Some people think high-school graduates should travel or work for a period of time before they go to university. To what extent do you agree. (4:49)
In present-day society, it is generally recognised that travelling and working experience is playing increasingly crucial role in our lives. However, in the meanwhile, whether high-school graduates should travel or work for sometime before they go to university constitutes a controversial issue. Some individuals assets that travelling and working experience would definitely enhance university performance of the students, while many others argue that it would be much better to go to the university right after gratuating from high school. From my own perspective, I am in favor of the former view.
Convincing argument can be made that it would be good for high-school graduates to travel before they go to university. In the first place, travelling can definitely broaden students’ horizons. More specifically, students can learn outside their own culture while they travel and interact with other people. In the second place, travelling is kind of relax for the high-school graduates so that they can have a better preparation for their study at university in the future. More precisely, travelling can enhance the students’ knowledge and life experience. Last but not least, travelling gives students strong positive attitute in their life. In other words, by travelling around, going to the places they’ve never been in, and receiving information which they’ve never heard of, students would be more excited in learning because they are reminded that there are still lots of stuff that they don’t know and this could give an incentive for the students to work hard at university because university is a place for people to learn.
Admittedly, to go to the university right after gratuating from high-school is a reasonable choice for the students. This is due to the fact that most of the parents supposed that learning in the classroom is the most efficient way for students to gain knowledge. Nevertheless, learning in classroom can only enrich the students’ knowledge. But the problem is that they may not know how to apply such kind of theory in the reality.
To conclude, I would concede that go to the university right after high-school gratuatiion is the most conventional rule for students. Despite that, to travel after gratuating from high-school can give the graduates some opportunities to apply the knowledge they learned from school. Overall, I am convinced that high-school graduates should do some travelling before they go to university.
