With all the built in features and the upgraded rendering engine, can Chrome, FF, IE or Safari compete with this beast of a browser?

Let's see...
The biggest change in newer versions of firefox and chrome are the version numbers, safari hasn't made a new release on windows in ages and IE is from Microsoft.
Conclusion: None of them stands a chance against opera bigsmile

Absolutely minimal. I like that. up

I'm surprised your Speed Dial is so tame. bigsmile

I very rarely use it actually. I have most stuff in browser history, so I just use the address bar a lot and quickly find what I need directly there. How does your setup look like?

.hey Espen i got two words for you..(read my lips)....... HELL NO!!....they don't stand the chance...

Dustin WilsonKhadgar Tuesday, June 28, 2011 4:41:47 PM

My setup is rather tame compared to yours. No close button on tabs (middle click FTW); no thumbnails in tabs; no thumbnails in tab tooltips (I'd love to just be able to disable them alltogether); no status bar; show full URL in address bar. I feel asham.ed comparing mine to your highly customized browsing experience.

But, I use Speed Dial daily. It's by far one of my favorite features of Opera.

none have that kind of gui customization out of the code

The new featherweight skin and toolbar setup is pretty slick. And the new speed dial extensions are just epic. I'm already using four of them.

Opera rocks my socks!

100% minimal, spartan, clean, attractive, as little color as possible. I have the window manager remove the decoration for maximal viewing area. I hardly change a thing on Opera. It comes out of the box about the way I want it. Running on Linux.

I absolutely love the native look of stuff running on Linux! Looks fantastic.

Wouldn't say so. I've never thought of removing the close button. I'm surprised that most of you have automatic zoom on. Can't stand it with those Speed Dials eating up all the screen space. Too much!

To be honest, there is only one real competitor to opera 11.50: that 's opera mini. Because it can also run on other browsers lol and other devices ofcourse. smile

I actually want it to take up more vertical space. I find the search there redundant, so I remove it. I'd like to remove the configure button (as I can just use the contextual menu to configure). Having them larger has an advantage on pages which are optimized for Speed Dial such as My Opera. The more space I have the more information is shown to me in the thumbnail. I don't yet use any of the extensions as I haven't found any to really interest me. I only use two regular extensions anyway: A newer version of Make It So (as it hasn't been approved on Opera's extensions page yet) and another one I made to remove Apple Springboard icons from webpages so Speed Dial doesn't use them.

Adonis @ my.opera /friendspartyworldAdonisali Wednesday, June 29, 2011 2:00:43 AM

Is there an extension to share the current page on my.opera? Or a (working) widget for that?

Charles SchlossChas4 Wednesday, June 29, 2011 3:26:48 AM

Mine is pretty Simple

Will there be an extension to clip webpages on MS One Note? I need both Opera and One Note be 100% compatible as FF and Chrome are.

The note taking feature on Opera is great but not good enough.

Adonis @ my.opera /friendspartyworldAdonisali Thursday, June 30, 2011 6:15:28 AM

My.opera is partly one big notebook lol
I want to be able asap to connect through bluetooth or wifi with neighbouring phones that use the same opera mini, just because i will be offline just for a week. I know this would be probably an alpha version and a paid or sponsored application too but i would be really proud on opera if they could manage that: no direct twitter, no direct facebook, but using internet as it used to be very long ago, taking days to get the result of a batch job, because computer time was money. Just "think" about it, please.

Adonis @ my.opera /friendspartyworldAdonisali Thursday, June 30, 2011 6:22:15 AM

Most of modern computer viruses are so dangerous because everything has to be 100 percent compatible, especially to such weak systems as ms and fb. wink

Adonis @ my.opera /friendspartyworldAdonisali Thursday, June 30, 2011 6:38:55 AM

In the old days, as far as i can remember, you had to have a password for almost everything you did. And you had to know which computer program you had to use to cnnect to which address.

Artur „Jurgi” JurgawkaJurgi Thursday, June 30, 2011 12:27:20 PM

Pros:
+ JS engine seems to eat less CPU (at least Twitter and Google Reader eats 2-3 times less CPU),
+ Memory management seems to (at least!) work better.

So much so far. smile

Big speed dials make it easier to see their content. That's especially useful for speed dial extensions. And when you have a lot of speed dials, automatic zoom gives you the largest previews.
