Ikan Kerapu Macan Akan Punah Akibat Perubahan Iklim

JAKARTA, KOMPAS - Dampak perubahan iklim terhadap kerentanan dan adaptasi menyebabkan sekitar 20-30 persen tumbuhan dan hewan akan berisiko punah jika terjadi kenaikan temperatur global rata-rata di atas 1,5-2,5 derajat Celcius. Jenis ikan yang akan punah di antaranya ikan Kerapu Macan, Kerapu Sunu dan Napoleon yang banya digemari masyarakat.

Risiko ini didasarkan pada laporan para ahli dalam International Panel on Cilamet Change (IPCC) yang diselenggarakan pada April 2007 lalu. Demikian diungkapkan oleh Menteri Negara Ligkungan Hidup Rahmat Witoelar saat memberikan sambutan di acara Hari Cinta Puspa dan Satwa Nasional 2007 di Gedung II Istana Wakil Presiden di Jakarta, Senin (5/11). Dalam acara itu, Wapres Kalla tak hadir karena sakit.

"Dari laporan para ahli IPCC, April lalu, dampak dari kerentanan dan adaptasi akibat perubahan iklim telah menyebabkan sekitar 20-30 persen tumbuhan dan hewan akan meningkat risiko kepunahannya jika temperatur global rata-rata di atas 1,5 -2,5 derajat Celcius," ujar Rahmat.

Padahal, menurut Rahmat, Kepulauan Indonesia saat ini memiliki 14.000 unit terumbu karang dengan luasan total sekitar 85.700 kilometer atau sekitar 14 persen dari terumbu karang dunia. "Kenaikan suhu air laut 2-3 persen akan menyebabkan kematian alga yang merupakan sumber pakan terumbu karang. Ini juga akan menyebabkan punahnya kekayaan terumbu karang dan beberapa jenis ikan karang yang bernilai tinggi seperti Kerapu Macan, Kerapu Sunu dan Napoleon," jelas Rahmat.

Perubahan iklim, lanjut Rahmat, juga akan menyebabkan terjadi migrasi ikan ke daerah yang lebih dingin. "Kondisi ini juga akan menyebabkan hilangnya beberapa jenis ikan dari perairan di Indonesia," demikianm Wapres. (HAR)
