Memories of a Dream: A Poem

,

Here's a short poem I just recently wrote:

Memories of a Dream

I had a dream of you the other night,
Of you and me together at the shore.
We walked along the beach holding hands,
And talked about our future plans together.

I looked into your eyes and held you close,
Kissed your sweet lips and wanted it to last forever.
Held you in my arms and felt your embrace,
Saw the light in your eyes as I gazed upon your pretty face.

Oh how your eyes, they sparkled in the sun,
I was lost in them, their beauty captured me.
You kissed me so deeply, then you were gone.
The memory of your kiss still lingers on my lips.

Moonlit Passion: A Poem

, ,

I just wrote this poem a little while ago, it's not that good, but I hope you like it wink

Moonlit Passion

On the moonlit night
I dreamt of you
Walking and holding your hand
Kissing you
Holding you
Taking you in my arms
Telling you how I feel
Sharing my love
Feeling your body
Next to mine
Caressing, kissing,
Making love
The heat of our passions
Mixing and filling the air
As the moon shines down upon us.

The Ghost of Valley Forge

, , ,

I found this poem while surfing the Internet one day and thought it was interesting.

The Ghost of Valley Forge
(author unknown)

I had a dream the other night I didn't understand,
A figure walking through the mist, with flintlock in his hand.

His clothes were torn and dirty, as he stood there by my bed,
He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low he said:

"We fought a revolution to secure our liberty,
We wrote the Constitution, as a shield from tyranny.

For future generations, this legacy we gave,
In this land, the land of the free and home of the brave.

The freedom we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep,
But tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep.

Your freedom gone-your courage lost-you're no more than a slave,
In this, the land of the free and the home of the brave.

You buy permits to travel, and permits to own a gun,
Permits to start a business, or to build a place for one.

On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent,
Although you have no voice in choosing how the money's spent.

Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate,
Your moral values can't be taught, according to the state.

You read about the current "news" in a very biased press,
You pay a tax you do not owe, to please the IRS.

Your money is no longer made of silver or of gold,
You trade your wealth for paper, so life can be controlled.

You pay for crimes that make our Nation turn from God to shame,
You've taken Satan's number, as you've traded in your name.

You've given government control to those who do you harm,
So they can padlock churches, and steal the family farm.

And keep our country deep in debt, put men of God in jail,
Harass your fellow countryman while corrupted courts prevail.

Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oath they've sworn,
Your daughters visit doctors so children won't be born.

Your leaders ship artillery and guns to foreign shores,
And send your sons to slaughter, fighting other people's wars.

Can you regain your Freedom for which we fought and died?
Or don't you have the courage, or the faith to stand with pride?

Are there no more values for which you'll fight to save?
Or do you wish your children live in fear and be a slave?

Sons of the Republic, arise and take a stand!
Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land!

Preserve our Republic, and each God-given right!
And pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright!"

As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from whence he came,
His words were true, we are not free, and we have ourselves to blame.

For even now as tyrants trample each God-given right,
We only watch and tremble-too afraid to stand and fight.

If he stood by your bedside in a dream while you're asleep,
And wonder what remains of your right he fought to keep.

What would be your answer if he called out from the grave?
Is this still the land of the free and home of the brave?

Regrets: A Poem

, , ,

Here's the latest poem that I have written:

Regrets

The old man sat on a park bench alone
The birds he was feeding were his only company
He had long ago become used to being on his own
A rich, yet lonely, old man he turned out to be

He looked around and saw a young couple nearby
And his heart began to ache again
The old man noticed them kissing each other goodbye
Then he saw the young man walking towards him

The young man sat down on the same park bench
And gave the old man a friendly greeting
The old man returned the same to his new friend
Surprised, he was, by this chance meeting

“That was my girlfriend that you saw me with,”
Said the young man to his new friend
“She is the woman who I am in love with
I would cry if this relationship were to end.”

The old man thought about those words for a moment
Remembering times from long ago
His thoughts went to his true love at that moment
And how much he missed her so

“Young man listen well and I will tell you a story
About a young fellow much like yourself
He sought out to have riches and glory
And to live all his life in good health

“That fellow started out with a burning ambition
To have all that he could get
So what if he hurt others? it was a tradition
He had started since he was a young gent

“He never gave much thought to treating people with kindness
That young fellow thought it was a waste of time
Treating other people kindly he viewed as a weakness
That would stop him from making his next dime

“He was handsome and had his way with the women
Never treating them much better than dirt
His relationships never lasted long but then
He did not care if their feelings got hurt

'Then one day he met a woman and knew that she was special
There was something that he couldn't quite put his finger on
She was very pretty and the young fellow knew that he felt
A connection, they could both feel it with each one

“They went out and slowly got to know each other better
This woman he began to have feelings for
He wanted to see her and even wrote her love letters
So they kept seeing each other even more

“They kept on dating each other for quite a while
And then they became engaged one day
But his old habits were there and did not bring her a smile
So she called off the wedding and sadly went on her way

“This young fellow was very sad and
Not at all happy that things ended up that way
That young lady was his one true love and
He couldn't, but how he wanted to forget that day.

“So he turned his attention back to making money
Still mourning the loss of his one true love
He never again had another relationship like that lovely
Woman he would always keep thinking of.

“Now all the money in the world could never
Bring him the happiness that he wanted
He always wanted to be loved forever
And to love a woman with no end

“That young fellow never felt loved again
And that, you see, is one of his regrets
That young fellow is me, my young friend
It's one of the things I wish I could forget

“So, always treat her the best that you can
Dream of her whenever you close your eyelids
And also be good to your fellow man
Please don't make the same mistakes that I did.”

The old man smiled and thanked his new friend
For the time that they spent together that day
Tears came to his eyes that he thought wouldn't end
The young man cherished that meeting, he would later say.
