been canceled for at least until Friday or Sunday.

Personally, I think this is related to the financial crisis. Don't ask me why. It just is.

Do you feel sad because you want to go to the Internets?HELLO EVERYBODY

Also flights canceled in UK, Ireland and Sweden yikes Sounds serious sad At least it soon becomes related to financial crisis because it costs a lot for airline companies.

I've never heard of flights being cancelled because of volcanic ash before! Do you know which bit of Iceland the volcano was in? Not near any towns or villages I hope! bigeyes

We will have some very messy rain this week I think!

Airplanes have crashed because of volcanic ash clouds before. The weather radar in the nose cone of a passenger liner can't detect volcanic ash because it's designed to detect Water particles. The volcanic ash is made of fine, sharp grit that's hard enough to scour glass. scared.
I wouldn't fly around there now if you paid me to. faint.

Ash ingested by jet engines may lead to the immediate deterioration in engine performance and engine failure. The principal cause of engine failure is the deposition of ash in the hot sections of the engine. Glass from melting volcanic ash will coat fuel nozzles, the combustor, and turbine, which reduces the efficiency of fuel mixing and restricts air passing through the engine. This causes surging, flame out, and immediate loss of engine thrust. Ash may also seriously erode moving engine parts, including the compressor and turbine blades, which reduces the efficiency of the engine.

This is some serious stuff now. People on the West coast in Norway could even smell sulfur today!

Personally, I think Iceland ate some bad eggs, and thanks to their upset stomachs, Europe smells like sulfur now.

I never thought it would blow the ash all the way to here... Slovenian airspace started closing down last night and got totally closed by 6am Saturday morning.
Ash high enough to not effect us, but it can drop.
Crazy.

At least it wasn't a Chernobyl or Three Mile Island plume. eek
